  1. I addressed my comment to DrJack. It was really a question about whether the account could be used. I know that joint accounts could be used years ago. The op said that she did not think it would be accepted, which is not the same as saying that she knew it wouldn't. Edit to add: It does appear that joint accounts can be used, but immigration will only recognize half the funds. https://www.legal.co.th/resources/visa-immigration-law/thailand-immigration-law/joint-bank-accounts-and-thai-retirement-visa-extension/
  2. @DrJack54 The op has said they have a separate joint account. I seem to recall that joint accounts are accepted but immigration will only count half the balance.
  3. I don't know about the whole of Thailand, but in Pattaya the Father Ray Foundation is very well known and takes care of hundreds of kids. https://www.fr-ray.org/ https://www.fr-ray.org/father-ray-childrens-village/
  4. I once used my soup spoon to eat my dessert. I don't think I will ever recover from the embarrassment.

Anything published here, that can be considered lese majestes, libelous, defamatory, or slanderous under Thai laws, could result in the whole website being closed down.

  7. I am a UK pensioner living with a Thai wife and our 12-year-old daughter in Thailand. During 2023 I have been remitting 90 - 110kTHB each month into Thailand from my private pension. In addition I have been remitting 28kTHB each month into Thailand from my UK State pension, which I deposit into a fund for my daughter's education. UK income tax has been deducted from all my UK income. This year (2024) I will remit only the minimum amount to satisfy my extension of stay (65,000 THB). I will continue to invest the 28k into my daughter's education fund, but I will keep it in a UK savings account. My question to the experts is: If I pay for goods and services directly from my UK bank/credit union/building society (for school fees, household goods, wine, groceries, etc) will that be classed as assessable income? For example, I recently paid about 6000THB online for half a case of wine. The payment was made using Wise transfer from my UK account. Would this be classed as assessable income ?
  8. The connection is that it appears on the same label of contents, and the product declares that no preservatives are added.
  9. I remember the school yard riddle - "Mississippi is a very long river, if you can't spell it you're a dunce" Of course most kids would answer wrongly - "M, i, double s, i, double s, i, double p, i" The correct answer is "I.T." Great photos and narrative, as always. Thanks Owl
  10. Aldous Huxley's "Brave New World" is a good read if you have an interest in population control.
  11. I just looked up INS260, which is also on the list of contents. It's a preservative and acidity regulator. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/International_Numbering_System_for_Food_Additives 555
  12. MSG occurs naturally in some fruits/veg. The label says no MSG is "added". Maybe that's the explanation.

  15. In his subsequent post he made it clear that he was referring to the healing effect of Earth's natural electricity. Some people believe it.
  16. Just eat them without the milk - or with slices of banana.
  17. I prefer Frosties - they're Gr-r-reat ...
  18. These are wise words. My only other comment/question is - OP is considering withdrawing his 2,000 Baht each month for Granny. There is no mention that Granny is demanding more, just other family members. Why should Granny suffer due to the greed of others?
