Thailand Laptop in the UK.
I think @Andrew Dwyer (above) has given you the info you need. Seems you may have set your keyboard to UK English, so the Shift/3 key gives the pounds sign. If you go into language settings and choose US English the Shift/3 key will give the # sign.

Dogs are far more adaptable to their current situation than you think. They will find their way to survive without you. Get out of your "dysfunctional relationship" asap and look after yourself. The dogs will be fine.

When exactly is state pension frozen?
I left the UK to reside in Thailand in 2005 and immediately informed HMRC that I was no longer a UK resident. Seventeen years later (2022) I claimed my State Pension. It was, and still is, paid at the rate applicable in 2022. So, it appears that the rate applied is that on the date of the claim - not the date of changing country of residence. Just to add - Deferring one's claim will also increase the weekly pension payment. According to https://www.gov.uk/deferring-state-pension/what-you-get the weekly pension payment increases by 5.8% for each year it is deferred. However, the extra payment is also frozen (if you reside in Thailand etc.) Edit: Why can't we embed links to websites?

Chainsaws and Silence: Two Men Convicted for Felling the Sycamore Gap Tree
Apparently, they use the CAVAT formula which calculates the value of the tree itself, plus its value as a public asset, and other things. https://www.trees.org.uk/News-Blog/Latest-News/CAVAT-Full-Method-a-lowdown-on-the-refresh

Toilet not "sucking" like it used to.
Have you checked that the cistern is filling correctly? If the valve (ball valve or other float) is closing too early, you may be flushing without enough water.

What Thai bank credit card do you have?
I do not have a credit card. I visit the UK about once a year and always rent a car. All the rental companies accept a debit card, but it must have your name on it (i.e.- not just an ATM card). I think most Thai banks can issue a named debit card - Bangkok Bank certainly do.

Another Rama II Incident: Driver Injured as Large Concrete Slab Falls onto Pickup Truck
A lump of concrete falls from a recently constructed bridge into his truck, crushing him. Then the hospital gives him the wrong blood type, and he dies. The victim is absolutely faultless in this situation. In the west his family would be set up for life with the compo (rightly so). It will be interesting to see what value is placed on this poor man's life by the insurance companies.
