  1. Sounds like you already have a re-entry permit, but you should post a picture of the passport page here - so that one of the more expert members can verify.
  2. Empty barrels make the most noise. "If" - If my auntie had balls she'd be my uncle.
  3. Correct me if I'm wrong - Retirees using the 800,000 THB in the bank method for their extensions, are not permitted to allow the balance to fall below 400,000 THB at any time during the year. Doesn't that mean that they have to keep (a minimum of) 400.000 THB year-round?
  4. The only thing that we can do is anticipate their behaviour and drive accordingly. E.g.- if someone is attempting to overtake you in a dangerous location, use your mirrors, slow down and just let them pass. E.g.- if a motorbike or sa-ling pulls out in front of you without looking, be prepared to slow down quickly and wait behind them until it's safe to overtake. It will only add a few seconds to your journey. E.g.- If you see youngsters (or even boy racers) ahead or behind, give them a wide berth. Imagine the <deleted>storm you will face if you get involved in a fatal accident, even if you are not to blame. Etcetera. Sorry to come across as a bit 'preachy', but we need to apply our best standards. Maybe others will copy.
  5. IMO ignore lists should be transparent. Board members should be able to see who is on everyone else's list and whom is "ignoring" them. Same applies to "Likees/emojis". Why should we not know the identity of those who like or dislike our posts or find them funny, puzzling, or sad? The proliferation of anonymous and inappropriate use of the "sad" and "confused" emojis, since they became anonymous, has allowed certain members to troll away without being held to account. Just for information - I have never used the "ignore" button, and I never will.
  6. Current Minister of Agriculture is Thammanat Prompow. Convicted in Australia and served 4 years in connection with drug smuggling. He's on the Royally approved list here ... https://www.thaipbsworld.com/royal-approval-of-thailands-new-cabinet-granted/
  7. Standards, ethics, and morals don't pay for nice cars, houses, and mia noi's.
  8. Right now the fee would be 29.05 GBP Exchange rate is 44.2999 THB/1 GBP You would receive 220,212.59 THB Fees and rates vary. The important number is how much you receive.
  9. I don't know how @Schuimpge did it, but I found a Thai income tax calculator - here ... https://www.uobam.co.th/en/tax-calculation This includes deductibles.
  10. Last I read, he is being sued for defamation by the new PM.
  11. Investigation into the activities of the 2-I-C (sorry, second in command) of the Thai police force is not (IMO) "everyday stories". I have seen no evidence to indicate whether or not BJ is a "Good Guy" or not. But, regarding the "everyday stories", it does seem to me that the defamation laws prevent honest reporting. Reporters/People can be imprisoned, even if they tell the truth. Not to mention LM laws.
  12. When Barclays informed me that my accounts would be closed (after over 40+ years of being in credit and having a regular income) I was livid. I had an authorised available overdraft of 8,000 GBP which I never used, so I was tempted to withdraw my balance and max out my overdraft, and let them go to the expense of clawing it back - probably not even possible. I immediately went to my online banking app and found that my authorised overdraft had been reduced to 10 GBP.
  13. One of the reasons why investigative reporting is rare here in Thailand ... https://cpj.org/data/killed/asia/thailand/?status=Killed&motiveConfirmed[]=Confirmed&motiveUnconfirmed[]=Unconfirmed&type[]=Journalist&type[]=Media Worker&cc_fips[]=TH&start_year=1992&end_year=2023&group_by=location
  14. When you post anything on Aseannow you need to be prepared to receive funny, sarcastic, insulting, and crazy replies. But, most often (IME) you will get the helpful and constructive information you are seeking.
  15. I am no plant expert, but came across your topic by chance, and did a goooogle. Quite a few results on Lazada, with good reviews ... https://www.lazada.co.th/tag/artemisia-annua-seed/
  16. Shoes with rubber soles are the answer. Loads of information here ... https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-d&q=best+footwear+for+working+on+a+slippery+surface
  17. I wore them for work for 30 years in all weathers, never a slip. The most comfortable shoes/boots I ever wore too. I can't think of any other "dress shoe" with better grip.
  18. At 75 years of age a fall and broken hip could ruin your life. You don't need to abandon your dress code, just find something smart with a grippy sole ... Dr Marten's brogues
