  1. I would try any of the 'Phuket Property to Rent/Sell' Facebook group pages. Whilst commercial rather than residential, these group pages are very much a source into the Russian community/word of mouth etc.
  2. Just had a look, they have a reasonable web site, where you can actually book an appointment for various visas and extensions. https://phetchaburi.immigration.go.th/ There are various contact methods quoted though, which I'm sure your wife will be able to navigate. Unfortunately, unlike Phuket, they currently don't have the facility to check on your application status. Just had a look at mine, quoting the number on my 'Under consideration' stamp, though knowing that its only been a few days since the application.
  3. 3 months statement is standard at least in Phuket, as well as the current TM47 and TM30.
  4. OK, I'll bolt onto this thread for my recent experience, albeit this was in Phuket Immigration on Friday 22nd April. Not unlike the OP, married for 13 years, though only the last 5 (of 15 extensions) have been Marriage, the remainder Retirement. Anyway, for the previousl 5 Marriage extensions, used the same photos (1 of us both at house gate showing number, another inside the house - in our case sat together at a dining table). I keep copies of all documents on a computer, so it's just a case of printing two sets out each time, except for updates of my bank book and a new KorRor 2. Everything went great, but they now want two different photos outside, one showing us full length (which we had), the other from the waist up). Likewise, they specifically wanted photos of us together in both our bedroom and our kitchen. I was given the 'under consideration' stamp and passport returned, and my wife was to return on Monday/24th with the extra photos (done). Another odd one, they asked for my wife to make a Line video call to the IO once we got home on the Friday, and we did a walk through showing us at the front gat, kitchen and bedroom. We have never had a home visit, so can only assume that this was in lieu of one. One final thing, given the amount of extensions happening in Phuket at the moment, I decided to use their on-line appointment system. This worked well, and was given 2.00 p.m. Friday/22nd. I printed out the appointment email and had it with me at the due time, and we were ushered to the appropriate IO straight away.
  5. Nor do I, and I make my own Panang paste (shop bought paste usually doesn't include the essential crushed peanuts). I make mine with more sauce also than is usual from restaurants, and normally with chicken rather than pork or beef. Here's one I made a couple of weeks ago, with some homemade naan breads rather than rice.
  6. In truth, most of the island beaches in Phang Nga Bay are similar, you could be on any one of them or indeed still on Phuket. For an overall experience, I would recommend the sea canoe excursions. The vessels are large and quite slow, and sheltered from any adverse weather. Leaving from the north, particularly from Laem Sai pier, means a relatively short journey time and the best scenery that Phang Nga Bay has to offer. There will be food and drinks onboard, inclusive of the tour price (probably beer extra if you want it). You won't actually paddle the canoe yourself, there will be a local guide doing that, and each canoe can carry three people (guide included). Overall, much better than being bounced around in an open speedboat.
  7. That's the same recipe (Warburtons) that I use. Don't make them that often, but worthwhile when I do. These from the last small batch I made. I usually have them with a spoonful of honey on top.
  8. Indeed. Not concerned about location or cost of rented accommodation, but wants cheap nursery.
  9. You're using the US version, the UK version is 'Enrolment'.
  10. Opposite Food For Foreigners. https://www.google.com/maps/place/shipsmile+service+สาขาบางคณฑี/@7.8127128,98.3382763,21z/data=!4m6!3m5!1s0x30502f6365bf0b37:0xdeb6e552972ff4cb!8m2!3d7.8127403!4d98.3384049!16s%2Fg%2F11kgpx_5jd
  11. The management and teachers are various nationality expats. The admin and clerical staff are Thai. 'Enrolment' is the correct spelling in UK English. 'Enrollment' is the US spelling.
  12. If the cost of the nursery is a consideration, cost of renting a property certainly will. There would be no point in looking at good nurseries in areas where the minimum rental property comes in way over your budget. I specifically mentioned Rawai and Chalong (and you could include Kathu also) because the range of properties in those areas would start around 15,000 month for a typical Thai style house, up to......then there is no limit.
  13. OK, here you go, both from the age of 2. https://headstartphuket.com/en https://www.bisphuket.ac.th/ this from 18 months: https://bcisphuket.com/academics/early-years-foundation-stage/
  14. I think it better to start with which area of Phuket. From your post, I'm guessing seasonal renting over what in effect is the high season for tourists, and for that period there will be a premium for rental properties especially for fixed periods of 4/5/6 months. This year has seen an extraordinary demand for short and even long term rentals in all sectors of the market, with the corresponding rise in rental prices. Depending on your rental budget, the most popular areas for families are in the south of the island, particularly Rawai and Chalong. There are numerous nurseries in those areas.
  15. Had a large Toshiba fridge/freezer for nearly 16 years, had to have the coolant replenished about a year ago. Apart from that, never a problem. It sits in our utility room. In the kitchen lives a large Mitsubishi, 15 years old now, never a problem. If/when I need to replace either, it will be with a Samsung. All their products, whether phones/TV/fridges/washing machines are reliable, and certainly in Phuket, their after sales service is very good. The Mitsubishi, three door, top freezer, middle fridge, bottom drawer vegetables.
  16. Indeed, though certainly within their home countries/communities, even if not being particularly obvservant, adherence to the daylight fasting during Ramadan is usually the norm. I worked/lived for 3 years in Qatar, so am familiar with their practices.
  17. An observation. Many Middle East muslims drink alcohol, though not drawing attention to themselves. I've been in the Business Lounge in Dubai/Bahrain many times observing Saudi's topping up before their flights to Riyhad etc. At the moment, it's Ramadan, a month where Muslims cannot eat nor drink from sunrise to sunset. When the sun goes down, they tend to party and gorge themsevles, and if alcohol is involved having not eaten for how ever many hours, that's going to cause problems. So, whilst they may not adher to the Muslim 'no alcohol' script, adhering to Ramadan whilst on holiday is going to be an issue.
  18. Yes, I believe so. I have an air fryer, and also a halogen oven, though not used either for baking, in fact not used either for very much at all. Guess I'm a traditionalist, sticking to my normal convection oven.
  19. I have an oven that I use almost on a daily basis for roasting and baking. In particular, bread and rolls, nothing beats the smell of freshly baked bread in the house. Pies, pasties, and some desserts are easy too. Some Portuguese custard tarts ("Pastel de Nata") that I made today, and some recent rolls and bread. The versatily of an oven far outweighs those of a bread making machine.
  20. Not a cop, one of those local 'civil defence volunteers' that like dressing up, feeling important and getting their photos in social media and press.
  21. Finished painting the pipework a few days ago.
  22. There are several marinas on Phuket with accommodation adjacent, both for sale and rent. http://www.pyhmarina.com/facilities-service.php https://aopograndmarina.com/ https://www.phuketboatlagoon.com/ https://www.royalphuketmarina.com/ There are also slipways for small boats in places like Chalong and Rawai, but without adjacent accommodation. There's a sister boat lagoon marina in Krabi: http://www.krabiboatlagoon.com/ Relatively safe year round moorings are in Ao Yon and Ao Chalong on Phuket, and seasonally in Nai Hairn.
  23. One for the Chiang Mai and possibly Hua Hin crowd......
