    Tom.

Indeed the ping time are bad, but will not be much better with a 1x1 ether..

Just after 1pm .. with true to london

  2. No I didn't, but to be honest the speed is irrelevant as long as it's over 512 - it's all about the latency. It comes with a free Cisco 1761 router.

And I doubt that would have been a Specific Path product, all though obviously I haven't spoken with them.

    Tom.

with a 2x2 G.SHDSL you got - a free router, email accounts etc, guaranteed 2mb bkk-germany, free installation etc etc but this was a business promotion 9 months ago .. It maybe cheaper now.

EDIT: I was just told that TOT also have a similar package for 1x1 at approx 16k per month.

  3. @ RKASA

I guess it is what you make it. I see you have linux icon there so this may explain a bit more from my side.

One computer here is continually compiling open source software from sourceforge and many others, and it is not unusual to get on up to 990k on a build download at its worst 15k during peak times, but all from shell of course and one build approx 12 hours a shot and over 13,000 files. No packet shaping which I noticed on other providers, so I am chuffed with True.

  4. I have had a water jet sprayer for a long time now and its just gone belly up on me, I only really use it rarely and am not keen on buying another one, does anyone know where I can rent one for a few hours or if someone has one that could rent me etc??

    Thanks

    Jimmy

Or you could buy one at Big C for 1,890 Baht, I just did and they work better than my old 8,500 bath one.

  5. Possible - Yes

    Legal - Probably not

    Advantageous - Doubtful

    Advantageous - Doubtful

    very doubtful!

Its like traveling from Bangkok to Pattaya via Phuket... :)

The ISP your friend is most likely talking about is Speedcast, a subsidiary of AsiaSat and they use the C band on the Asiasat 4 satellite. It works great and even in the worst of the rains here in Thailand. The only autorised reseller in Thailand is CAT but they add another 100% on the actual direct cost from Speedcast (TiT).

I have used the service in Laos and Cambodia with Speedcast direct and they charge about USD250 per month for their Bronze package.

  6. Please if any member knows of a used Hobie Wave or Hobie Bravo, get back to me.

Pop over to the Royal Varuna Yacht Club and there are several on the notice board. You may have to ask the receptionist if she will show you or if you really get stuck PM me and I will bring you in as a visitor the next time I am down there.

  7. I just did it the otherway around and the only way I could get it out of Ubuntu to windows was to convert the db to a .csv file and import the csv file into our new CRM app. It took a while to import but better than rekeying it and if your app is any good it should have the ability to map the csv you are importing.

  8. I guess you have the one in the US on the default slingbox port 5001, and we have had issues with that port here in Thailand, so we changed to port 8080 (port 80 worked well too) and all seems to be OK so far (fingers crossed).

Also make sure you have the latest firmware in the Sling player (your PC) and the Slingbox as the new version speeds it up no end and if you have a slingPro you can watch hdtv too far better than before.

  9. 1. Goto DOS prompt and issue the following command:

    ipconfig /flushdns

    2. Delete all temporary internet files (clean the cache)

    3. Close your browser and restart your computer.

    That should help.

I am running linux on all the boxes here and already did simular under linux. I even changed from opendns to local DNS and visa versa still the same issues. It was fine up to last week when we all had gateway issues with our ISP's.

  10. Same issue here and it makes the message boards unreadable. I link to Singapore OK as a speedtest shows below, but every page is incomplete - limited images displayed, all text links, reply pages like this take up to 5 minutes to complete forming. It is like there is a traffic shaper on your urls or someone is limiting the bandwidth to you.

  11. Does anyone else have a problem with videos skipping on Ubuntu. It's not that bad but sometimes it happens to me. when I had windows it was fine. Now I have Ubuntu 9.04 jaunty and especially on ufc.com they skip.

    I have a geforce 5500 nvidia card 2.4 ghz 1.2 gb ram pentium 4

What media player are you using? If you do not use VLC then consider it as it is great but make sure you also install the vlc-mozilla-plugin for your web browser as well.

  12. This is the way to go for viewing films stored on the PC,

via the dreambox, on your TV. :)

Yes indeed there are several ways

    1. Movieplayer [any avi etc file on the pc to the Dm7020 i.e. torrent to TV] PLi Jade2 is the best software for this

    2. Streaming but movieplayer does it better

For the otherway round you need to look on your computer in the Windows Explorer/Network Places.

    1. In Windows Media Center

    2. streaming to your PC/MAC/Linux box

    3. Mounting a PC to the DM7020

I am not sure if there is any way to view the current received programme.

Yes via the DM7020 web interface . In short many of your questions can be answered on the PLi wiki we maintain from here in Thailand.

  13. Agreed 100% with vcpilot, as I run VMware 6.5.0 build-118166 (yes I brought it) for the same reasons and use both OSX and WIN7 for the development and wiki writing we do here.

Although I have found you want at least 2gigs of RAM for the host when running OSX else it is painfully slow.
