To protect against viruses, you need an N95 mask, which is not the usual mask that doctors and nurses wear in hospitals...
Even a normal surgery mask and even a plain cloth mask filters out droplets. So it does help preventing the virus to spread and therefore provides a level of protection. The fact that an N95 mask might be even better does not negate that, otherwise we could as well claim that N95 are useless because only a full body protection suit gives you 100% protection (and even then some might argue that there is still a small chance of spreading and contracting the virus so only staying at home works).
If you want to see it with your own eyes, here are some videos:

They act in the same way regarding viruses as they act with regards to bacteria. They heavily reduce the risk of a pathogen being spread.

Just now, Purdey said:I wonder why no one treats this deadly disease like a deadly weapon?
If you know you have it and refuse to wear a mask? Carrying a deadly weapon in public without a licence gives you a huge fine.
Pass the disease to another person by not wearing a mask? Attempted murder.
Passing the disease to someone who dies of the disease? Murder one. Premeditated murder.
Once people realize it isn't them who is the center of the universe, it is the people they sicken and kill, perhaps people would be more careful.
There are countries where not wearing a condom when you have HIV is a criminal offense, or even just removing the condom without the other person knowing. But I guess the science deniers and conspiracy theorists will soon tell us that HIV also is just a hoax because most people survive it and can also die from a car accident.

That’s ok. If you want to believe that a 30yo guy who was admitted to hospital, told a nurse that he made a mistake going to a Covid party and died shortly later died of something else than Covid then you can believe that, of course.

Of course there is evidence that you spread much much more when you’re not wearing a mask, but should you ever have a surgery, please feel free to tell the doctors to not wear a mask.

Given the many times Brexiteers have embarrassed themselves by showing us their lack of knowledge, it’s probably a wise idea to not answer my question but to resort to an emoji instead.

Do you know what this man actually died of? Or are you just assuming he was killed by the virus he may have picked up after "reportedly" attending a Covid party?
The fact that he himself told the nurse that “it was a mistake” to join the Covid party doesn’t sound like he died of a car accident.

The well known Dr. has said many things to establish an elevated social media position. Easy done from the Ivory tower.
Is he really concerned or more concerned that people will not remember his name.
The doctor posting with his real name and photo from his “ivory tower” vs. the anonymous guy without a photo and name posting his sofa.

And people are wondering why Thailand isn’t letting foreigners in. Please, protect us from all those stupid westerners. Let Darwin do his job first.

Why am I not surprised that Brexiteers wear fake Raybans from third-world night markets...

Probably as much as when they heard about the trade deficit that Brexiteers love to talk about ????
Getting excited about remotely relevant facts I’m wondering whether that’s just lack of knowledge or already desperation.
And, of course, you’re wondering why the UK didn’t build any freeports already, like the 20 other ones in the EU.

Wondering what those rights are and why you wouldn’t give it to them. But it’s good to see that things are moving in the right direction and people are being treated equally regardless their sexual orientation.

Are you German by any chance? ????
I wasn’t aware Germans make the best sports apparel in the world. And cameras? Leica makes good cameras, but are they among the best in the world? And let’s not talk about tech and digital. Apart from SAP and TeamViewer, there’s not much Germany in that landscape.- 1

Seems you can gaslight and lie to your people but not a virus. He should consult his friend Dr. Dumb what the right dosage of bleach is to make this hoax infection go away.

Do you actually know what a medical doctor has to do in his university education? It seems that you don’t. It might not be the same in every country, but the way I know it there is a phase where they do some scientific research, and are trained in it. That can include hands on research in labs with mice and all that.
Are you sure you’re not mixing up research with training?

Rather than deduct, you would add the reduced road death number to the excess deaths number (since the expected should include the expected road deaths...if there were fewer road deaths but the expected number is still at the expected place or higher, then you add the road death number).
Yes. Or you deduct it from the historical average ????

Just now, JCP108 said:
Also, since it was reported that there were fewer road accident deaths during the soft lockdown, if you find excess deaths, you would have to adjust for those fewer reported road deaths (as in, add in 6,000 to the excess number).
I was looking for that number. Is 6,000 the average number of road deaths for that period?

factor in the massive reduction in road deaths and you might be getting close
