  1. It is neither difficult nor stressful, particularly in a case like yours where you both live together in Thailand. She simply demonstrates clearly and unambiguously that the trip is affordable (can be your money), she has somewhere to stay and that she will return. Flights are not required at time of application but there is no harm in providing a tentative schedule of your (her) plans. Whilst you are not formally her "sponsor" as such you should write a letter briefly outlining your support of the application (likely funding it and providing the accommodation). GOV.UK says "The earliest you can apply is 3 months before you travel." so that answers that point. I helped my wife obtain 3 or 4 visitor visas without needing any agent and without any refusals.
  2. The only old men I see regularly wai'ing young attractive girls is in go-go's., and very foolish they look. She probably thought he was being inappropriate and responded accordingly.
  3. Bangkok Bank say; "If your savings account has been inactive for more than one year with a balance of less than Baht 2,000, a maintenance fee of Baht 50 will be deducted from your account each month. When the balance is zero, your account will be automatically closed."
  4. Exactly. That was what I was trying to say. So your own forecast will increase after April as it is currently based on today's rate not including future increases.
  5. Hopefully not, they don't do them any more.
  6. 800k needs to be maintained for 3 months after extension, thereafter 400k until 2 months prior to the next. To avoid any chance of a problem it is often recommended to transfer to a new account is done in 2 x 400k lumps on different days..
  7. It is based on the current pension rate not future. At least it is in my case showing GBP 185.15/week (current full rate).
  8. I don't remember the last time I bought a plane ticket and the price was dependent on whether I had a work permit or not.
  9. Makes me so glad to have an inbound flight on June 2. I am yet to see any clue as to the how and where to pay this.
  10. Well "they" should read the GOV.UK page (same statement for collection). Making your application You must apply in person. If you’re unable to, someone else can go on your behalf. You must bring photo ID with you.
  11. Resorts and hotels know this already (for years), that is why they ask for passports on checking in. They don't need to be "approached". Nothing is new here.
  12. Ir was a few years back but that is news to me, where are you reading that from, the GOV.UK advice is still the same.
  13. I had somebody collect my passport and she had an authorisation letter from me which referenced her Thai ID card number along with my application reference. She also had my old passport for VFS to cancel. That was all as far as I recall.
  14. Was it this one? (if you still need it).
  15. 1 - Don't "close" the account just take most of the money out. Leave a small amount in and it will stay alive for years. You'll be able to get the statement you need.
  16. Optimistic - <1h30m Realistic - 2h15m Pessimistic - >3h
  17. You need to put the names of the two references (people you know or once knew in the UK) on the application for the affirmation. Nobody will attempt to contact these people. This is not the same as the two witnesses you need at the Amphur when you eventually get married.
  18. Good review thanks. Serves as both a recommendation and a warning. For me the latter.
  19. 1000 = 40.3465 1100 = 40.3465 1200 = 40.3465 1300 = 40.0769 I know they are live but it's the jump at 1300 that interested me. Doesn't occur on the Wise rate.
  20. It's interesting that the XE rate changes (negatively) if you go over £1300. Almost as if it's a deliberate hook, surely not?
