  1. Made these the other day, random spuds from CP Fresh, blanched then twice fried in canola. Came out pretty well.
  2. So plenty of time to wait and see if that happens, and if not get the visa - takes 3 or 4 days max.
  3. Apply for it, the 60 day exempt has not been confirmed nor any credible date announced.
  4. I can only agree with you. My limited encounters with the embassy in Bangkok have been for minor administrative things and have passed without much issue, however I was seriously let down in the only other embassy encounter I have had, that being a garden reception at the embassy in Tehran. It was summer, they had fine food a plenty, every (alcoholic) drink you could wish for but............no ICE! Warm G&T never really cuts it.
  5. Yes, if you booked their "saver" fare then all seats are chargeable. However, you can still chose your own seat for free at online check in.
  6. If you really need it then why not just book and pay for it? Failing that you can select a seat for free when you check in online, 48 hours in advance. You can check back from time to time to see if there are still plenty of aisle seats left, if they are going fast then you'll have to pay for one.
  7. I fear your plea will fail. He/it is clearly s-ponsored to do it, along with all the others.
  8. What about office workers? Do all these workers rush out at 11 now and get half pished?
  9. ....but deliberate and it worked.
  10. You need to apply for and receive your ED first. She will need details of your visa in order for her to get her non-O (visiting non-thai family I presume). There is no reason why her dates need to match yours, she can just put a 90 day or less date as her 'intended' return date.
  11. Yes, that will be fine, in fact it only needs to be there 2 months before extension, 3 after, then 400 till the next year cycle repeats. It's an extension based on "retirement" not "pension". And your wife will need to go along when you make the change.
  12. That's a link to this thread. Anything better?
  13. I'm glad you said that as I was sure I saw "farangs" using them at BKK a couple of weeks ago (departing). This "news" does seem to be on a repeat cycle.
  14. Champagne has definitely got cheaper lately no doubt about it.
  15. Who knows why, perhaps it's a requirement of Thai bureaucracy rather than something the UK is interested in, but maybe a good idea to it to your to-do list.
  16. Indeed. For the life of me I don't understand why people reply with even vaguely sensible posts. There are numerous fake/bonkers posters who are at least somewhat amusing, but these artificial questions are taking over now.
  17. "A few months". "6 months". "all these months". Hard to follow this tale with it's inconsistencies. Anyhow, what did the bank say when you asked them?
  18. Well I did read the same on here a week or so back, hopefully your "good authority" is gooder than that.
  19. Plenty of information is available here; https://www.gov.uk/guidance/what-to-do-after-a-british-person-dies-in-thailand?utm_source=%2Fbritish-embassy-bangkok&utm_medium=Embassy&utm_campaign=Bangkok Whilst the Embassy needs some information in order for them to issue a consular letter to release the body there is no suggestion that they will do anything more to help the bereaved. There is advice regarding informing UK entities so it seems it is up to those left behind to do what's needed.
  20. First, don't ever accept the exchange offered by the ATM (Dynamic Currency Conversion). Always have the exchange done by your own bank. Irrespective of whichever Banks ATM you use you will get the Visa or Mastercard rate on the day. You will be charged 220 baht for the withdrawal, depending on your bank/card you might get that reimbursed, and some (foreign) banks charge a % fee for themselves.
  21. That first photo has been floating around for years. But you're right, I got shouted at taking a picture of the vast crowds at arrival immigration some time last year.
  22. they weren't pretending, can't say I blame them.
  23. Well done, did you make that up all by yourself?
  24. 22nd will be closed. 29th is not a real holiday, just a thing. If in doubt, avoid Mondays.
