  1. Yes he's right. I did mine there in December. Actually I used the VFS E-Extension service which pre-approves the extension and give an appointment which limits the time needed at the office, under an hour in both our cases.
  2. I did not need one in December extending a TR in Bangkok, although I had a copy in my bag if needed. But my other half did. So yes and no, I'd go with yes to be safe.
  3. Yes that is the correct website. Just start an application, you will soon get to the page where you find out that documents they want - depending on what type of visa you are applying for they require different things. One thing they will ask for is proof of your legal residency in Korea, if you are just visiting your passport and entry stamps might be sufficient although the website suggests you may need more..."For non-Korean nationals: a copy of Alien Registration Card front-back" The website deals with applications globally but each country's Embassy might ask for more information from you and of course can refuse to issue a visa if they are so inclined. You should print it, makes life a lot easier at check-in and immigration.
  4. Born in the UK? Already have a Thai birth certificate from the embassy? This website may be of use to you; https://www.thaicitizenship.com/thai-citizenship-when-born-overseas/
  5. Well it's got me beat, either that or I can't see for looking. Can you provide a link?
  6. You better had to mine, that way there is some chance she will understand what you are talking about.
  7. I would not assume anything, keep an eye here for news......https://visa.vfsglobal.com/tha/en/aus
  8. Not if you go into a branch with your bankbook and passport.
  9. Are you talking about a visa, an extension or a re-entry permit?
  10. Or from the mouth of the horse...... https://visa.vfsglobal.com/tha/en/gbr/news/important-update-uk-visa-application-centre-in-bangkok
  11. That's bonkers. Shirley a mistake.
  12. Should be about 3 weeks from when she went to VFS, so any day now. The visa is valid for use from date of issue to expiry - 6 months presumably in your case? You can enter any time in that period but must also leave before the expiry date.
  13. Yikes! Any idea what they are now? I just paid GBP60 for a single non-O in London, doesn't compare well with the NZD800 stated above. Or is everybody rich down there?
  14. Yes. You will get an extension of stay until the expiry of your current passport. Although why not get a new passport now, that would seem a better idea.
  15. The TM30 that applies to your stay at the time you apply for the extension. Easy.
  16. It has been recently reported on here that a renewal from Thailand took only 3 weeks. However, that is only one instance and cannot be taken as the norm. Nor is there any way to influence or speed up the processing time. If you apply through VFS you do retain your old passport and whilst you are not supposed to travel on it after applying in practice you could do so if really needed, although I'm not sure where you would want to go with it. Your best option is of course to pop back to the UK and renew it there, can be done in a day if necessary.
  17. 22 February 2021, I reckon we could drop the 'formerly......' now.
  18. My money is on you having bought exactly the opposite of what you wanted. Start again.
  19. I reckon it'll be the same at the UK, i.e. it's cancelled as soon as the application is received. However, only the Aus immigration will know that so it'll be fine for travel anywhere else, although not much help in your case. https://www.passports.gov.au/passport-care/passport-validity-and-foreign-visas#:~:text=Can I use my current,Australia using the expiring passport.
  20. To which bank? I send to Kasikorn and no matter what I use as the purpose the bank book only ever shows "TRN". However if I download a statement in Thai the entry is described as "รับเงินธุรกรรม ตปท." ("Receive money from overseas transactions") and/or "ธุรกรรมต่างประเทศ" ("Foreign Transactions") - (translations by Google). The English version of the statement says "Trade Finance Deposit".
  21. Giffgaff. Works perfectly. If it is the absolute cheapest who knows but at less than £1/year who cares. And if/when you go to the UK it's very easy to buy the data/call time you need for the trip
