Report Thaksin Blasts Medical Council Over Hospital Stay Controversy
jaideedave replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Imagine the nerve of those paid off doctors to sign bogus medical documents...now Its all falling apart. Not looking too good for Yingy either these days. -
This article is full of good information IMHO.When I came here to retire in 2004 @ 54 I wish I knew more on this topic.I had no health insurance except for when I took some contract jobs in O&G. At 59 I had quad bypass surgery at BPH Hospital. Fortunately I was on contract at the time and Buhpa Blue Cross covered the entire bill. (north if 1 million b) After I recovered I asked for a health policy but I could only get bare minimum coverage with tons of exemptions.I basically have to self insure now. If I had a solid non Thai policy I would have been ok. I can't stress enough for everyone to get a good policy before coming here before something major occurs. Pre existing conditions are your worst nightmare when trying to get insurance.

As a Canuck I only used the embassy confirmation of income once.It cost me 50$ in fees plus car fare Pattaya to Bkk. Last time I only showed immigration my downloaded Income tax file and Wise transfer receipts.Very well accepted. I saved money by not having the "affidavit" paper. Didn't need the embassy paper. As someone else said it will only affect the bogus declarations.

Doctors in LOS are held in "god like" high esteem . I had the audacity to disagree with a Dr here in front of my wife on a symptom I had at the time.during an office visit. After we left the office she wouldn't speak to me for an hour(win) because of my perceived insubordination.555 I just made a joke of it but she's proven her stance a few times over the years. If he told her leap out of his window to cure a cold she would probably open the window herself and thank him. Brainwashed since childhood like many locals. Similar to the SHAMAN at the local temple chasing away any ghosts (for a small fee)

I put an end to her leaving food out overnight straight away.It immediately caused a rodent/mouse issue.I never had the problem before that. It took a few of the sticky mats to catch them all. I got her to dispose of the mat with the still struggling mickey on it and she was cured. They just don't know any better. Small ants can also be an issue in Thai kitchens. A good fix was a simple peppermint oil mixed with a little water.Spray and wipe down the counters with that.Worked a treat and they disappeared.Available on Lazada/Shopee cheap.

Pick up trucks with heavy exhaust smokes
jaideedave replied to villageidiotY2K's topic in General Topics
In my opinion its just unburnt fuel.Look at the driver, it will be a younger (under 30) Somchai and he'll probably have his foot to the floor. One eye will be be in the rear view mirror because he thinks its cool for everyone to see the black smoke cloud and people will think he's got a souped up truck. Same thinking for the guys who remove the baffles on their Honda Wave. -
Decisions, decisions, where to stay in retirement?
jaideedave replied to simon43's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
We used to go on big bike road trips to Cambodia 10 years ago. I've seen what the ChiComs have done to Sihanookville for example. A deserted oasis on unfinished high rises. Its fooked now. Luang Prabang was a quiet backpacker place before the railway line. They are raping Laos IMHO. They cause nothing but grief wherever they go. -
ck,Precisely , It was a sealed deal well before his plane landed. Does anyone think for a minute that he would risk his freedom on his arrival. The police copter and crew were warming up in another area of the airport. These unusually wealthy civil servants will do as they're told and no more. Its all smoke and mirrors for the press so the public can be assured it was all done above board and absolutely no favoritism was involved.555 It took how many years to get a conviction for the 2 Red Bull judges announced the other day?

I share your point of view. I've spent about half of my 20 yrs here on rotational work assignments in O&G. On my time off I didn't prioritize sitting in a classroom studying. The few phrases I did learn usually provoked courious looks or a rapid response in Thai and always ended up in speaking "Tinglish" (my friend you) I can count with the best and don't require a calculator thrust at me by a vendor.I only know a couple farangs who who you could describe as fluent.

PM Paetongtarn Named Young Global Leader 2025 by World Economic Forum
jaideedave replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This does not bode well for the Thai population. It's the same fraternity as Trudeau,Macron, Ursula von der Leyen and all the WEF zealots.NWO,DEI,digital ID and currency if they succeed. "You will own nothing" but we are filthy rich.ffs -
2ndhome... best advice yet. Rent in the building of your choice.I'm currently in a building in Jomtien.I researched it as best I could and talked to Jurisdic concerning Air BNB .They came across as serious against it and have signs posted around. They recently installed face recognition technology for the gym/sauna so I think its coming to the lifts also. A few bad apples slipped through (Ruskies) those <deleted> love to slam doors all the time. Pay the extra for only a 6 mon contract,by then you'll know whether or not you want to live there. Also consider resale as pre-owned condos can be difficult to sell in this overbuilt market. All you need is one <deleted>ty neighbour and you are screwed.

PM Paetongtarn Angrily Denies Alleged Family "Country Deal"

TAK BAI temple murders...aka war on drugs -
Correct! My neighbors son's family did exactly that. His number came up for the Army and he was strutting around the moo ban for a couple days in Army fatigues then "presto" back into civvies. He's done quite well for himself. He now struts around the village in an orange vest with his own number. 555

Retirement extension
jaideedave replied to Badrabbit's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Among the 50+ pages of documents I submitted to the IO one of them was our marriage certificate that he noted and kept. My bank provided the 12 monthly deposit/transfers from abroad but only 100k baht in my Kbank account.I'll just repeat this again next year. Its a good feeling to get away from the agent dependency though. But I must say the agents I used were very fair and proffesional. -
What to look for when buying a used car?
jaideedave replied to giddyup's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Exactly. We were going to buy 2nd hand 3 years ago. The 2-3 year old cars were so close to new price we decided to but new. Best decision we made. I bought a 2nd hand car through my BIL and it was real bad.The rad was plugged up with rust and had never seen coolant. A long list of f,d up items. New or nothing from now on.
