  1. Poor disillusioned moaners who would surely be aware Thai set up when they chose retirement destination. So sad to see the clamour for attention, when quietly sitting in background during this Thai government drive for income, would be preferable.
  2. Just another moaner, some of us have eased through the inbound COE and quarantine process Not going to be any hassle to fulfil other control requests and there obviously has to be some element of control.
  3. No thanks, am receiving the benefits of giving up smoking years ago, receiving the benefit of giving up alcohol years ago, fit enough to enjoy good sex and will continue to do so ????
  4. Gone down hill since poster of the year was ruthlessly abandoned
  5. Way too many people on this forum these days are easily confused it would appear. Ability to contribute/debate has faded into emoticon fest.
  6. It's £100 for a reasonable phone that will do the job and hold copies of your paperwork. Really is a sound investment, given the current procedures. I downloaded the app never been requested to show it at the airport on entry or elsewhere. Good point about line communication in quarantine too.
  7. Not discussion, sweeping generalisations in a feeble attempt to paint a picture based on failures rather than success. Yep I clean up muck hence my response to your unfortunate copy and paste opinion of marriage and retirement in Thailand.
  8. I own nothing in Thailand, nothing to lose except perhaps the love of a good woman Poor quality cliche ridden troll, must try harder ????
  9. I retired to Thailand just 5 months ago after 15 years of planning, 30 years of visiting, now keeping occupied with a family, a home, a few cattle and rice. Usual requirements set up and paid for. Have visited immigration on 3 occasions so far, very helpful, expect no issues with my extension for a year when I apply end of this month. I do not dwell on Thailand of the past, enjoyed it to the full as I enjoy a more sedate lifestyle now. The future may well throw up a few challenges, but I think I am made of stronger stuff than those baulking at a few hours of effort and time spent at immigration, or the 'monied up' who refuse to build a very affordable home because it will not be an 'asset'. Once again a thread to make me smile Thanks guys Have a Lovely day
  10. Corn on the cob, fish, chicken, fruit, all brought to our home for sale all good, ice cream maybe not so good. Thai soups, I think ok in moderation. Rice cooked in banana leaves with flavours ok once in a while.
  11. Wow judging by the recent self proclaimed unwillingness to share such minimal inconsequential information, I am thinking I must be very sociable indeed ???? Not that I 'need' to be sociable but polite I feel is good. ????
  12. Needy if you make conversation, rude if you don't I guess just being you is the easiest most suitable option ????
  13. Struggling to fit 'sharing the untold pleasures of life with someone' into the 'being needy' slot.
  14. I think I have read enough of your posts over the years to gain a little knowledge ???? You have mellowed a bit lately though. The example of the relative using your home against your wishes springs to mind to support my comment. Thailand and Thai women can throw some curve balls not everyone has the ability to deal with them, your solution to the situation suited you which is fine. Not many people are prepared to admit somebody may have been able to handle things better.
  15. There is no equivalent in the UK to the daily procession of very reasonably priced, and varied cooked food vendors we have in rural Thailand. Not to mention the local fresh produce available on a daily basis. Not really a case of settling for less is it? part of the reason to settle in Thailand must surely be a liking for the cuisine?
  16. I think your level of expectation may have been a bit off, compounded by lacking the means or ability to reset it.
  17. Our children just buy a pack and cook at home no need for restaurants ????
  18. I think one of the great things about Thailand is most will not judge you on whatever you left in the parking lot, excepting those who would want it to be so ????
  19. A little light reading on 'love' unfortunately non starter for me, could never willingly accept the label 'victim' ????
  20. I raise my children to first consider their own well being, and that of those close to them, rather than seek 'approval' from society. If that action is construed as selfish so be it. Might also place them in a more suitable position to assist others at times.
  21. For those that cannot apply my comment to the circumstances of the op I carried out a transfer from my UK bank to a Thai bank account while in Thailand using my laptop and card reader no problems whatsoever
  22. If you have a laptop and card reader for on line banking mine worked for the bank transfer in Thailand
  23. Another plus with the more open concrete post and 4 strand method, allows trees and shrubs to grow along the fence line. Possibly what your wife has in mind. We have 8 different types of shrubs/trees in our perimeter fence line
  24. The end use is really the driver here, around our home myself and wife erected a concrete post barb wire 4 strand fence. Good fun and to this day years later still looking ok so can reflect on a job well done. 2 things to note the posts can come with 2 short wires at set intervals on the post that bend to hold your running wire in place. Very easy. Also I would suggest buying say 4 inch sq concrete post with a 6 inch square foot, saves having to put any concrete to hold the base and the post straight. Though a little more difficult to plant. For our grass land where we need to keep out roaming cattle we have same concrete posts but used square mesh similar to 'old croc' photo. I dislike concrete block walls interrupts lines of sight in the open countryside but that is just my preference.
