Not at all just pointing out a more appropriate view of Thainess How about Thai being so fond of children, yet there remains patches of corporal punishment in schools and in the home that given the Thainess conundrum is accepted? Not critical just the observation of an inquisitive mind

Making merit is a huge part of Thainess, it fits way better than whinging about the price of things for foreigners, Spirit houses, children becoming a monk spending a week in the temple making merit for dead relatives, showing compassion, Thainess, in its own way, respecting the dead, making merit for the next life, yet having a live for today attitude ???? Thainess a bit of a conundrum

I have seen no evidence in my life that has persuaded me that afterlife exists, that is why I think the way I do Thai people may read life experiences differently that is their choice happy to respect their faith in the future

Another deep and meaningful thread, that has somehow managed to yet again come round to the inconsequential comments on 'double pricing' Lets go just a little deeper, how do you feel about making merit in this life, and there are numerous ways, self inflicted suffering, there are a few ways to achieve this, random generous donations, not sure if leaving yourself short attracts more karma ???? to name just a couple For me this is my life, my one shot, I like to think I don't need to prepare for the next one in any shape or form, if it turns out there is an afterlife then I will take it as it comes, same as I have this one ???? So I fully understand that Thainess is beyond me and my thinking, because, thoughtfulness, kindness, generousity may well play their part in my life, but I look for little more than the moment, certainly not reward after death

Funny thread You don't create a better life for yourself by looking over the fence and making comparison with others ???? I have family and friends back home doing just fine, as I appear to be doing just fine in Thailand

Last I had checks done after cycling accident all was fine, I take one amlodopine not sure of the spelling, have done for the last 20 years I don't weigh myself or visit doctors for check ups, why? Becase I feel great all my body functions give me no cause for concern I fit into shorts and trousers stored in Thailand for 20 years ???? During my last 14 years working in the Uk I cycled a 30klm round trip, often working 7 days a week Nah I earned my icecreams and cakes, liver is great I have not touched alcohol for 16 years, but hey before that dangerous levels, for sure fish and chips almost daily, worked on a farm fried breakfast every morning,,???? guy I worked for same diet, smoked until 60, never drank a drop, died at 92 I am happy with my health loving cycling to and fro to the farm, lugging bales and grass I will keep 'earning' my ice cream and cakes thank you it seems to increase my 'luck' health-wise never been one to ask doctors if they can find something wrong or if my waist is too wide for my height ???? you see I know because my trousers get too tight ????

Every time I see the weight watchers threads, I kind of wonder why I am so lucky to enjoy all the stuff others seek to deny themselves,???????????? Then I consider how active I am for my age, with the understanding that if my weight creeps up I have luxury of going a week without and everything is ok again ????

How would you deal with peripheral family member who we will say splashed out on a new truck but now required a loan because ends were not meeting? And given the circumstances little chance of making repayment? My own family are very close, often offer assistance on the few occasions it is required before a request is made, but we respect the fact that in reality we are responsible and first we must plan and make decisions that will not affect others We understand that if everyone stretches the financial situation to the limits then none of us has that family fall back in case of genuine, not self inflicted emergency - that is where to me, the respect, honor, values, and love for each other is best reflected

I agree even now in the west the working generation pay the pensions In the cities your claim that the parents need their children may well be true, in the rural communities there are a surprising amount of self sufficient oldies, I know of a few who still occasionally provide financial support to their working children, the subsistence model is still very active The issue for me is salary levels, as things are the elite have a cheap, subservient, available, workforce supply, under the cloak of being good devoted respectful children perhaps 'culture' works very conveniently for some

So many differing circumstances, almost too numerous to list, there will be those on the forum who buy into the family care scene wholeheartedly and if it is working for them credit due I follow partially in that the family care philosophy slows if I perceive any hint of a participant extracting the urine or seeking to take advantage How about a situation where you are working your nuts off to give the wife enough baht to help out her parents, and the parents never have anything because they are generously jai dee with relatives and friends Just by way of example ???? should you be pleased the parents are receiving good karma? Or perhaps annoyed they are spraying your assistance against the wall ????

I've mostly been of the opinion if the slip is easily recognised, don't try to fool anybody In this case rather than bring it to their attention, I would however give them the opportunity to spot it, and either ignore it or suggest a fix The reality being, it has happened, you can't change it so a solution may or may not be necessary The level of difficulty in providing a solution is up to immigration, that may well rise if they catch trying to adjust the paperwork How are the bank going to issue the letter?

Move because confrontation in this situation has very limited chance of success, and you may encounter continued ramifications moving is almost a sure fire solution if you choose your next residence carefully

Well years ago in Phuket it was party, sometimes transferred to the beach to watch the sun come up, drink until you needed to sleep after a little light exercise, pool/snooker, dominoes, darts, yes and connect 4 Converse with the new arrivals, sort out food, never a phone in sight Good enjoyable times Now probably spend as much time on my phone as the kids do "Chained to my desktop" ???? where do these Dreamworld ideas originate.
