Man Held For Killing British-Thai Youth Over Drug Deal
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
I agree. Knowing the vast amount of information out there pointing to the danger to life of incredibly addictive drugs, I can't imagine why anyone would dabble in them in the first place. No doubt there'll be several apologists, they might even have invented a syndrome for it as with other types of bad behaviour. Back to the subject in hand, RIP young man and I hope the girl is safe. -

I know what you mean, even though others don't. -
I think it comes from the assumption that all farang are rich and all Thais are poor.

Fatal Gunfight Occurs in Surat Thani Hotel Parking Lot
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Southern Thailand News
Just two humans I'm afraid who'd kill each other with or without their guns. -
I'm was an experienced motorbike rider of many years in the UK and managed to stay accident free. My first time on two wheels in Thailand (Koh Chang) I had a prang due to a pickup appearing on my side of the road on a bend. That was 16 years ago and I haven't ridden a motorbike on public roads here since. The most I do is run my daughter's bike around the golf course perimeter when she's away and ride my bicycle on the same road for exercise. It's almost traffic-free. Doesn't matter how experienced you are, the number of idiots on the road here make it likely that you're going to come a cropper sooner or later.

Thai man fined and sentenced to prison over craft beer review
jesimps replied to snoop1130's topic in Central Thailand News
You know someone has made an impression when people still bang on about them decades after they leave power. Bit like Pres Trump and PM Thatcher. -
also, their crap will fertilise your frontage. Dogs in my small community are a constant menace. Not many are strays, most their owners just let them wander. Apart from picking up their waste, there's the constant noise from them, day and night. Some are even threatening. As you may guess, I've gone off dogs since I came here.

My electric bill was always high when I lived in a Pattaya condo.

Too much is when "to" is spelled wrong. Unless you aren't an English speaker, then you may be excused.

Maybe Asian women enjoy looking after their man.

Agreed. Thai savoury dishes are always sweet, maybe to do with the sauce. They usually have extra sugar on the tables too. I only eat Thai food when my missus cooks it at home. Love Chinese and Indian grub

I had the nicest Thai neighbours you could imagine. Unfortunately they had nine dogs, which they kept shut in the garden. Never walked. You can imagine the noise they made 24/7. Fortunately, they've moved and the present owner only has one dog which is fairly quiet because it is regularly walked by its farang owner. I don't have any dogs, which is bliss. Unfortunately others in the community do, usually the mandatory four or more.

It's the usual "Never ending story" in the Pattaya area, it began on the 13th and probably won't finish until the 21st going out towards Sattahip. We've had five days of loud bass-heavy music in the Phoenix Golf area and yesterday I got bombarded by water-throwers passing through Huay Yai on what must have been their day.

Finnish man accused by neighbours of insulting Thai people
jesimps replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
Nor am I, but in a civilised society, you have to show restraint. Same with club bouncers who beat the crap out of awkward customers, when they should just restrain and show them the door. -
Finnish man accused by neighbours of insulting Thai people

"Same would happen in the US, in Europe or in any other Asian country." No it wouldn't and if it did, the people who committed the assault would be arrested and charged. Incomers to the UK are whinging and insulting us all the time, take that awful "Dr" Shola for one. However, she's still in one piece, unfortunately. -
This happened some 15 years back. I had a mate here who while travelling on a Pattaya baht bus along Second Road saw a Thai guy hitting a woman. He stopped the bus and tried to intervene, only to be beaten up by the Thai guy, a group of motorcycle taxi riders and the woman! Even knowing this, I think most guys would find it difficult not to get involved.

Security guard stomps on American tourist’s head in Phuket (video)
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
I think most of us would agree that the American guy is at fault here and many would say that he was asking for it. However, the job of security staff is to safely subdue the troublemaker and eject them from the club without causing undue injury to them. Stomping on someone's head is not safely subduing. Doormen here are similar to the UK 50 or so years back, when being thrown out of a club would be accompanied by a severe beating. It was one of the perks of being a bouncer. -
The cement render on both sides should give them a fair bit of strength.. I have air cons and compressors on my block walls. All ok after nine years.
