I'm not trying to condone murder, but everyone has his breaking point and loud music in the middle of the night is one thing that brings me close to it. I'm not a violent person, but there have been a few occasions when (fortunately) the wife has talked me out of charging out to the source of the noise and causing mayhem. To some, loud noise in the early hours is more than an annoyance, it's torture. I personally hope the judge takes this into account when sentencing.

The Bualuang mBanking (Bangkok Bank) App Is A Malicious Threat?
jesimps replied to Dmaxdan's topic in Mobile Devices and Apps
I have a Vivo phone and the same thing happened to me. Uninstalled it and downloaded a new app from the Play Store. So far ok. -
There have been occasions here when loud noise has caused me to come very close to losing my self control. When the bass noise pressure is so powerful that it's acting like a weapon on your brain and no matter where in your house you go, you can't escape it, that's when I can imagine a person could snap. Especially at 3am. I'm not condoning this killing, but I can understand how this guy was driven to lose his rag.

Thailand’s new entry fee – boon or bust for tourism?
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If that's the case, why is it cheaper to buy a return ticket UK-Thailand from the UK end than here? Not being a smart ass, just hoping you can let me know the reason. -
In a few days time it'll be that X100. In my small area of the country there were at least four very loud parties going on yesterday from afternoon to past midnight. Bass-heavy music, laser strobes the lot. Tonight will be even worse. This morning, half a dozen cars arrived at the big house next door, so they'll be giving it whompo. The Omicron gremlins will love it.

Lots of stupid locals about too. There was a very loud party on the golf course which, my house adjoins, on Christmas evening. You may depend there'll be a right old knees up on New Year's Eve, then when they all return to their home provinces, Omicron will be well and truly shared amongst everyone. Why they don't stop inter-province travel for all but essential travel is beyond me. You'd think they'd have learned from Songkran and NY.

British man's visit to wife in Buriram turns into Covid Christmas Nightmare

German friend of mine is in hospital now with covid, he hasn't left the country in donkey's years. Doesn't have a clue who he caught it from. -
I wouldn't have known it if I hadn't read it with my own two eyes. Prostitution in Thailand, well I never.

After new year it'll be in the tens of thousands when everyone returns from their home province. Last night even, on Phoenix Golf Course, there was a party with extremely loud music going on and this afternoon, it sounded like the old boom boxes were warming up for this evening. They don't have to worry about visitors, it's already here and being spread at a rate of knots by the locals.

Immigration bust foreigners partying in Bangkok amid "Omicron" fears
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Problem is that people of my generation remember it being the accepted term for referring to African looking people. Referring to them as "black" was considered racist. There've been many PC terms used over the years, I honestly don't know what the current one is. "White" person has never changed, as indeed it shouldn't. -
I agree. They have something we desperately want. They have some rules which we think are unnecessary, but we comply to obtain that thing. If a covid certificate becomes necessary, then like the Kor Ror 2 and TM30 etc, either produce it or kiss your visa bye bye. Actually, I think this would be one of their less ridiculous rules and would have no problem in complying.

Bangkok must be different to Pattaya and surrounding areas, because here I see countless Thais without masks. I agree though anyone breaking the law by not wearing one, farang or Thai, should be booked. I also think that because there are a lot of elderly farang here, a lot of them forget to pull up their mask after exiting their home or car. I've done it countless times, the last being yesterday. It's incredibly embarrassing, because I don't want the locals to think that I'm an uncaring foreigner. I ask my Thai wife to let me know if I forget, but her memory's worse than mine. There's no cure for a failing memory.

Renew UK Passport. Where to park the car?

Get a slip from the passport place to hand in on the way out, so you get free parking. -
International travel in Covid times - my experience yesterday.

I used to do the same thing in the British Army. You could walk around the camp all day carrying a clipboard and pen and not get bothered. Looks like you're on a mission. -
I actually prefer the quiet Loy Kratong. I imagine it's similar to what the original festival was like ie peace and tranquility without the bass-heavy, stress-inducing "music". Here in Ban Amphur, although quieter than previous years, I still had to close my bedroom window at 11:45 pm because of it. Same on Friday evening. Don't know where the noise comes from as I live on the edge of the golf course in the middle of nowhere.

20k THB reward for people who report law breaking motorcyclists
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
There aren't enough hours in the day to be doing this. Does it include those with no lights; no helmets; having illegal sidecars attached; using the wrong side of the road; riding on pavements; texting and riding with 3 or more people to a bike? Please treat these questions as rhetorical, because we all know that no action will be taken.
