Thailand Affirms Neutral Stance on Russia-Ukraine Crisis
jesimps replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
What back story, that a peaceful independent country is attacked by the big bully next door? Can't see any other backstory unless you believe Putin's propaganda. -
I've been married to my Thai wife for thirteen years. She used the same words when we got together "I stay with you, you look after me". However, she's worked as a teacher in a local school for our entire marriage. I'm no worse off now than I was in either of my first two marriages to English women.

Sale of virtual land crashes Ethereum
jesimps replied to OneMoreFarang's topic in Cryptocurrency News
The richest group in crypto are the deceased, which convinces me that the best policy is to hold on for dear life and cut out the panic buys and sells. If you're one of the living, you need blx of steel to stick to this method. -
Sale of virtual land crashes Ethereum

There are a lot of crypto millionaires out there who would disagree with you. However, I wouldn't say no to a few bars of gold to use in a currency collapse. -
British press support UK pensioners losing out in Thailand
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
They do still tax us. I've been forced to pay UK tax for the past 15 years living in Thailand. Not only on my pensions, but on any investments I make. -
Sounds so logical the way you put it, but many are being scammed on expensive insurance and worse still, being landed with huge hospital bills purely on suspicion of them having the virus. If the insurance companies aren't given definite proof of Covid, they simply refuse to pay out.

Sounds like the dragon lady's back. She must've had the day off when I did my last extension in September because I printed 4 pics per A4 sheet.

Why are westerners so offended over the word farang? Get over it.
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Sounds to me like the OP is offended by the fact that he thinks foreigners should be offended, but aren't. I'd also like to know what offensive name Thais are known by in the US other than Thais or Asian. Just another non-farang trying to cause racial strife. -
Is a dry Songkran good or bad news for Thailand?
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Even when I was young I can't imagine me spending the whole day squirting water at people who were doing exactly the same thing without getting bored to death. I did just that in the first of my fifteen years of living here and swore I'd never do it again. Which I haven't. -
CCSA to Consider Proposal to Suspend Test & Go and Thailand Pass
jesimps replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Most of the increase after Songkran will be from inter-province travel by the locals. -
In the main water throwing areas both foreigners and Thais are the culprits, but out of town, it's almost exclusively locals. In the Banglamung area, both in and out of town, motorcyclists are fair game. In fact, they seem to be the favourite target. No way would I take my m/bike out during Songkran, which in the Pattaya area, has about another nine days to go.
-
When are this lot going to grow up and realise that chucking bucketloads of water at motorcyclists is incredibly dangerous, as proved by countless Songkran deaths and injuries over the years. Did anyone imagine that it'd be water sprinkling this year, not throwing? I festering well didn't. Songran, the worst holiday on the planet, except for maybe Holi in India.

My wife's idea of a tablecloth is a 6' x 4' sheet of decorative plastic which she buys from the local supermarket. Reminds me of the table covering we had when I was a kid in Liverpool. Very easy to wash off the stains and brush off the crumbs.

14 year old admits to organizing her mum's murder - two in custody
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
It's about as popular as "break failure" in traffic accidents. -
Well done the owner of the blue pills. For seven years I had nine dogs living next door to me. At first, they used to just let them wander about and they practically lived just outside my front gate. Then they decided to fix the garden wall after which the dogs were shut in, that's when the noise problems started. Because the animals were getting no exercise, they barked incessantly day and night. I never complained because I wanted to live in peace with the neighbours, who were Thai. Fortunately, they moved away a few weeks back taking the animals with them and the new owner is a farang who only has two dogs. Still one too many in my opinion. Why anyone wants to own more than one of the noisy beggars is beyond me.

Termites! Any plasterboard ceilings will start to collapse next, they eat the paper from them. I speak from experience. Get the professionals in. Quick!

Shabu shop hits back with defamation threat against complaining customer
jesimps replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I don't understand. Surely if you order and pay for food, you leave whatever you want. It's yours! Unless of course (seems strange) you just pay for the slices of meat you eat. Did they finish a normal order and then order an extra portion of meat, which they then refused to eat? This seems the more likely explanation.
