Non O Retirement 90 Day Jomtien
ubonjoe replied to thapsak's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
That is the normal process. A non-o visa is required to apply for a extension of stay. You can apply for the one year extension at any time during the last 30 days of the 90 day stay allowed by the visa. The 800k baht will have to be in the bank for 2 months on the day you apply Yes -
Since the power of attorney is for financial matters I suggest you get it notarized at the embassy. Not sure a Thai notary would be accepted for that purpose. Moved to the US and Canada sub forum.

90-day online report (working?)
ubonjoe replied to Presnock's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I would say it is not normal. It could be that your email service is blocking attachments. -
Looking at again it appears the insurance is only the covid 19 insurance needed for entry to the country. The amount now is $20,000 not $100k. On the embassy website the requirements do not mention a amount for the money in the bank when applying for a non-o based upon marriage. Source: https://thaievisa.go.th/tourist-visa

Are you applying for a non-o visa for retirement? The 10k baht in the bank and the medical insurance is only required for the type of non-o visa. If on a state pension proof of your income from it can also be used.

Non O Retirement 90 Day Jomtien
ubonjoe replied to thapsak's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Your home country being closed is not a requirement to apply for a 60 day covid 19 extension. -
The 40k baht can only be the aliens husbands. From clause 2.18 of immigration order 327/2557 for extensions of stay. "(6) In the case of marriage to a Thai woman, the alien husband must earn an average annual income of no less than Baht 40,000 per month or must have no less than Baht 400,000 in a bank account in Thailand for the past two months to cover expenses for one year."

Non O Retirement 90 Day Jomtien
ubonjoe replied to thapsak's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
If arriving next week you may be able to apply for a 30 day extension of your visa exempt entry early and be able to apply for 60 day covid 19 extension on or before May 24th. That might even do the 60 day extension without doing the 30 day extension. -

Working whilst on Retirement Visa
ubonjoe replied to hhtown's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
It is possible to change the reason for a extension of stay from retirement to working. But the problem can be getting a work permit application approval letter while on a extension based upon retirement that would be needed for the extension based upon working application. -
Doing your online 90 day report early.
ubonjoe replied to giddyup's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
All of my 90 day reports have started from the day I did the report. The majority of offices do it the that way. The reporting window is 15 days before to 7 days after and that includes the report date when doing it in person. -
Non O Retirement 90 Day Jomtien
ubonjoe replied to thapsak's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You can apply for a non-o visa based upon retirement at Jomtien. You will not get the visa stamp for about 2 weeks after the day you apply for it since it has to be sent to the division level of immigration for approval. Requirements for the non-o application is here. https://www.immigration.go.th/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/9.FOR-RETIREMENT-PURPOSES-50-YEARS-OLD-NON-O.pdf You will have to apply for the one year extension at Jomtien during the last 30 days of the 90 days stay the visa allows if you apply for it there. Jomtien should do a certificate of residency after you apply for the non-o visa. -
As soon as you leave the country your report of staying longer than 90 days in the country is reset. Your next report is due 90 days from the day you enter the country. When you do the next online report you will use your new arrival date. If using this site for the report https://tm47.immigration.go.th/tm47/#/login it does not require a TM6 arrival card number. Only the mobile app still requires it.

Working whilst on Retirement Visa
ubonjoe replied to hhtown's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
You are wrong. The visa cannot be changed while in the country. But the reason for a extension of stay can be changed. A extension of stay only requires a non immigrant visa entry to apply for it. -
I cannot predict what will be needed in November. At this this time since your are fully vaccinated you would only have to stay in hotel for one night while awaiting for a covid 19 test result when you enter the country and then do a antigen test on day 5 using a test kit you would giving after arrival. The preflight covid 19 test is no longer required as of April 1st.
