Get one with removable cushions and removable covers so that you can wash them from time to time. Had ours ( from INDEX for 17,000 baht ) 13 years and it still looks presentable and got a few years left in it.

Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
Denim replied to Rimmer's topic in The War in Ukraine
All along the front lines, from the far north to far south Ukrainian soldiers will be following the news and their moral will be soaring. On the other side of no man's land the Russian soldiers will also be following the news and listening to propaganda about how the Ukrainian incursion has been halted and thrown back with crippling losses. At the same time they will be thinking..WTF ? Are we fighting in Russia now ? Is this what winning means ? -

Latest developments and discussion of recent events in the Ukraine War
Denim replied to Rimmer's topic in The War in Ukraine
Nope. It is Russia that has been making the threats and trying to make good on them. Unfortunately, Putin forgot that the west is also sensitive about its security and has rained on his parade. -

Indeed but Putin decided otherwise. And how has his two week military exercise furthered his stated aims ? More countries applying for NATO membership is how. Countries apply for NATO membership they are not annexed into it. -

Visa-free entry for Chinese nationals has many consequences
Denim replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well, the Chinese and Russians at least have a herd instinct and like to flock together and avoid integration as much as possible. This is good because it means they are all in a few places and not spread out all over the country. Where I live I have yet to see or hear either. Even westerners are very thin on the ground . -
Really cheap places may not be advertised on any website. A cheap , modern , detached property close to the city will likely prove impossible to find. However , a terraced 2 bedroom townhouse in a recently built moobahn might be had for around 5000 baht. For this price it might be very basic without air con , basic furniture or internet. But...you are in a house with a small front and back yard. To actually find a place like this might require several days footwork. If you don't have your own transport, rent some then using Google maps locate moobahns in the area you are focused on and visit them . You will eventually see signs on a gate saying...for rent ( hy chow ) .If you don't speak any Thai you must take a Thai speaker with you. They can ask around for you if anyone has a house to rent. All this is very time consuming but if you can't afford much then fancy places with all amenities will be beyond your budget. As a very long shot you could try to find a very local radio station and ask a DJ to ask on air for you.Again a Thai speaker will be needed to explain your situation. In the boonies a lot of these little radio stations are shoestring affairs on a tight budget. A lot of their revenue comes from plugging local folk remedies/medicine and adverts for local businesses. As I said, this is a long shot but it might just reach the ears of a compassionate local who will be pleased to help. Good luck and I hope your wife makes a full recovery. As an afterthought. If you have no time to do all this you could approach a WIN motorcycle stand, explain what you are looking for and offer a finders reward...enough to make them actually look. Leave them your phone number and keep your fingers crossed.

Activist Urges Quick Legal Action Against Move Forward MPs
Denim replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I'm not so sure. I think this person is a genuine, bona fide nutcase of his own volition. Not all loyal royalists are on someone's payroll. There are some real people out there who seriously believe royalty of any country are more than ordinary mortals. Once the seed of this belief germinates and becomes the focus of their respect and admiration, they are completely lost to logic, reasoning or intellectual persuasion. It is an article of faith with them and they will tolerate no contrary views. In other words, dangerous fanatics. -

Ex-Move Forward MPs to appoint executive committee of a new party
Denim replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Forming this new party will keep up the pressure on the dug in autocrats. Even if it again suffers the same fate as its predecessors , it is worth continuing the struggle and never giving up. The constitutional court has pulled this trick three times now and there will likely be a fourth since why change a winning strategy . However, in the end , as more incarnations are dissolved , it will become grotesquely obvious that the constitutional court is a long way from being unbiased . As it is now , this is already common knowledge to almost everyone , but for a small powerful minotity , it has not yet become a severe enough embarressment to give up the strategy . Nonetheless , in the end they will have to buckle under pressure or have another coup which if unsuccessfull will be their swansong. -

Ex-Move Forward Members Set to Launch New Political Party
Denim replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
More likely , Here Today Gone Tomorrow party Those that have been instrumental in killing off any threat to their hegemony will just continue to repeat the methods they have used so successfully up until now. They are 100% bound to find some fault with any new incarnation of MFP so don't expect a third time lucky scenario. Only huge and prolonged protests in every province can hope to make a dent in the status quo. -

Constitutional Court Insists All Respect Move Forward Party Verdict
Denim replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yea right. Fact is , democratic process has been trashed and the rule of law selectively applied. Again and again and again How about a little respect for the millions of votes ? Guess they don't mix in the right circles. -
Kuwaiti Man Causes Severe Accident in Pattaya (short)
Denim replied to Video News's topic in Video News and Updates
Riding against traffic and 4 on a motorcycle. Both illegal but in a country where ignoring traffic laws is perfectly normal ....accidents are frequent and soon forgotten. -
Oh well. Maybe you can guess a lucky lottery number as compensation. It seems pretty clear that even if there is a third incarnation of MFP , that attempts in every way to be squeaky clean , goal posts will be moved , rules bent and people banned for just about anything you can and cannot think of. They will not be allowed in any driving seat. It is sadly ironic that the war cry of Suthep and his blind yellow shirt follows was ' Patiroop ' ...............reform. Yet when a bona fide new party easily wins an election on a platform of reform , suddenly ' reform ' is a dirty word. Clearly , the only reform the PDRC really wanted was a system that blocked out the popular vote so emphatically that no other reform would be possible and the rich and powerful would maintain their hegonomy with the thinnest of democratic veneers meant to impress the international community. As for people who say the Thais are gutless for putting up with this .....short memories.

If you are going to camp I recommend the cool season. In the hot season you won't sleep and in the wet season....rained out. There is even a well equiped Campground in Bangkok ( Bangkok Backyard ) on the edge of a lake with full ameneties. Looks ok and quite popular although probably not much cheaper than a hotel though.

They are. Served with mashed potatoes , carrots , broccoli and gravy. I have to make the pastry in the air con bedroom as not cool enough in the kitchen. Keep in freezer and only eat as a special treat.
