  1. This year our Jackfruit tree went bananas and produced 8 or 9 big fruits. We managed to enjoy one before the local squirrels ( galorks ) found out and have had a go at all the rest.
  2. No. I use it just about daily now , just once though before bed time. Once it had my keratosis under control i stopped applying it in the morning. If I miss a few days my keratosis does not immediatly flare up.
  3. Regarding keratosis , on another forum I came across a very useful tip for treating this condition. Apparently an Australian doctor discovered that Diclofenac Diethylamine gel is a very effective means to quickly bringing keratosis under control. It has not been peer tested but I can vouch for its effectiveness. In Australia they can get this in upto 5g strength. In the UK I managed to get some at 2.32g In Thailand the local generic types available only come in at 1g strength but is just as effective as the stronger ones. I swear this product although designed for giving muscular relief REALLY WORKS on keratosis is you apply it daily. Once after morning shower and once before bedtime. Takes about a week before you begin to see the results. Here is what I am currently using. One tube lasts well over a month. There are other brands as weel that are just as effective. This is a lot safer and cheaper to use than what the doctors recommend whish is mostly Aldara cream which is very expensive and works like a flame thrower .....burns everything not only the keratosis and takes months of use.
  4. Yup. Fair skinned and paying the price now for not using sun block from the get go back in 1979. Big mistake. Although I never sunbathe or sit out in the sun I have caught enough incidental sun on my head to give me a few rounds of skin cancers ( squamous carcinomas ) and keratosis. I have it under control now but it cost a lot of money in hospital visits ( including a plastic surgeon ) It is surprising how many Thais get cancer of some sort and it is one of the bigger killers in our neck of the woods. My worst experience of sunburn occured years ago whilst working in Bangkok. I managed to find myself in a relationship with the companies beautiful and educated head secretarry ( Asian but not Thai ) We decided to go to Cha am for a weekend break and I was looking forward to plenty of gratuitous hanky panky. After checking in at the hotel we went to the beach. Aware of my fragile skin we hired an umbrella and 2 chairs and I also wore a very light shirt most of the time ....and a hat. However , we were there a few hours and I did venture into the sea for a grope. Back at the hotel the evening came on and I pretty soon found myself spreadeagled on the bed with the air con on full blast looking like the red cross on a nurses uniform. Goodbye hanky panky hello misery and lost opportunity. If you are new here my advice is use sunblock and plenty of it.
  5. The 400,000 has to be in the bank for 2 full calendar months ( complete months, not one and 2 halves ) prior to the application for extension. Some offices ( but not all ) also require that the 400,000 does not dip below this amount during the under consideration period ( another month ). After approval you can use the money but 2 months before your next application the full amount has to be in the bank once again.
  6. Although I'm not that worried, I bought some extra money in before Jan 1st. As a precautionary measure I won't bring in any more for the next 6 months until the dust settles and the situation is clearer. During that time I will use my 400,000 extension lump as the need arises. I can top it up later or just stop doing extensions and revert to visa runs. Basically, kick the can down the road for as long as possible.
  7. Yup, after all, the Romans never built Stonehenge ,Maiden Castle , Silbury Hill etc. That's something I really miss about England. So much history that has survived the ravages of time and can be easily visited. Thailand does not have as many such places. Some yes, but nowhere near as many.
  8. Like the USA used to be part of the United Kingdom , which in turn was part of the Roman Empire , so maybe Italy should reclaim it . But then again , a lot of Thailand was part of the Khmer Empire so ...........time passes and things change.....sometimes quite a lot.
  9. " Sawadi krap. Is this Chinese Navy headquarters ? " ' No....itsa airfarce ' " Sorry krap. I wang de wong ber ' ' Sirriy iriot '
  10. Thank you Forrest. Most riveting.
  11. Oh for heavens sake. This beach is not at Cha am. Talk about shifting sands spelling
  12. Yes. Totally agree and that's what I was refering to. The first time I got that DIY hazelnut coffee from a 7/11 gas station heading north out of Bangkok I was smitten. Really liked the taste as did the wife. Unfortunately seems to be as rare as hens teeth and not been able to find any since.. But as you say , coffee afficionados will call this heresy and like to hang draw and quasrter us on the forecourt as a warning to others. Another place that does really good , made from scratch coffee is a little stall at a coach truck stop at Chai Badan heading south to Bangkok. Always pull in there to eat and grab a coffee. Served in a paper cup but always piping hot and well worth 25 baht.
  13. That's what I think when I visit a gas station and sit outside 7/11 drinking my coffee and watch people across the forecourt drinking coffee in Amazon for twice the price. Muppets. But how much is a Starbucks coffee anyway ? Never tried one.
  14. Rotary spit ? Well, can't make lamb as not available but I just thin slice a chicken breast or fillet of pork, fry in a little olive oil then chop up and mix with tomato, lettuce, cucumberand spring onion mixed with mayo, thousand island dressing and a little siricha sauce and ground black pepper. Heat the wraps quickly in a non oiled pan.
  15. Used to be a bloke selling them in our local Petchabun town for 29 baht a pop. Delicious. He left so have to wait for market days now where there are others. Alternatively, I just buy a pack of wraps myself from Tesco and make them myself. Too easy. Makes a change from rice.
  16. Just like Pattaya girls. They have to ignore the wrinkles etc and focus on the money , just doing and saying whatever is necessary as part of their profession.
  17. Your medal is in the post. As for vegetables, I was in Big C today and wanted a small broccoli for my supper.. I picked the smallest on display which was not bigger than my fist , but enough for 1 person. On weighing it was priced at 69 baht !! Must have been grown on the International Space Station. I put it back and got a bigger one in our village store for 35 baht.
  18. WOW. That's a first for Thailand
  19. Nothing exciting ever happens to me. I must get out more this year.

Hope you told them that such a huge quantity of cheese that constitutes the bulk of the moons matter has a luminence strong enough to reach our planet. Basic science but Thais don't eat much cheese hence the gap in their knowledge.
  21. Yes, that's what I found and what little choice they had was expensive as well. Took a chance with Lazada and it has worked out OK.
  22. I have not timed it so can't say. But when I use it I can cut all 4 hedges at our place ( about 40 meters chest high ) wiithout running out of juice. After each use I clean and oil the blades and immediately recharge the battery . I don't wait for the battart to run down. This way it has never died on me. But even it did I have 2 spare batteries from my blower that fit this as well. I gave up on cable run tools as too much hassle to get out the cable. However, if you really have a long garden and a head high hedge you can buy this with the 2 battery option so you won't run out of juice.
  23. I bought this one on Lazada over a year ago as using shears was not doing my arthritis any good. I wanted a battery model for simplicity, range and ease of use. Exactly what I needed. Has performed well and still going strong. As for sharpening ? Not needed yet. Just a wipe down after use and a drop of oil ( provided ) on the blades before each cut. After my angle grinder this is my second most useful tool. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i3741273002-s14198588156.html?urlFlag=true&mp=1
