Hot weather blamed for increased power consumption and charges
Denim replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Funnily enough my air con works better in the day than night. I think this is due to the fact that the walls , that have retained daytime heat , radiate it out when the sun goes down and are not properly cool until the morning. So during the morning and early afternoon the walls are still not that hot, so air con works fine. Come 6.30 pm the inside walls are very warm to touch so the air con has to fight with this heat. -

It's a mad world. Death for cannabis possession ......but selling alcohol......no problem. In Pakistan , say something negative about the prophet ( who never prophesied about anything ) and you will get torn apart by an angry mob ( in the name of Allah the compassionate and merciful ) In Thailand , say something LM , and you can get banged up for 15 years. The only consistencies are the madness and injustice .

Absolutely. Our house is raised up from the ground by 80cm rather than being on the ground. This to allow for airflow under the floors. As an experiment I crawled under there last year and painted the underside of our living room floor ( under house ) white to see if it reflected heat better than grey unpainted cement. No perceivable difference topside between living room and other rooms. At least I tried. This is the first year that in the late afternoon , the floor tiles actually feel warm as opposed to a bit cooler ! Lying down on the floor is no longer a cool option !

I recently put up some fake brick panels on one wall ( warmest ) inside the bedroom to try and help keep the cool air from the conditioner in !! The self adhesive panels are foam backed and about an eighth of an inch thick. 80 baht each panel from Mr DIY. That's how desperate I am to be as pro active as possible along the lines of every little helps ( maybe ). Cant do every wall , but I might do another small wall in the kitchen in the same stuff.

Back to the drawing board. I read somewhere recently that Musk was kind of expecting some kind of setback. This is bigger than he was thinking of.

When its this hot the only real solution for most people is air con. I have tried every passive method to keep the house cooler and they work. Outside on the balcony in the shade ,40 degrees. In living room 32. BUT .....32 although cooler is , in my opinion not cool enough. To feel comfortable i need a temperature of no more than 28 , and for that I need the air conditioning on most of the day.

Opposition builds to the magic of Khaosad 420 on World Cannabis Day

Exactly. Smokers working towards a crackdown or ban. They need to learn how to be discrete if they want to smoke. -

In those days it was a cash payment. No pay , no go.

Indeed. I once flew Aeroflot and a Thai girl flying back to her hubby in Sweden didn't have the money. I paid it for her and she said she would suck me off later in the toilets of the plane. Didn't happen of course ( shades of unlucky Alf ....oh <deleted> ) as we got put in a different section of the aircraft.

I remember when you had to pay 500 baht to leave !!! Never mind getting in.

Security guard stomps on American tourist’s head in Phuket (video)
Denim replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
My post preceded the youtube post that the American made clarifying the mistakes made by the Thai media. I translated from the Thai at the top of the thread. I thought there must have been a reason why the fight kicked off. However , there are always two sides to a story hence my use of the word in brackets ( supposedly ). -

The altercation was about a smartphone that the DJ had stolen ( supposedly ) from the American tourist who was seeking redress. -

Depends where you choose to live. The tourist ghettoes are not typical of the rest of the country. -
ACT report exposes a decade of corruption involving politicians in Thailand
Denim replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
According to the report, several politicians accused of corruption plan to participate in the upcoming election. And to name them would be defamation . No wonder this law stays on the books. Works out well for the lot of them.- 29 replies

Yes....otherwise it might stain. Normally there will be a small hole to put an Allen key in somewhere to do this . WD 40 should penetrate and lubricate.

There is one cheap fix I always try first and sometimes it performs miracles. Give it a generous spray with WD40 and let that soak in overnight. Might get lucky and fix it for a quid.
