  1. Oh well, let it out....won't hurt. For less than 900 baht we had a bedroom , a living room , two bathrooms, a kitchen with electric hob and microwave etc , two air conditioners and comfy sofa. The coffee shop also did a very good breaky for 80 baht. 3 minute walk from The Mall Korat !! What more could any man want. I spent almost as much on a bottle of wine from the Gourmet food court there. But , if you really want to laugh , PM me and I will send you pics of me having a hot bubble bath.
  2. Sure thing. https://www.booking.com/hotel/th/crystal-resort-korat.en-gb.html?aid=356980&label=gog235jc-1FCAMo3QE4rAJICVgDaN0BiAEBmAEJuAEXyAEM2AEB6AEB-AECiAIBqAIDuALXyIOjBsACAdICJGRkMzQwMzFkLTM3MjAtNGM4Ni1iMWZhLWIzZGFjOGRhYjM5NNgCBeACAQ&sid=0ef0a8e1f53d913e8fb7dc3db09b8ee1&all_sr_blocks=688659801_0_2_0_0;checkin=2023-05-22;checkout=2023-05-23;dest_id=900120849;dest_type=landmark;dist=0;group_adults=2;group_children=0;hapos=11;highlighted_blocks=688659801_0_2_0_0;hpos=11;matching_block_id=688659801_0_2_0_0;no_rooms=1;req_adults=2;req_children=0;room1=A%2CA;sb_price_type=total;sr_order=popularity;sr_pri_blocks=688659801_0_2_0_0__44276;srepoch=1684071542;srpvid=e7455ffa3325010a;type=total;ucfs=1&#hotelTmpl Sorry for the long link. I won't post pictures of our room or me enjoying a bubble bath except by request.
  3. A couple of days ago I took my wife to Korat to visit her sick brother in hospital. I decided to wait in the on site Dunkin Donuts to suck up the air and wifi for an hour. Ordered a hot cappuccino and donut with low expectations. Donut was free and fresh ( promotion ) and the cappuccino was really good. Piping hot in a big cup. Price...50 baht. Don't know if this is par for the course but way better than all the Amazons I have tried. We then returned to our Presidential Suite at our hotel. Well, why slum it like Steven when you can have a suite ( This is true not a joke. Amazing value for less than 1000 baht ).
  4. Show him the way to go home , he's tired and he wants to go to bed.
  5. Body of 15-year-old girl accused of luring British boy to his death in Thailand is found in woods https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-12079637/Body-15-year-old-girl-accused-luring-British-boy-death-Thailand-woods.html Mods might decide new thread needed.
  6. Yes. There is a ban on sales during election. Big problem for tourists.
  7. They will be totally wasted, but not in a way they had hoped
  8. Stick them under a microscope bit it still won't change them. They have reaped the benefits of doing what was required of them, collected a nice salary for four years and they will still attempt to pervert the course of democracy. They will just have to more circumspect to achieve the same results. What have they got to lose ? Certainly not credibility since they didn't have any to start with.
  9. Ok, when is the next ' returning happiness ' event likely ?
  10. Make sure it is an official marriage. Just getting married the traditional way is not recognized for getting an extension based on marriage.
  11. So I've got time to get a beer from the fridge before we get images of ET.
  12. Whether you want them or not , I would think very seriously about what kind of life they might have given the way the world is currently going. The planet needs more humans like Thailand needs a new temple or woman's hairdressers.
  13. Honey , I'm going to be late beecause the engine got hives
  14. Smoked it for 20 years. Never effected me that way. Oh yes it did, stop kidding yourself. What do you know about it ? I was the one smoking . You were always on the bottle. I resent that remark.
  15. Frankly , I think his price is on the low side. By the time its all fitted etc the final bill could be nearer 15,000 IMO .....but too many variables to be more accurate.
  16. Well, the thread title is sure to attract the Thaksin haters , so if they have any say in the matter it won't happen. Foaming at the mouth expats will impact tourism very negatively.
  17. Really hard to say. My taxi driving Thai friend says about 8000 but bound to be a lot of extras including labor and any other parts needed plus of course condition of replacement engine will effect the price.
  18. Unfortunately , disposing of Pheu Thai would not solve the problem for the ultra nationalists since a greater danger is the Move Forward party. If people can't vote for PT , their vote will shift to MF which given their agenda , will not be tolerated. So, pretty clear that something will need to be done to hobble Move Forward either before or after the election.
  19. I gave our air con a respite and joined the mob perusing the shelves in our local Big C. Car park full so I thought I would be in a long queue at checkout. Nope. Breezed through. Just folk sucking up the free air con. Beats joining the pack of dogs sleeping outside 7/11 doors.
  20. Same here. We built her a small place next to our bungalow on youngest sisters plot. Wife shares caring duties with other sister who lives next to us on the other side. They have a 3 on 3 off rota but my wife who is 60 does most of the cooking and cleaning as other sister is not that well. The youngest sister who works on Bangkok was just up and had an air con unit installed as it has been like a furnace recently.
  21. Which is what wife and I are doing now. Left Bangkok 8 years ago to be near MIL. Would never consider going back to Bangkok now. Nice and peaceful here.
  22. Take off cover , blow out dust and crud ..............WD40.........good to go.
  23. Cheap as chips .????
  24. I think all the insulation I have put above the ceiling is paying off. 42 outside on the balcony but 34 in the living room. Nonetheless....still too hot to flop on sofa in the evening. Just hiding in my man cave at 28. Fortunately , the forecast for the rest of this week is lower .....34. Today is the last really hot day for a while.
  25. I just turn the air con on in our bedroom / office , set it to 28 then don't leave the room except to cook and eat. I would rather pay an extra 50 baht a day on electricity then be uncomfortable.
