  1. You're not the only one. Worst hot season I have ever experienced. Car air con barely coping when driving and worse if stationary. Our home is built of Q Con blocks and there is 6 inches of insulation on top of the ceiling . Even so, the air con in the bedroom is struggling a bit in the daytime and is on about 16 hours a day. Only off when we go out or early morning. Temperature is 40 in the shade on the balcony. 32.5 in the living room ( no air con ) and I'm keeping the bedroom at 27. Everywhere I go , all the Thais I deal with ask me. " how do you like the weather ? " They are suffering just as much. Not a soi dog to be seen....all in hiding. I wish Prayuth would do a rain dance or something.
  2. The horror ,........... the horror .
  3. Nah. I think the Christmas tree is more dangerous.
  4. Oh well....time to start banning them again for some trumped up minor infringement.
  5. Try the Incontinental hotel

    Isaan Woman

Yup....only you. Nobody else experiences this. Hope that helps.
  7. Seek and ye shall find. and this seems to be the case here. If they are still only testing and not yet operating that bill sounds over the top to me. I would not use that hospital . I prefer somewhere less in the news.
  8. At some stage in the future you may want to enter the roof space for one of several reasons ( check on leaks , add more insulation, check wiring etc. To facilitate safe and easy access in the attic, I had the builders weld steel walk ways along the length of the house with a couple of spurs running off this. Now , whenever I go up in the attic I can move around easily without having to worry about falling through the ceiling. The guys from 3BB really appreciated this the other day when they had to replace some wiring that a mouse had nibbled through. They said they were often unable to work in attics and had to run cables along outside walls then drill through to wire people up.. On the subject of ventilation , we had ventilated soffits all around the roof overhang plus ventilation slats front and rear. Nonetheless there is zero air movement in the attic and it gets very hot. We do have 6 inches of insulation on top of the ceiling but if I was doing things again I might try installing a couple of large extractor fans to suck out the hot air late in the afternoon around 5 pm ish. Because there is little air movement in the attic it retains the heat for quite a long time after the sun has gone down. There is a forum dedicated only to building houses in Thailand. Very useful info there and I believe it is not treading on this forums toes : https://www.coolthaihouse.com/forum/
  9. Here we go again , happy as can be. The OP should follow his mates advice : " go to the Phillipines mate & have a bloody good time whilst you got the chance ! Talks the talk , time to walk the walk.
  10. Like the family resort of Pattaya. A quiet fishing village that only few have heard of.
  11. If they are not worried about STDs then no chance they will worry about pollution.
  12. Sometimes money talks. I once approached the Bank of Ayudhya to open an account. Cannot. Need work permit bla bla bla. Ok, no problem. Can you ask the manager to recommend a bank where I can deposit this 2 million baht . Wait. Manager appears and opens the account for me.
  13. I insinuate nothing. Just recalling an incident from memory. A dumb thing to do wherever it is done.
  14. There was a similar incident in the UK a few years back on the M4 near Reading. Also a woman.
  15. If Pheu Thai win the election ( and don't then get banned ) that ship will be back in the harbor with the anchors out. Anyone who thinks things have gone too far for any government to put the brakes on should start stocking up now !! The probable outcome will be legal medical cannabis but a crackdown on shops selling it over the counter. The fact that too much weed has been imported , hurting local growers , won't help. https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/thailands-promised-cannabis-bonanza-disappoints-politicians-trade-blame-2023-04-06/ Another problem has been the smokers themselves being less than discreet in pursuance of their hobby. Gently gently catch the monkey but too much publicity and waving of the flag has attracted the attention of the alarmed conservative Thais who want to turn the clock back. From the linked article : "In the early days, I could sell a kilo for between 350,000 and 400,000 baht ($10,200-$11,600)," said Srapathum, who runs three indoor farms. That sounds like BS to me . That's more like the retail price than the wholesale.
  16. Pictures like this look great but reality can be different. What with temperatures in the 40's plus reflected glare from the sand the possibility of seriously damaging your skin is very real. In the hot season I avoid beaches altogether. Just too uncomfortable and I've spent enough erasing skin cancer to have learnt my lesson.
  17. Urge people to save water but no sensible ban to stop water throwing during Songkran. Oh well, question of priorities I guess.
  18. You know you are old when the the idea of throwing water into a strangers face has lost any of the comic appeal it might have once had.
  19. I think the 6 inches of insulation above the ceiling is a big help. Reflective sheets behind some windows plus curtains and windows shut. But .......31.5 is still hot any way you look at it.
  20. 40 on our balcony yesterday in Petchabun. 31.5 in the living room.
  21. Does working illegally include vloggers. ? Seem to be hundreds of them.
  22. Absolute rubbish. The only negotiations Putin is interested in is Ukraine surrendering all the territories Putin wants , which are in fact less than he had originally wanted.
  23. There can be no meaningful negotiations until Russia withdraws all its troops from Ukrainian territory. Until this fundamental requirement is met the war will continue , more to the detriment of Russia than Ukraine.
  24. Agreed. An inspiration to many. Deserves to do well. Some 35 odd years ago , Thai friends introduced me to badminton which until then I had underrated as a very soft option to tennis. Completely wrong. The slightly slower speed puts every point up for grabs and long exhausting rallies are common even for beginners.. Used to play after work from 9.30 pm until 10.30 with a friend. Totally exhausted , back to my place for a bong and watch a rented video with some munchies until about 1 am. Slept like a log until up for work next day.
