Well, at least my dogs have got me well trained !!

Yes. Better safe than sorry. With Rabies , if you wait to see if you get any symptoms it is already too late. You are a dead man. Our new puppy / soi dog bit me a few weeks back and drew blood. Probably no big deal but to play safe went to the local hospital who told me I had done the right thing. I have now been 3 times. 2 shots into the skin each time. One in either arm. ! double shot remaining to be done on the 28th February. Total for the 8 shots ( which include Tetanus ) will be around 1000.

There used to be a very good one in the car park on top of Pantip Plaza 2 on Ngam Wong Wahn road just down from the mall. Only on weekends. Impossible to park there so park elsewhere. Painthip 2 has different floors dedicated to different things. 1st floor phones, 2nd floor amulets 3rd floor computers etc. Excellent food court there too. I used to buy vintage items here to sell online for profit. Here is a video of the store. The Flea market section begins at 13.45 minutes in. Closed during covid so not sure if re opened yet

Infamous British Drug Fugitive Arrested in Bangkok, Thailand
Denim replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
He was living under an assumed name. : https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-11739189/National-Crime-Agency-arrest-Richard-Wakeling-inThailand-run-five-years.html -
Depends on location. Tourist areas more expensive. We have discovered a new hotel on Ngam Wong Wahn for only 800. Would be 1500 or more on Sukhumvit. Not long opened, decent car park and garden, restaurant , nice furniture , netflix , soft beds etc. Wont last long at this rate now that tourism is picking up.

Wow. That was really slumming it. I always spent the extra 5 quid and flew Tarom !! With Aeroflot , the brick shothouse hostesses were so fat that they blocked the aisle just when you wanted to spend a penny. Faces carved in stone to resemble the back of a bus. To make love to one you would have needed a ladder and crampons.

Buriram wet market. Packed to the rafters with Hi So women on Friday afternoons looking for fresh veg etc. They are obviously hoping to bump into one of the Chidchob clan , crafty vixens !

Soon be facing a similar problem but since my mother would never agree to moving here I will have to make the move back to the UK to care for her for at least 6 months a year. Wife can't come with me as has to care for her own elderly mum next door to us. Good luck to the OP. I'm sure he's doing the right and best thing. Wish I had the option.

There is a high tech invention that has not yet become well known. It is a very esoteric , hush hush device called a telephonic ( or something like that ) whereby you can remotely call the immigration check point and get the up to date lowdown on crossings at this point. Sound like sci-fi fantasy to me but who knows...one day in the future might happen.

How hard is it to re-sell cars in Thailand?
Denim replied to Startmeup's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Sold one used car privately and one to a dealer . No problems. Dealers need to make money so you have to shop around for the best offer. Other dealers will let you sell your car on their forecourt at the price you want but take a cut for introducing the buyer. -
Not much good to people with long nails . Bum guns much more hygienic. Having said that , I checked into a hotel once where the water pressure was actually scary. OK if you wanted to clean your teeth and esophagus simultaneously but not otherwise.

Mirrors absent on motorbikes, is this a 'thing'?
Denim replied to notrub's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
The reason for this is that it makes the bike 0.0000001 kph faster. Less weight and drag. -

Fact is , it's very easy to give up drinking. I know, I've done hundreds of times already. As for a goal I would like to achieve ....for me , to do the Cape Wrath Trail would be a huge dream fulfilled. Wanted to go there since I was a teenager but spent my life abroad. Going for a home visit in April and am tempted to give it a go but at 65 would probably be too much. That plus to buy all the hiking gear from scratch plus getting to the start point at Fort William then back again to the Isle of Wight could easily cost 600 pounds or more. Might have a few bottles of wine and a walk along the beach instead.

What to do if Thai police stop you and attempt a ‘shake-down’
Denim replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They helped me once to get a refund from a travel agent. Thai airways had refunded the return leg of an unused flight to the agent I got the ticket from. Agent refused to give me the 6000 baht. Went to tourist police who sent an officer with me to get the money from the agent. The agent span a cock and bull pack of lies to the police officer unaware that I speak Thai. She was very surprised when I spoke to them both in Thai and she was caught in her lie. I got the money back but she had to perform a final act of spite. She had checked the ticket with my passport ( same name ) but instead of returning my passport she threw it in the rubbish bin and told me to get it myself. Both the officer and I raised our eyebrows but said nothing. I picked up the bin , emptied the whole contents of it onto her work desk and retrieved my passport from the detritus She was hopping mad but I had what I came for and we left. Back in the police car the policeman had a good laugh and said ' that showed her ' then took me to the hotel with a wai and a handshake.- 225 replies
