so correct me if I am wrong
of all the cases in Thailand only one has been a local infected in Thailand - a taxi driver
all the other cases Thailand seems to be claiming were infected before they arrived in Thailand...……………...Came from London - transfer Hongkong, pretty much every tourist came from somewhere - were they infected before arriving
How many Thais have been infected in country - apparently only one, a taxi driver

I'm not really getting tired ????
I wanted to believe all the claims that mask are useless and the worst case serious research that I have found only concluded that there is little statistical difference between a surgical mask and a N95. Even the CDC who get cited are contradicting themselves so I concluded they have an agenda. The only source that get cited are from newspapers so I don't consider them valid. Funny how many peoples claim they don't trust the government unless it fits what they want to believe.
so that is your opinion - thanks for sharing
it's as useful as a fart in a spacesuit which will not leak the smell until removed - oh and likely better protection from covid 19 than an N95 mask

It's getting tiring since there is so many scientific and researchers on this board who have done their research but I will leave this here for the few who have the patience to read and trust science: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2440799/
Tiring for you
There are 2x types of posts here
- personal opinion (which for actual medical stuff is pointless), we can pass opinion and have discussion about the merits of authorities being truthful etc but those are just opinions
- Claiming facts based on their own research from official professional bodies (like the WHO or the UK's CMO) or if the poster is a medical professional
you have posted a link to an assumed professional source
One thing I would add is that not all professional bodies agree on everything and their advise may change as the pool of data increases and improves

Rubbish... There's a reason every medical personnel dealing with actual or suspected CV is going to be wearing an N95 mask and various other PPE, because they ARE effective.... IF the person wearing the mask handles it properly and in accord with hygiene protocols.
The medical establishment seems to believe that hospital staff can be taught how to properly wear and handle the masks, but somehow the public is too ignorant to learn and follow those same techniques.
But more to the point, there's a tremendous worldwide supply shortage right now for N95 and other masks precisely because so many are needed for medical workers. So if the medical establishment started recommending the public wear them as well, that would only exacerbate the already severe shortages of masks that hospitals and others are experiencing.
The WHO and the U.S. government are going to be buying many hundreds of millions of N95 masks now and in the weeks/months ahead to provide to medical workers, precisely because they DO work if handled properly. Thus in this case, I'm paying more attention to what they are doing vs what they are saying in regards to the general public.
good post but I don't think we are talking about N95 masks here - I would agree they are effective if used properly

I am of the view that Thailand has no idea of the numbers of infected, dead and recovered.
or they don't want to know, what they don't know they don't have to tell
Pity Thai people in general do what they are told when it comes to social media especially when threatened with arrest and jail

According to a straw poll of 3,000 foreigners carried out by Thaivisa, the overwhelming majority said they had not been wearing a facemask while in Thailand during the coronavirus outbreak.
First - the cheap face masks offer little to zero protection against convid 19 infection
Second - since there have been less than 50 cases in Thailand and only 13 remaining that being treated - where is the threat, according the Health Minister the are no other cases and there has been little to no information to say otherwise
This is why it is so important to keep people truthfully informed about what is going on and where

Some European news quote Telegraph quoting a scientist in China that there are now type L and type S of COVID19 and that recovering from one doesn't make you immune to other. The new type is a lot more aggressive than the older strain.
in other words it has mutated and got stronger

It’s too <deleted> late....it’s here in Thailand big time I think
and the latest - human to animal
Hong Kong authorities have warned people to avoid kissing their pets, but also to not panic and abandon them after a dog repeatedly tested “weak positive” for coronavirus.
The Hong Kong Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department said experts unanimously agreed the results suggested the dog had “a low-level of infection and it is likely to be a case of human-to-animal transmission”.
The Pomeranian’s owner was infected with Covid-19 but the dog itself was not showing symptoms, authorities said.

every time you hear an announcement from someone claiming to be an official the message and instructions are completely different, this happens on a regular basis in Thailand - the smaller ranks trying to make an impression of authority
The trouble with a single lie is that you then have to tell more lies to maintain the lie - the lie snowball effect, a little tiny one becomes huge if it has a clear run

I was wondering when India was going to hit the world virus news
I wonder how many infected were returning from other Asian countries like Thailand for example
This is not good news no matter how you look at it

is viral pneumonia the untested sick population with covid - 19 ?, IMO it makes a lot more sense, Thailand doesn't have the resource to test and treat this amount of people so they just don't bother - send them to the villages were they can do least harm and tell them to self isolate - I can understand why they would do this but it is still wrong, it means people cannot make an informed choice as to what they should be doing to protect themselves - as it is everyone thinks Thailand only has 53 cases and none where I live - that could be completely wrong and could be putting me and others in danger

If each of them arrived by air and terminated in Thailand what if anything will be done to contact probably hundreds of other visitors who might have the virus? nothing I guess
they report the Italian being detected in Chonburi which likely means Pattaya, so this person had already left the airport and travelled to his destination and perhaps even reported himself to hospital after feeling ill - who was he in contact with ?

I have no doubt now that Thailand is only reporting traceable cases linked with foreigners who entered the country, local transmission is not though I have no doubt they are doing the tracing and 'quarantining' while 'under investigation' but not adding it to the confirmed cases. The government would see no benefit in being completely transparent and only serves to damage the tourism business etc.
been saying the same thing for weeks - 100% agree
what they don't test they don't need to report - they just send sick people home - I suspect thousands - hospitals couldn't cope with the vast numbers anyway so what's the point in testing them - they have all likely been told not to post on social media

I've been waiting for some announcement like this - it's the front end of a gigantic face-saving exercise.
The current administration are totally out of their depth and have been looking for a way to explain the humiliating mass-infection that they daren't declare or even admit to. With everything "100% under control" ???? they can now blame it on the South Koreans.
agree
British man is Thailand’s 48th confirmed virus victim

confirmed infections (or what they will admit too) are still only 45 over an 8 week period, that is what they are telling people and I for one don't believe them
it is better to tell people exactly what is going on so we can all take measures to protect ourselves - as of right now Pattaya has no reported infections yet they are disinfecting major tourist areas like walking street and soi 6 ………….why ?
