  1. Go over any bridge in Bangkok clearly labelled no motorbikes and you will see hundreds going down the middle between lanes of cars.

On the rare occasion the police set up a check point mid bridge, they bikes simply turn around and leave, only to return later in the day, next day etc.

Solution: Block them from taking the bridges : permanent placed at the bridge entrance but that would be too much work or even better just haul them all off and impound them for 10,000 baht.

Or even better...allow them to use the bridges, perhaps even provide a motorcycle lane for them.

The only reason they're banned is so the BiB can collect some tea money.

  2. You actually think you have a right (or indeed a right to worry) about where a Thai person is? Your obviously just off some banana boat. Thais wander around like lost soles at the best of times and wouldn't think for 1 single second to tell somebody where they where curfew or no curfew. Thai are just not built like us mate. She''ll turn up, probably not alone ha ha ha!!

Wow! So you know my rights?

You make me feel so stupid for caring and asking a civil question.

You're so right, my banana boat berthed here 12 years ago.

BTW, I've seen quite a lot of those 'lost soles' around Bangkok in my time. They just don't make shoes like they used to, do they?

    Thanks for your input.

  3. General question to the membership.

Does anyone have any first hand knowledge of anyone caught breaking the curfew?

My sister-in-law phone around 11-12 last night to say she had just got a taxi to take her home and hasn't been heard of since.

I haven't read or heard anything about breaking the curfew and any penalties.

Anyone have any facts on the matter?

    thx

  4. Today they added Thaksin's son to list of those detained. Looks like the general has almost all the trump cards in his hand.

    Don't think so

Where is the jack of diamond's

    Jack of diamonds?

    Let's see...

    Queen of diamonds? Check. Detained

    The Joker(Chalerm) Check. Detained

    Deuce of spades(Jatuporn) Check detained

So I guess the jack of diamonds He's holed up in London

Unless I missed Chalerm and Jatuporn being re-detain then I believe they are still free.

perhaps I missed those announcements. I haven't seen anywhere that the leadership of the UDD have been released.

Perhaps they just dropped Chalerm at a bar with instructions to 'just keep pouring and we'll pick up the tab'.

  5. Here we go again, according to script... judicial coup justified if not by the rice scheme / NACC probe, then by the Thawil case decision. Found guilty, then forced to resign or impeached, enforced by the military and somehow, anyhow, a new government, a yellow government, put in place - for the 'reform' so loudly called for from Suthep's stages.

The acts of this play were written in the drawing rooms of big BKK houses and penthouses months ago, right down to the Songkran kickoff dates. The current constitution was a dramatic reduction in representational rights, the next will be more so - more appointments by 'respected individuals', less voter voice. Less upcountry, more Bangkok. And then the reds will come to town. This will continue and continue - until some balance is found. What will bring about that balance? Hard to say, we are dealing with centuries of a feudal society, elites running things the way they want, poor folks, serfs, doing their bidding - all being threatened by modernity, and concepts of equality of rights and voice. This is to some degree a zero sum game, one side wins while another loses - although continued conflict will mean less of an economic sum, a smaller pie to divvy up.

Elvis. Everyone has set that date as the real time for change.

  6. Sadly, barely newsworthy these days as it happens so frequently. Just more to add to the overwhelming evidence that PDRC employs the scum of the earth as guards. We all know that.

Of course, as you well know, the Red shirts have been attacking opposition members for years.

One anti-govt person was tortured and beaten to death and of course there was the assassination of Suthin.

Seems the overwhelming evidence has nothing to do with one side employing 'the scum of the earth'.

Scum for hire is part and parcel of politics in Thailand.
