  1. Imagine a group of 10 vicious school boys all age 14, gang rape the pretty canteen girl behind the school shed. The unfortunate girl happens to be 21.

The poor pregnant girl reported to the police. Instead of arresting the boys, she was sentence to 10 counts of molesting a minor; because the vicious boys’ sexual experiences in adolescence can prove to be very traumatic in their adulthood.

Technically this is possible isn’t it? lol

  2. Ousted Thai PM Thaksin's HK speech delayed

Despite the spat, it was hoped Thaksin would still appear by video-link, but FCC President Ernst Herb said Sunday the speech would be delayed until the club had installed the necessary technology.

"This delay is completely for technical reasons. We are not caving in to some outside pressure," Herb told AFP.

Didn't he once own the biggest comunication company in Thailand (if not SE Asia)?

Didn't he once own 4 sattelites with his name on it?

And cannot even get a video-link to work in time. lol

  3. Getting into Thailand is easy enough for a Saudi, but does anyone know the status of, and/or workarounds for, the potential repercussions from the Saudi side?

Saudis Prohibited from Travel to Thailand

Post to AmericanBedu blog dated September 23, 2008

"I recently learned of a few instances where Saudis did travel into or through Thailand and in turn, were punished by the Saudi government for disobeying the ban. In one case a Saudi was returning to the Kingdom from Asia and had a 7 hour transit layover in Bangkok. Rather than remain at the airport, he decided to go out and take a quick tour of Thailand. In another case, a Saudi chose to go to Thailand with his wife for a holiday. In both of these cases when it came time for the Saudis to renew their Saudi passports, they ran into problems due to the Thai stamps in their passports. The Passport office reported these Saudis to concerned agencies and also refused to renew their passports for a three month period as "punishment" for violating the rules. This is what is done with "first offenders." Further disregard could result in revocation of a passport."

    You must be kidding right.

  4. I must have live in South East Asia for too long to love low cost carriers like AirAsia & Tiger & JetStar.

It would be really nice for them to fly to/from U-Tapow, saving a lot of tourist on a "Beach Run" to have to use Swampy.

Initial route to Phuket, Bali, Lankawi, Krabi, Samui from Pattaya will be great.

And perhaps adds Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hong Kong, Chiangmai later.

    What do you think?

PS. Please do not turn this into a low cost carriers bashing discussion. There are various discussion in this form on going already.

  5. http://www2.airportthai.co.th/airportnew/s...ark.asp?lang=en

Sorry it is in Thai. Here is a translation.

Airport parking 250/day (>6hr is considered 1 day). They are never full if you avoid level 5 (which has a connecting bridge).

From this website, Long term parking rate car=140, bike=70, bus=210 per day (>6hr is considered 1 day).

Long term parking is opposite the bus terminal / PTT gas station, just follow the sign. It is not sheltered. There is a free shuttle bus to the terminal.

The Long term parking is huge and well lit. However, I have never seen more than 10 cars there at any one time.

The website also mention something about a monthly pass (Long term parking only). It says 600/month for car plus 600 bath deposit. So I suppose if you park for more than 9 days, it is worth a monthly pass & deposit. Does anyone have any experience on the monthly pass? Please share.

  6. Today until 30-Apr-2009. Dine 300 Baht at the airport, and get a SIM card FREE.

You should see a yellow sign on this offers infront of most (if not all) air-side resturant advertising this.

    http://www.truecorp.co.th/eng/promotion/pr...e_kingpower.jsp

This Inter SIM package is only worth 49 Baht if bought outside, so don't kill yourself if you miss this.

It comes with an instruction to make VOIP call for as low as 1 Baht/min to a few countries like USA.

    See here for more details.

  7. So

This have nothing to do with Thailand, Thai Airlines, or Thai Airport.

Unfortunately it happens in Bangkok, that all.

I guess he did not tell JetStar when he does the booking (intentionally or otherwise), which may have cost him more for the extra service.

JetStar was not prepared with the right personnel, equipment, seating arrangement.

So Bangkok is not in Thailand. Sorry I will have to check my atlas I thought it wass.

And as this was a return journey it is obvious they were informed.

Thai Airport allows him to use the facilities (700 Baht included in ticket), doesn't matter if he has legs or not. Thai imigration happily process his exit stamp, doesn't matter if he has legs or not. BUT JetStar, an Australian Airline refuse him to board because he cannot walk. All I am saying is that JetStar crew/management could have refuse him in SIN, KUL, HKG, DPS, etc, but it just happens to happen in BKK.

Please blame the Aussie, not Thai.

  8. Remins me of a blind man who went to the cinema. After the movie, he complained for a refund because he was upset that he did not manged to see a thing even though he had paid for it. I suppose it is the cinema's fault for not supplying him with the right equipment for him to be able to watch the movie.

I guess Cheap Charlie did not tell JetStar of his condition, fearing that he might have to fly Qantas instead. I do not evident that the lie about his condition, but I guess he has intentionaly left that bit out.

  9. Glen McDonnell was humiliated by JetStar.

    JetStar is an AUSTRALIAN airlines.

JetStar refuse Glen (not Thai Airport).

This is an Australian domestic matter.

  10. AirAsia is a low cost airline. You should fly full service airline to get full service.

Imagine walking into a Mac restaurant sit down and expect to be served, BECAUSE other restaurant have waiters to serves their guest at the table. Or try to take a public bus in Thailand and expect the bus to knee down + special assistance + a place to store the wheel chair, BECAUSE buses in London (and in many other European & US city) does that.

AirAsia and most low cost airlines in this part of the world cut as many service as possible to reduce cost. It may hurt 1%, but it benefit 99% of the passengers. To lower cost, turn around for AA flight is typically 30 mins compared to 2 hours for TG flight. They cannot affort to handle people with special need, without increasing cost to their operation, or managed 30mins turn around schedule. If they can legally refuse to take handicap people and children, they probably would.

In KL airport, all passenger have to walk the the aircraft, rain or shine. Some time you have to walk up to a mile because the bigger A330 (AirAsiaX) is too large to park close to the sheltered walk way. No one complain as that is what they paid for. Don't like it, fly full service airlines.

  11. Will the billions in loan forgiveness being earmarked for farmers help them forget about the 2,000 baht?

    What are you talking about?

The only loans I hear about here are loan sharks squeezing people to death.

I see one everyday on his motorbike collecting his due at some noodle shop.

My GF and sisters worked many years (at least 15 years of her life) to pay off the fathers debt for owning the rice land, then to pay for the house, then the water pump, then for the son's motorbike.

Two years ago we lend the family 30K and an other sister also 30K to finance the Kubota. They repaid 10k last year and we let it go.

Don't know of any one here loaning from the government and thus no forgiveness around!

Government to help pay farmers' debts

The cabinet on Tuesday approved a 5.7-billion-baht budget to pay off farmers' debts and rehabilitate debtors, according to Farmer Rehabilitation Development Fund acting Secretary-General Sangsit Piriyarangsan.

He said 1.573 billion baht out of the total budget will be set aside to pay off farmers' debts while 4.149 billion baht will be used to rehabilitate 69,155 farmers.

A number of farmers owe the Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) 124 million baht, while another 831 million baht are non-performing loans. A group of farmers also have 616 million baht in debt with commercial banks and juristic persons.

Does the tax payers have a say in these kind of things? The govt have been giving freebies to buy vote, and the tax payers are funding it.

  12. Scott, legal tax avoidance is legal. Evasion is differently defined as illegal. I spent a career chasing illegal deductions and unreported income. Thaksin's thugs (I call them that now since I live in his land of thugs, Chiang Mai) made it legal to steal all of Thailand.

So Thaksin has already legalised it. Why should he still need to pay tax?

  13. Good news, it should never have happened to him.

    A poor political pawn.

At least he WILL get a good book deal

and a better career as a writer to make to for this.

But I bet he'd prefered the time spent outside.

Come on, where else can you experience the pleasure of falling into a real sewerage pit? Or was he pushed by a Thai inmate who didn't like his book?

He could be the new presenter of Discovery Channel "Dirty Jobs"

  14. Hoping to get a Press Pass for this speech.

If I do get one, I'll post the key points here - don't think I can start a new topic, but i'll put it somewhere

Given my office is closer to FCC than AP, Reuters etc, Thaivisa might have itself a true wire-beating scoop ! Always nice to beat the wire services. I'll do my best.

    Good Luck to you.

Didnt realise Farmers Weekly got an allocation of press passes? :o

You can buy a press pass on the street in KaoSan Road. Also student card, teacher card, driving license, a degree, PhD, etc, all for just a few Baht.

  15. whether it's 2006, 2007, 2008, or 2009... their violent ways always seems to come to the forefront...

Soldier Attacked by Red-shirts Still in Coma

Police are now seeking CCTV footage from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the government in response to a report that a soldier was beaten by supporters of the red-shirt anti-government last night.

Sergeant Major Aumnuay Thongrin, of Infantry Battalion Region 11, was severely injured by 8 red-shirt protestors in front of the Region 1 Army Headquarters near the demonstration site last night.

The report says Sergeant Major Aumnuay and his companion encountered the red-shirt demonstrators during a routine patrol near the headquarters. The protestors chased the two military officers down and beat Seargeant Major Aumnuay. The other soldier escaped unharmed.

Sergeant Major Aumnuay was sent to Phramongkutklao Hospital and is now in a coma.

This morning, Deputy Metropolitan Police Chief Police Major General Aumnuay Nhimmano visited the victim at the hospital. He said police are now asking for CCTV footage from around the crime scene in an attempt to identify the offenders.

In response to the incident, Region 1 Army Commander, Lieutenant General Kanit Sapitak said the victim was sent to observe the demonstration, and was not there to secretly infiltrate the crowd as the red-shirt leaders have claimed.

The number of red-shirt protesters at Government House is thought to be far less than initially estimated. Less than 300 protesters remain at the rally site.
