I was just watching CNN (7:30 p.m.). The Thai PM was on and admitted that they had towed Rohingyas out to sea and set them adrift.
It's interesting that Angeline just touches on the topic and suddenly some movement by the gov't. Maybe just a coincidence, but I think not.
I don't think the attitude toward the Rohingyas is likely to change, but hopefully their treatment will improve.
Abhisit spoke to the Rohingya issue BEFORE Jolie spoke out.

Don't be fool by the Thais, especially those pee sitting down.
I kept telling myself that, but soon forgot once she poured me a cold one.

Jolie reminds me of Stone and her comment on Tibet.
What happen to Stone after that? I believe she suffer financal loss on advertising deals.

You should try Jackfruit.
Jackfruit ghost = a pun for slang word "transvestite" in Thai.

While a number of people have claimed their rights to criticize or blame anyone in Thailand, starting from the monarchy . . .
Watch your mouth. The LM police might be knocking at your door next.

why doesn't Jolie apologize to Jeniffer first, instead of interfering with Thailand's sovereignty?
if anybody in any way wants to help these Burmese people; get an army together, invade Burma and kill the generals, that's the only way to really solve anything ... of course whining to Thailand that they should help those few refugees is more PC ... makes her look good, but doesn't solve anything
dam_n, I wish my country would drag all those low life immigrants out of my country!!
Are you sure your name is not Bush?
-
Agreed, this is all very embarrassing for Thailand, but comments like these are deplorable and reminiscent of "The U.N. is not my father".
One would hope for educated Thais to be more-aware of international expectations, on both the proper treatment of refugees, and on freedom-of-expression.
Can mark charge Jolie for LM?

Tiger Airways will randomly assigned seat during check in for those who did not pay for seat selection.
I think this is what AirAsia will do.
-
Tiger Air at Singapore Budget weigh hand carry almost all the time.
In other locations, it will be quite unusual to have your hand carry weigh. Some people even carry 2 bags (and they both looks heavy, but not too bulky) aboard AirAsia.
If you have hand carry to hide, try not to show them during check-in.

Suthep accuses Thaksin of prison fear
Deputy Prime Minister overseeing national security Suthep Thaugsuban on Tuesday took another swipe at fugitive ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra, claiming he was not concerned about loose security but he could be afraid of going to jail following his return to Thailand. Mr Suthep said the government is ready to guarantee the former PM's safety, if he decides to return. However, he questioned his concern due to his fugitive status. The deputy premier, referring to bill intended to grant amnesty to banned politicians, said the government will not help any particular

Thaksin's foremost concern is not safety but jail term: Suthep
The foremost concern of ex-premier Thaksin Shinawatra is not safety but how to evade his two-year jail term if he decides to end his exile and return home, Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thuagsuban said on Tuesday.
"I can not verify whether Thaksin is coming back home although the government is ready to ensure his safety," Suthep said.
He was reacting to comments by a number of opposition lawmakers that Thaksin might return to Thailand soon.
He said he would guarantee to personally supervise and ensure Thaksin's safety.

Suthep does rather state the obvious. I think he is enjoying goading Thaksin.
Suthep usually gets the facts wrong. Did he said that Thaksin would like to return to Thailand as "President"?

In fact when things become unacceptable, arguments and shouting can very often win arguments.
You can't complaing about lack of discussion when the only thing you do is shout.
There will be no shouting about monarchy here. Period.
Giles most probably left the country because he knew in advance what the verdict would be.Perhaps. Perhaps Giles was afraid he'd be acquitted and so all his house of cards about LM stiffling discussion would fall flat on its face.
We can speculate on Giles reasons to run, but he should have publicly defended what he said in the book, which wasn't much to begin with. Fleeing is a very cowardly behavior for self professed freedom fighter.
Nelson Mandela he is not.
He may not be a Nelson Mandela. But Thaksin, Giles and Giles' father is like is like a Dalai Lama; to have to flee their country.

Remember the famous quote:
In his speech His Majesty refuted the long-accepted tradition of constitutional monarchy that the King can do no wrong.
He said: "If the King can do no wrong, it is akin to looking down upon him because the King is not being treated as a human being. But the King can do wrong."

http://www.airasiaplus.com can help you to search for cheap flight fast.
There are 3 things that AirAsia will SLIP into your booking UNLESS you manually remove it.
1. Baggages (no charge for 1 piece hand carry 7kg max, however I never see them weigh mine)
2. Seat selection (no charge if you don't select seat, which mean you will get a middle seat)
3. Insurance (I don't think it covers cancellation on your own free will; does anyone know?).
October is so far away. Also there are lots of seats, not not around the popular dates (X-mas New Year).

I visit Cambodia a lot and I am always impressed
how both the Thai and Khmer immigration manage to squeeze 8 stamps per side in my passport.
One stamp for an entrance and one stamp for an exit and all neatly paired off.
That is apart from the whole side Khmer and Thai stickers for a one year visa.
I am interested to know whether it will still be possible to fit 8 stamps per side in my passport.
My passport is getting full and I don't want the trouble of applying for a new one.
Anybody know how big these new mini stickers will be?
8 rubber stamps per page is quite normal. I now use a light pencil to divide my passport page into 10 boxes, and sometime I managed to get rubber 10 stamps in a page. However, some officers (not many) just don't care, and stamp where ever they like.
As I went through Thai airport today, I ask when the sticker will be used. She said soon, but not sure when. She also said it will take up quite a bit of space on my passport. On all the immigration counter (beside the web cam), you will see a white box the size of a play station. I believe that the printer to print the stickers.

As I am walking home in Soi A, I realise that someone left a newly born Muslim baby (the way it was dressed) in the trash bin in front of my house. I look around, no one is around. So I quickly and quitely carry the baby across to next Soi B, and left it in the trash bin of the Muslin house there. Not because I hated the baby, but it would be better for it to be with people of the same faith. I quickkly disappears and I am very happy that no one saw in doing that. And I am very glad that I don't have to take any responsibility.
The next day, it was reported that a baby was found in the trash bin of Soi Z, infront of a Hindo home. The poor baby must have been toss around quite a bit in the night. I just pretended I have just knew about it.
Of cause this is not a true story. But similar thing is happening with these Burmese.

No not cheap - daft but not cheap
Listen to the following song by the Offspring :"Why Don't You Get a Job?"
PMSL........... thanks for that
My friend's got a girlfriend Man he hates that bitch He tells me every day He says "man I really gotta lose my chick In the worst kind of way"
She sits on her ass He works his hands to the bone To give her money every payday But she wants more dinero just to stay at home Well my friend You gotta say:
I won't pay, I won't pay ya, no way (now now) Why don't you get a job
Why don't you get a job?
But the only job she will do is pleasure other men which you may not want.
So, it is better to pay her to sit on her ass, or better, Sick on my Duck.

The RED has vowed not to let this law pass. They claim that this law would allow the PAD leaders to pay a fine of up to 10,000 Baht each (which is peanut), and case closed.
They seem to have forgotten that they are no longer in charge.
Just because they never passed any laws then doesn't mean that the government can't now.
Of course the Reds and several here are ASSUMING that this law could or would be retro active.
Laws are made for the future, usually in reaction to something in the recent past, relative to passing the law.
Very, VERY few laws EVER are applicable and legally used retroactively.
It takes a pretty rare and devastating occurrence for that to happen.
The cows are out of the barn; but you can't now make a new rule and jail the farm hand.
But you can make a new rule letting the farm hand, and any to follow,
know they are toast if they do it again.
It is called learning from the mistakes of others,
and making sure it doesn't happen again.
Please correct me if I am wrong.
1. PAD walks free as there is no law against protest at airport.
2. If someone wants to repeat in future, each member better be equiped with 500 to 10,000 Baht fine (if caught).

Why not just set up another Nana or Cowboy in the Airside area. Transit passengers will shoot up immediately.

I don't think the international laws has a special provision for dragging people back out to sea.
Nor is any international law AGAINST such practise (dragging people back out to sea).
Remember the Vietnam Boat People 20 years ago. I believe many countries around Vietnam (Thailand included) refuse them to land, and leave them to die in international waters.

Yep, I was on a 747/400 that didn't have a refit, no screens in the seat backs, no PC plugs, and hardly any choice of movies, 15 crap channels, that was it !!!!, No games, nothing......in fact I just used my iPod the whole trip, very dissapointing especially as I was using Singapore Airlines and Cathay Pacific Business class before, but Singapore Airlines were full on the date I wanted so Thai it was.
Singapore Airlines will be seeing me again for sure.
Thai business class? No way, unless the planes get modernized, the Fast Track was useful, and not queing up with the peasants in economy is good and I had a nice shower in the lounge but the plane was dissapointing, I'm sure it was the same one I used in 1990 when I first came to Thailand!
What route was that? The ones that fly from London are much more modern.
To be honest, the 747/400 they use on LHR-BKK (TG916/TG917) route is a relativey 'old' plane and is pretty rubbish compared to other airlines, but most of the time (5 times this year), I get a row of 3 seats in Economy, which is better than being crammed onto EVA Air....albeit with better entertainment.
The strange thing is that Thai Airways use a almost new Airbus A340 from BKK-CNX, which I always do Business (nice after a long trip to use lounge etc) has massaging fully flat seats (albeit at a slight angle) and is really comfortable.....but.....
I have a question for Thai Airways......why use a crappy old 747 for the long haul to London and a spanking new all-singing and dancing A340 for a 1hr hop from BKK-CNX???
Guessing this will probably change under the new administration
LHR flight is always full due to limited slot for TG (or any other airlines). Hence TG only use metal tube with the maximum capacity, regardless of any other considerations. 747 have a higher capacity than A340.
