I would hope so ... ventilation is a pretty serious and potentially damaging invasion of the body, and usually needs extended care after removal - sometimes for months.
I read somewhere (I know, I know ... but it was a serious journal) that a need for ventilation under any circumstances leaves a person vulnerable to early death for the following 5 years.
Just found a study saying 21 day ventilation - mortality rate 52% in the following year.
Yes, I read something similar recently.
Anyway, the doctors confirmed yesterday that when he dies (and sadly it will be very soon), the death will NOT be recorded as Covid related. "He has been cured of Covid".

So was this classified as a covid related death? It should be. If in the UK it would have been.
I was thinking the same.
I know a man , who sadly is about to die, who had Covid, was put on a ventilator for over a month. Eventually he was tested negative, moved out of ICU, but developed inflammation of the lungs.
We were discussing yesterday whether this will be registered as Covid related or not. My Thai friend thinks it will.

I can't see how they fall for these beautiful foreign women. It is so obviously a scam.
I am lucky. I had 2 or 3 nice sweet religious ladies from Nigeria send emails to me. They are always polite and pray for my health every day. I seem to have had 2 or 3 find my email address somehow. They are probably looking for a nice religious, kind, handsome man like me.

How exactly do you see all this? Are you following the gang and investigating their business dealings? I'm pretty sure your imagination has gone wild.
Sorry this is a double posting. Thai Visa has crashed three times while trying to answer this.
We don't have to follow them.
We live on what used to be a quite soi (5 houses around here + 2 bought by the Chinese) We saw when they came to buy. Always turned up in 2 or 3 Alphards with the same number plate endings. Then huge renovations with them coming to check up often. They would block the exit from our house and block the soi for those living further down.
The parties are always held for Chinese people. The girls are delivered in the same cars with the same number plate endings as the Alphards. The brand name shopping bags are piled high outside the house to be collected by the rubbish collectors. All the neighbours talked about his and how much money they must have.
One day they put a company sign up so everyone was interested in what the company was about, so of course we Googled them. They rented out the houses at 60K per night, but they are impossible to book as they are "fully booked" for the next 2 years. There were fake comments from Western guests about how they enjoyed their stay. No one has ever seen Western guests stay there.
One night when they were noisy, one of the Thai neighbours said he would call the police and within 2 minutes all the guest had gone and lights were off.
As for gambling. Often the soi is blocked by 10 -20 super cars from about 5 pm. Always Chinese men arriving and occasionally 2 or 3 girls would arrive together in another car. We can all see this as it is the same time most of us arrive home from work and have to wait while they park .
One of the neighbours has talked to the police and another one has talked to immigration, but none of them seem to be able to do anything without signed statements from us. Of course we are not going up against these people.
So, no our imaginations have not run wild.
Just to add to that, we know of other houses on sois near here that are in the same situation.
Finally, a lawyer friend, said that Chinese people own 40 - 50% of property in parts of Pattaya.

haha no my imagination hasn't gone wild.
Everyone in my area has noticed it. It is so obvious.
All our neighbours talk about it . This
iswas a quiet soi until they came along. Now they have wild parties only with Chinese guests, often with many supercars (incl Rolls Royce and most number plates ending in the same digits.) blocking the road, they throw many many Gucci, Prada and other brand name bags outside the houses to be collected by the rubbish collectors. We once mentioned that we would call the police to some of the partygoers and within 2 minutes, both houses were empty and lights turned off.Oh, we did investigate a little after they set a sign up with the company name. They advertise the houses at VIP accommodation at 60K each per night. The whole website is fake with comments from westerners who supposedly stayed there (never ever seen Western people there). We tried for fun to book, but no matter how far in advance we tried we got a message that they were fully booked.
These houses ae on both sides of our house so it is easy to see what going on. In fact both immigration and the police know about the houses but need more evidence or signed statements from us about what's happening, but who wants to go up against Chinese mafia.

They are doing already.
I see the same Chinese gang (about 5 or 6 men) buying up houses and other property near here. They also own massage places (prostitutes), restaurants and transport companies. They then operate the whole lot together as a business. Rent out the houses to rich Chinese tourists for a month. The tourist buys girls, who in turn buy brand name handbags, perfume and jewellery, all food for the big parties they have is delivered from the same Chinese restaurant, all the Chinese
gamblersguests that come drive Rolls Royces, Porches, Mercedes, BMWs and so on. It's one big operation where the money stays in Chinese hands.- 3

So now 21 days of overstay is an arrestable offence for which you will be blacklisted according to this report. Has the rules changed since this ?
Actually the rules say :
"Note that if an immigration officer catches a person who has overstayed his visa in Thailand, he or she might be taken to jail or nearest immigration office for further investigation."
So these were caught by an immigration officer and arrested. I have often seen prople asking about overstay fines on this forum and most replies go in the line of "Just don't get stopped by the police."

Just Bull+++t really as most Thai's don't have a pot to p++s in and will do push up's; only Farang will suffer with heavy cash fines to boost the Cops Tea Money !
Actually I notice many of the rich (Porche, mercedes owners) never wear masks neither in the car or when they get out.

an enforcer would have made a small fortune on my soi this morning.
I counted 12 people without masks in the space of 5 minutes.
12,000 baht for 5 minutes work
Not bad money at all for a local.
You must live on the same soi as I do haha
There is a little community half way down the soi where the residents NEVER wear masks. I used to buy food from them (and beers 24 hours) just to support them, but I have stopped 100% now. That place could easily end up being a new cluster.

It all depends on the size, materials used, is it remotely controlled and so on.
Why not ask for some offers? That's much better than asking here.
Our gate is quite long and cost nearly 3 times of what "timendress" said.

This thread started 14 hours ago,
No more from the OP. I guess he made up his mind.
The story sounds like my friend's girlfriend. They split up 14 years ago, but she contacts him every so often when she needs money for hospital treatment. She claims she has HIV. They talk for a few days and he ends up sending her money because "he feels sorry for her". Then he doesn't hear anything for a year or so. This time her father has crashed the car and they have no transport. He actually refused to help that time.
Surely a break up is a break up. End of relationship.

Funny, because I dont know a single farang who has.
Teachers at several schools have been vacinated.

Happy to report just back from a 10 am mor prom appointment, all dosed up with AZ vaccine. A really professional operation, original booking made on line app with pink ID,
From arrival in the carpark to getting the jab took 20 mins, pink card etc processed just the same as Thais.
Good job.
I will be going on Wednesday at 12.30 at my university. I think we are only about 15 people, so it shouldn't take long.
So, they are using AZ. I hope that's what we are given as some of us are in the over 60s group.

The nurses told me to take it off so they could have their photos taken with me.
The truth is I couldn't roll my shirt sleeve up high enough for the shot and they asked me to take off my shirt so they could jab me.
Lucky you. Was this in Bangkok?
Do all people have their photo's taken? I can imagine the hospitals need evidence.

it's bound to end in disaster.
Farangs will be lucky if we get our vaccines before 2025!
It seems they are starting to vaccinate foreigners already. I know of a few that have had theirs. (I know a couple that have had J&J through their embassy)
I received an email last night asking me to go to the office on Wednesday for a vaccination. That came completely out of the blue. No idea what vaccine they will offer.

200 baht for one report. Yes, the passport came back with next 90 day due date.
Honestly for the convenience the 200 baht was well worth it.
200 Baht is cheap. In Bangkok it is anything between 1000 and 1500 baht. I paid last time because the online didn't work.
Now I have given up and returned to sending by post.

So you're able to establish the size (and the depth maybe?) of the pool from a photo showing one small section. How astute of you.
I don't know this particular hotel, but most hotels don't have a deep pool. I say "most", because yes, I have seen very deep pools (3 mtres) that they use for diving lessons.

15 minutes ago, Macrohistory said:Let's face it, 2,500 cases a day means that the virus is effectively circulating out of control. There is no way the public health people can contact-trace for 2,500 cases a day. So-called "clusters" pop up where testing happens to be going on, but in reality the virus is all over the place, or soon will be -- at least in Bangkok. It may not be all over the place in high concentrations, though, so infection is still avoidable for any given individual. The only thing to do now is socially isolate as much as possible and wait for a vaccine.
If the virus was out of control the numbers wouldn't be fluctuating at around 2500 per day. They would be increasing exponentially.
I no longer believe in those figures.
I have a friend who tested positive a month ago. He was sent home and told to stay home for 8 day. Is he part of the statistics?
Another friend has just been diagnosed with pneumonia. No need to test for Covid. Sent home in isolation for 8 days.

No surprise there.
Quote"It is a new plant they are running ... that is how it is when you start a new plant," he said.
Exactly what many TV posters said.
In another report Anutin said that the vaccine rollout will start on the 7th as planned. I guess that will be the Sinovac vaccine. People wanting AstraZeneca will probably have to wait.

There's always a catch.
So when can we expect the document?
"About six million doses of the vaccine are expected to be delivered this month."
This is great news.
If it's anything like the government offices I have dealt with - anything from 3 weeks to 6 months.
The papers have to be signed by 3 or 4 different people and the one who has to sign is always "not in the office", "travelling on business".
