The possibilities of the vaccinated people still being infected but not severely could be a reason.  We never seem to hear the stories of vaccinated people being infected however.  My view on that is they do not want people to abstain form getting vaccinated even though the chance of being infected is there.  Yesterdays Post of the Infectious disease doctor who had been vaccinated is surely making the rounds.

I know of 4 vaccinated people being infected. 3 have recovered after suffering mild symptoms. The fourth was placed on a ventilator last night.

I wonder if there are any statistics here showing how many vaccinated people are affected.

Whenever I have any vaccinations I always go alone. Indeed I doubt the nurse would let a crowd gather round while she does it. It's just a jab in the arm.

This one has a doctor, a nurse, a government minister and two others for support. Shouldn't they all be at work somewhere? Talk about overkill.

There are so many selfies of people getting the shot on social media. Maybe that's why the vaccine roll out is so slow.

    What's all the fuss about?

Like you I always go alone and get it over and done with.

If I get the chance for a Covid vaccination (let's hope I do), I will go alone and I certainly won't take a photo.

It will likely bounce back somewhat. There's millions of men around the world who haven't had a <deleted> for over a year. Many will hurry back to Pattaya once they can.

It amazes me why they pay 50K for the flight, 20K or whatever for the hotel to get a cheap night out with a bar girl, and from what I have read recently - they are no cheaper than in other countries.

There are plenty of other places nearer home.

  4. According to a recent study conducted by myself, vaccinations are 60% effective.

    The results are:

    9 people vaccinated (AZ)

    3 people infected ( 2 mildly, 1 serious)

2 People suffered mild side effects (headache, sore arm)

The research from Chula seriously lacks data to be of any credibility. The results they show are the same as reports from other countries.

Actually, these are people I know, but it certainly doesn't put me off getting vaccinated.

Even if private hospitals are essentially regulated by government in terms of what they charge for the vaccine, they may well seek to monetize the opportunity in other ways, for example by requiring advance medical check ups for new patients.

I am sure I read something like that somewhere, but I can't find it now.

The article talked about a health check-up and being admitted for 24 hours to monitor side effects.

In  my  21 years experience here, private hospitals operate the same fees for foreigners and Thais. One must  not  forget  that  private hospitals are not  the exclusive domain  of 'farangs'. Most customers in  private hospitals have private insurance. Plenty of Thais have private insurance.

    Absolutely NOT true.

I was once quoted a price. I complained that I lived in Thailand and the price was reduced by 50%!

Restaurants in Khon Kaen are takeaway only now, but in the market they have food sellers and a seating are where people were sitting and eating as usual. I suppose that as the buy their food from a stall and then take it to the eating area, that is considered takeaway??

Two evenings ago I saw that the food sellers that set up in the street and put out tables and chairs for their customers are operating the same as usual. Is that considered takeaway?

    Pretty much the same here.

There is a small slum community nearby where there are vendors or "restaurants" on both sides of the road. People buy food at the vendors, beer and whisky at the nearby shop and sit at a big table next to the restaurant and by the side of the road eating and drinking in full view of all passers by. No one wears a mask. If just one person gets infected, it will spread like wildfire amongst that little community.

My girlfriend just called St. Louis hospital about this.  They said I have to own a condo to register for the free vaccine.  Did I miss something in the original article that said the foreigner has to own a condo?  The hospital said they have very few vaccines anyway.

Maybe they have very few vaccines right now, but the article says for vaccination in June and July. That's when the Thai production of the vaccine should start, so they can take registrations now according to the article.

I live in Thong lor too, cant say i see them drive faster then other motorcycles. I am sure they clog up some places but that is normal in Thailand.

Good that you did not get it, but i think the risk is really low as long as you just take the stuff and use the hand gel and a mask. I certainly think its far safer then picking up stuff yourself and standing in lines waiting for food. In a way these people are taking the risks. So a bit more gratitude towards them is not a bad thing.

I think i risk it more when i go to the makro on rama iv then getting stuff from a delivery driver.

Yes, I agree with you that the risk is low. We order all our food as delivery (or cook ourselves) and we use gel every time there is a dleivery.

We will definitely stay away from Makro, Big C and Lotus on Rama 4 for a while.

You mean they are acting like normal Thais. I don't think these guys are any worse then normal drivers. I seen them in my area Thong lor and my previous area. Nothaburi no problems at all. Maybe its different where you are from but here they certainly don't stick out.

Did you guys perhaps live somewhere secluded ?I can't imagine anyone in BKK thinking its a problem. Sure there are a food delivery bikes but there are motorcycle taxis and all other kinds of traffic. Did not become busier.

Maybe it stands more out in those previously desolated areas.

Well I live on a soi off Thong Lor and as soon as these guys enter the soi they give it all they can. Yes they drive incredibly fast and on both sides of the road. There are also areas along Ekamai where they park waiting to pick-up food, reducing the 4 lane road to 3 lanes.

Anyway. this thread is about the Covid situation so I will add this statement. Last week we were contacted by one of the delivery companies who told us that their driver had been tested positive. They said as long as he didn't come into the house (which he didn't) and that as long as we all wore masks everything should be ok. It was a bit of a shock phone call, but now 12 days have passed and everything seems to be ok.

We've already established they want a blender. Much better than a juicer anyway, take all the fibre out who thought that was a good idea

As I said. It depends on what you want.

I was well aware that you have established that he wants a blender. All I am saying is that there is a big difference in using a blender and a juicer,

Try it out on carrots and see which one gives a "smooth" juice.

Here you go, this is the one I bought under 300 baht, works perfectly and cleans easy. High rating. If it breaks buy another one, no drama.

    yes, that is a blender.

As someone else mentioned there is a difference between a juicer and a blender. Try putting celery in the above machine and you'll get all the fibres. Put an apple in and you get all the "meat" from the apple. Carrots and you'll get all the "flesh". A juicer separates all the juice from the solids.

For a smoothy, I guess a blender is ok.

  13. A good idea would be to study the different types of juicer first.

What will you be juicing? Fruit or vegetables or both?

We spent ages researching the market and finally chose OSCAR Model DA1200 Fruit and Vegetable Juice Extractor . It's expensive, but fits our requirements perfectly.

There are others that are much cheaper, but as I said do your research.

The government probably expect most genuine residents have learnt some thai and have got the pink ID card which has been offered to them . The advantage of the pink ID card has become more beneficial than just trying to get the cheap rate at the national park .

Just how do you get a pink card? No need to answer - I have read the requirements:

    your passport

    your work permit (if any)

your house registration (Ta bian ban)

    your marriage certificate (if any)

your 2 books for permanent residency (if you are permanent resident)

birth certificate of Thai children (if any)

Yet migrant workers (our friend's maid) just pay 10K baht and get it within 1 week.

Anyone know how we can do that?
