They already have Red to prevent Accidents.

They are called Traffic Lights, and when they turn Red you required by law to stop.

I have seen very little of this fact on display in LOS.

Red usually means they speed up .

So, how about changing traffic lights to black (off) and white and zebra crossing to red, orange and green. The drivers will be so confused they will stop just to see what the hell is going on.

Joke aside. It doesn't matter what colour they paint. Thai drivers have the "me first" attitude and that cannot be changed

He asked the Thai people for understanding in this regard and assured them that the rest will be used for their benefit.

    Ask for understanding?

That shouldn't be necessary. Hasn't the government said all the time that foreigners will be vaccinated, but every time someone tries to register they are rejected.

Actually. many of my Thai friends don't believe that we can't register.

Delta variant is dominant now. It spreads incredibly easily. While dining in masks are off. Outside of Phuket the percentage of the population that is fully vaccinated is teeny tiny. Restaurants need to be closed for indoor dining until Thailand gets its vaccination program together.

You can say that again. My wife's nephew has just tested positive after coming into contact with another person who tested positive. They hadn't seen each other for several months and had a 20 minute lunch in his office, even though office rules didn't allow people to dine together. That was enough to infect him..

    Great advice here.

Things like the tape (myself, I fold up a little bit of tissue as a pillow to protect the lense) is what I call hard solutions: the only way for someone to get around it is physical access.  When the doings get suspicious enough, I cut the electricity to the router.

It is interesting reading this thread, but basically I have always thought that people ere paranoid about covering their cams and microphones.

You say "when the doings get suspicious enough...". Can you enlighten me more? What sort of activities make you think that someone is accessing your cam?

I haven't observed anything suspicious and I don't have anything to hide, but I guess the thought of someone watching me is creepy.

"It was only 30 minutes. We were having a break and some snacks and a cup of coffee before going to welcome the foreign tourists at the airport"

I missed that in my earlier comments...   Nothing to see here.. just media hysteria and baiting news..

They were having snacks and coffee !!! - they were doing nothing wrong.

So anyone who gets stopped in Bangkok and about to fined for not wearing a mask can now say " Hey I have only been walking for less than 30 minutes" and not be fined?

They just added yet one more requirement, which is proof of pre-paid after-arrival PCR tests.

That is really going to inconvenience the one guy still signed up for the Sandbox. I hope he didn't pre-pay the charter charge on the Cessna 152 he's flying in on.

As for all the PCR tests....before travel, after arrival, during the stay, and after the 'lovely vacation'....anyone who does the Sandbox is going to be able to park a semi or a 1960's wide-track Pontiac up his nose.

Maybe it's not the last requirement. I think they'll wait until the Cessna is airborne and then come with some ridiculous requirement.

I had AZ on Thursday and did have a minor short-term effect - swimming head for a couple of minutes - so I believe it was real.

Are you sure that it wasn't because of the Tiger beer you drank ?

Yes, I am pretty sure it was real too. I am thankful that I didn't have any side effects. Let's see what happens on the second (and possibly third) jabs.

Don't be silly.  Shows how much you understand them and look down on them treating them as stupid. The rural folk in my area have more common sense then you would like to give them credit for.

I would say that he is correct to a certain point.

I personally know of someone who was ordered to self quarantine at home after a member of his family tested positive. He "popped into the office" for 30 minutes every day during that period. Also went shopping to pick up a few necessary items.

I am not looking down on anyone, but some people simply do not have the self discipline to stay at home. You can see this in other countries too. Even UK (my homeland) some government ministers can't resist popping out.

Dr. Somsak insists, however, that the department is not biased against migrant workers, saying hospitalization is available to every nationality but, currently, there are too many COVID-19 patients waiting in the queues.

    What next?

Lead them into a big building and gas them?  oops! I shouldn't give the authorities ideas.

It's disgusting the way Thailand treats foreigners. They say again and again that all foreigners can register for vaccination, but they can't.

All will be treated on an equal basis, but they are not.

Government promised payments for each Covid related death... So... draw your conclusions, no need for me to mention them...

    Is that correct?

Now I realise why someone I know passed away on Sunday after having Covid. He was eventually tested negative and moved to another ICU (after 6 or 7 weeks in Covid ICU) where he passed away after just 24 hours. Cause of death - inflammation of the lungs.

  11. I wear a mask 100% of the time. Having said that , a couple of weeks after the mandatory mask wearing rule was introduced, I drove to the local Big C, went in a restaurant to eat lunch. Of course I had to take the mask off to eat, so I put it in my pocket.

Finished eating and walked the 20 metres or so to Big C. I was stopped at the entrance as I had completely forgotten to put my mask on. No problem, I smiled and said sorry, but I also asked about all the staff I see who do not wear masks. The lady didn't believe me, so I decided to take a few photos. I found six staff members not wearing masks and showed the manager the photos.

I don't know what happened, but now 100% of the staff wear masks.

    Edit.

Incidentally, there have been several cases of Covid in that particular shopping centre with several of the shops and banks being closed because of this.

"Rules of the university" do not usurp Labour Law. Unless you know the Labour Law you will not know if you are entitled to severance or not. It's your job to find that information out. Noone on this board knows that information.

Of course. I have studied the labour law and if I were employed in a private university I would be entitled to severance pay.

The university cannot have "it's own rules". They have to abide by the labour law.

If you have a 2 year contract and are "planning ahead" and the university have already told you this is your last contract, it sounds like they are going down the right track.

How long do you have left on your contract? Was the announcement that this is your last one official?

    Yes, it's official.

I have about half the contract time left - 1 year.

Another teacher left last month for the same reason. He has been there 15 years and they told him straight out- no severance pay. It's the rules of the university
