  1. When I first read about these two guys my first reaction was that should be sentenced, serve their time and deported.

Recently, however, I read that the government is considering amnesty to the majority of people who were arrested for violating the emergency laws (but not those charged with terrorism) and these two are not terrorists according to the following

"Briton Jeff Savage, 48, and Australian Conor Purcell, 30, were earlier arrested for a gathering of more than five people with the Red Shirt protesters of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) and involving with unrest which occurred last month after the movement ended their month-long protest at Bangkok's Ratchaprasong intersection.

The two have been also accused of obstructing traffic and public daily life as well as breaching the security order."

Therefore I believe amnesty should also be considered in their cases.

So if I publically invited people in your city to come and loot and burn your buildings you would suggest amnesty for me also?

Certainly not. What I am saying is that why should the Thais be given amnesty and not the foreigners?

Personally I don't believe anyone should be given amnesty. It makes a completely mockery of the law.

  3. OK - I predict an earthquake for Tuesday in Asia.

If the earthquake happens does that make me right?

NO of course it doesn't - don't be so stupid.

There are millions of predictions everyday and just because some happen it doesn't make the predictor or the method of prediction right.

Yes, and there are many earth tremors every day. You are bound to be right about an earthquake in Asia on Tuesday.

I also predict that there will be a plane crash in S. America within the next 3 months. The plane will have red in it's flag.

Actually I saw a TV program about this that nearly all airlines have red in their logo and minor air incidents happen every 3 months or so in S. America.

Anyone can make these predictions and some will come true.

NO ONE can predict the exact time and whereabouts of earthquakes, accidents or whatever.

As someone posted earlier .. anyone who could predict this well would be a millionaire.

  4. I can confirm that OVERPLAY VPN works like a charm - just google it.

It cost around 320 baht ( USD 9.99 per month )

It will allow you to say for instance your location is in the uk, then proceed and watch ITV online ( only UK resident can do that if not using a VPN )

Same with danish tv for instance, just use the danish overplay server and you can watch all of DR.dk's channels.

Also, added benefit - unblocks whatever mict.th decides to block.

Today I watched the France - Uruguay game from ITV ( really good quality for a stream ) with english commentary.

I didnt watch it last night, as I was sleeping :-)

But at least using this - i was able to get the BBC five live commentary all of the first game yesterday.

All the match I should say, I wasnt cut off like other people was.

Simply said this software will allow you to choose where you want to be in the world, as if you are really there.

There is 1 free US server, so if you want to test this software as if you are in the US, its doable.

It says they have a free UK server too, but sadly no.

The free option for the US server may actually work with the ESPN stream mentioned elsewhere - I have not tested that.

I see a massive lawsuit vs FIFA for rights coming.

Simply said FIFA have closed off the BBC worlwide broadcasting of 2 people watching a football game.

    Even talksport didnt work.

So we are not allowed to listen to people talk about something they are watching ? That cant be entirely right.

Hi Peterdk (I like your nickname.... hope people don't get confused between you and me)

I just downloaded Overplay VPN but can't seem to get it to work yet. Still struggling.

  5. Yes, you have to send the ORIGINAL TM.47 with your signature and the previous ORIGINAL Notification slip (if have)! Keep a copy for yourself if you want.

Copies of PP and TM.6 are always required but will be returned to you with the notificationslip.

If there has been no change in the PP you can use the same copy set again for the next report. I do this for most of the year.

And yes the postage is now 10Baht.

    opalhort

Ok . Thanks for the information.

It's nice of them to send the copies of PP back. Yes they can be used next time.

I realise now that I should have sent the original TM47 but I think at the time I was afraid it would be lost in the post or something. Of course I should keep a copy for myself .... just in case.

  6. There is nothing on the back of my arrival/departure card to photocopy it is blank.

copy it anyway, mine is also blank.

I think they've started putting a copy of the entry stamp on the reverse of the TM.6 card some time ago.

    opalhort

I left the country before the 90 days was due and yes immigration stamped the back of the TM6 card. So a copy was needed.

  7. I just did my 90 report by mail for the first time.

I enclosed all the documents as required on their website. ie:

    # Copy of all passport pages (up to the latest arrival stamp in the Kingdom or latest visa stamp)

    # Copy of arrival/departure card TM.6 (front and back)

    # Previous notifications of staying over 90 days (if any)

    # Completely filled in and signed notification form TM.47

    # Envelope with 5 Baht stamp affixed and return address of foreigner for the officer in charge to send back the lower part of form TM. 47 after having received the notification. This part must be kept for reference and for future notifications of staying over 90 days.

    # The above mentioned documents must be sent by registered mail and the receipt of the registration kept by the foreigner.

Send the mail before the renewal date 7 days to

    90 DAYS REGISTRATION,

    IMMIGRATION DIVISION 1

    120 MOO 3, CHAENGWATTANA ROAD,SOI 7,

    LAKSI, BANGKOK. 10210

I read somewhere on Thaivisa that the 5 baht stamped addressed envelope should be 10 baht so I enclosed that amount.

Everything went fine and there were no problems. It took about 2 weeks.

The only thing that surprised me was a little hand written note saying "next time send only original TM47". and all the other photocopies were returned to me.

So my question now is: Is this a language mistake and they mean that they require the original TM47 and not a copy (I sent a copy) OR do they mean they don't need the other documents at all?

  8. he was in france last week end buying a louis vuitton bag for his daughter...

    call sarkozy...

I am still not convinced he will be convicted or even arrested. They seem to be throwing out arrest warrants here and there.

Now Arisman has been arrested and transferred to Border Control Police (or something like that). We have seen just how inactive the police have been recently. Why wasn't he transferred to the military camp at Hua Hin together with the other leaders? I am sure he'll e out on bail tomorrow and out of the country within hours.

Edit Just seen that it's Naresuan border patrol police camp in Phetchburi

  9. Same here,a lot of speculative news at the moment.I have seen pictures from buildings burning down previously. The picture shown from Central world on this forum indicates that there will be a lot of smoke damage. But burning down and collapsing? No way.

It won't collapse completely, and there might not be any areas that collapse, but I expect it will be knocked down as it won't be structually usable once the fire is put out.

Just read that Siam Theatre has reportedly caved in. I don't know whether it's true or not. So I guess parts of Central World well may collapse.

  10. Human shields, killing rescue workers, assault of a hospital are war crimes (Geneva convention).

All discussion about this here forgets this fact. Only terrorists don't know it. The "final shot", if necessary, is allowed to protect the helpless.

On the video you can clearly see the face of the father or guardian whatever he is. Now it's been shown on TV. Maybe he'll be "punished" sometime in the future.

  11. Bangkok burning, people dying, Thaksin shopping at Louis Vuitton Paris..

Here's a guy with his priorities all lined up.

Think he could've been to the Monaco Grand Prix with his daughter and a large contingent of hi-so Thai's affiliated with the red bull family. Anyway, I thought he was banned from EU states?

I don't know whether or not he was banned from the EU but there's something strange with this photo. We are told it was taken on the Champs Elysées in Paris but all the people around Thaksin are or look Asian.

The wife just said that only Asians shop there. She has been a few times and said the only white people you will see are the staff.

  12. 28492119474711418394114.jpg

its actually from the BBC website, you expert computer graphics guy....

    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/asia-pacific/8684506.stm

Where did they bought the programme?? Pathunam Centre??

is that a veiled accusation that the BBC doctored this picture?

do you even know what the BBC is?

I was watching BBC last night and they gave the impression that the reds had been protesting peacefully for 2 weeks in a small area of Bangkok. I have always liked the BBC but I can see that they are totally biased now.

  13. It is getting ridiculous the excusses that the Farang yellow shirts are comming up with to justify the shooting of a 10 yr old child as we have seen thoughout these last 86 pages.

    1. He was armed and threatend soldiers.

    2. He was in a van speeding towards a check point packed with explosives.

    3. He was in a van packed full of weapons.

    4. he was in a van full of Red propaganda

    5. He was outside the van and armed threatening soldiers

    6. it was a school night and he refused to go to bed.

You don't need excuses. Anyone speeding up when approaching an army checkpoint in these conditions is certain to be shot at. What the hel_l does he expect?

I also read a report in the Daily Mail (UK newspaper) today where the reporter stood next to a young man who aimed a laser pen at a soldier. The reporter wrote something like "he immediately fell to the ground after being hit".

Who in their right sense of mind would do such a stupid thing???

  14. Well , today 13 may, 06:00 something

I just came from Rama IV, to Wireless, Sarasin, and I am now in LangSuan without any check point, control or whatsoever

Meaning that whoever wants to bring in the red area train loads of food and supplies will do same as normal......

    Strange way to sever supplies

I don't know what the government are thinking. They announce this "shutdown" and then cancel it. I just read about and saw photos in another newspaper of the reds filling pickups with large plastic tanks full of diesel. I guess they can bring in enough supplies to last for weeks now.

In another article a resident in a soi just off Rajadamri was complaining that she had to pay between 20 and 200 baht to the red shirt guards to pass in and out of the soi and yet they complain about the government wanting to turn off power for a short time.
