Since it was reported years ago that Thaksin's Thai passport was cancelled, I assume he flew in today using his Montenegro passport, and received a 30 day visa exempt stamp. Curious whether Thai Immigration will treat him as a foreigner then....will need to file a TM30 from the Corrective Services Dept, apply for a Thai Elite Card, or LTR etc. Although in such scenario he'd be unlikely to fulfil the requirement for a criminal record check. -

Indeed, including some substantial monetary donations he would have made to ensure a smooth return.

It was mostly the export of animal feed products from Thailand to several markets in NE Asia. -
Export-only company
mark5335 replied to Somros's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I did this 10 years ago so unsure whether it's still possible. My lawyer incorporated the company at the DBD as a Thai owned company and a month later changed the shareholders to 100% foreign. The was properly registered at the DBD and our annual audited filings were accepted at the DBD and the RD without problem. (I'm unsure what the penalty would have been is we had transacted any domestic sales.) -
Here's a list of current bank deposit interest rates. The right hand column shows FD's up to 24 months indicating that both K Bank and SCB paying up to 2.0% p.a. Note that this can be a bit misleading as they are typically step-up interest rates meaning the FD might commence at say, 1.10% for the first 5 mths and eventually increase to 2.0% for the final 5 months. It doesn't appear to be an exhaustive list of current FD offerings as I know that LH Bank (unsure if they have a branch in Chiang Mai) have a current promotion of 2.1% p.a. for 11 months. https://www.bot.or.th/en/statistics/interest-rate.html

Driving Licence Renewal - Certificate of Residency - Problems
mark5335 replied to peter267's topic in Central Thailand
I did my last DL renewal at DLT Cha-am also, although my registered address is in Bangkok. Similarly to your experience it was hassle-free, as well as being quick and friendly - in stark contrast to DLT Bangchak in Bangkok. -
If it's an important document, for both speed and safety reasons I use DHL to send from Bangkok to Sydney.

and none of the officers are pointing at the accused...

Indeed, hence the increase in adverts...pump up the revenues so it will support a higher business valuation prior to the sale.

I was involved in a civil case in Bangkok 3 years ago (as the respondent), and there was no restriction placed on my passport and in fact I travelled overseas unimpeded. Obviously it would be diffient for a criminal case.

Report Mae Sai border run

Yes, in fact the FB Group Moderator mentioned earlier today as follows: "At this time the only Burma border open is the Ranong / Kawthaung". -
Report Mae Sai border run
mark5335 replied to FriendlyFarang's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Glad I did a painless border bounce at Mae Sai / Tachileik last week, as it was reported today on the Thai Visa Advice FB group that this checkpoint (as well as Mai Sot) are now temporarily closed. -
The standard Thai company objectives include carrying on a business such as retails/wholesale trade etc. So you could undertake such activity in your Thai company. Apart from facilitating land ownership a key advantage to owning the property in your Thai company name is that if you later choose to sell the property, it can be done a by a simple share transfer (for transfer of ownership of the company at the Dept of Business Development) rather than a land sale at the Land Office. This means that you won't need to pay the Transfer Tax etc. which can be quite a saving. On the downside, with the company you'll have unavoidable annual fixed costs for filing of company tax returns and audit (say, about THB50K)

Apparently No Idea's new location will be in Soi 18.

Going through customs with vitamins/supplements/powders?
mark5335 replied to tremsy's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I've been importing vitamins once every couple of months through online vitamin stores in the USA and Aust. To date, I haven't had to visit Thai Post or Customs to pay import taxes. The key thing that I've noted is the necessity to keep the package value below THB3,500 and limit each package to no more than 6 items. -
ADHD test for adults in Bangkok?
mark5335 replied to lambshankredemption's topic in Health and Medicine
Manarom Hospital in Bangna is often suggested. https://www.manarom.com/adult_eng.html However, I would be inclined to try the western doctor you mentioned for better communication. -
I was in Hong Kong a few weeks ago, and noticed the same trend there with many retailers insisting on payment by a 'tap & go' credit/debit card than handling cash...even for simple bills such as a snack & coffee. Coincidentally, the gov't there is also rolling out a stimulus program but more generous than that in proposed by Pheu Thai Party here, in line with the significantly higher cost of living over in HK.

Not if your home is in a condominium. But if your home is a villa/bungalow/apartment building it's possible subject to the owner/landlord's consent. The cheapest option would usually be a virtual office, in which the serviced office provider is able to register the address with the DBD.

Getting a IBAN bank account
mark5335 replied to bubblegum's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
If you apply for a Wise account (from Thailand), you can be issued separate IBAN codes for both EUR and GBP.
