So you are still taking NR despite the cancer linkage...I've been taking NMN instead (early morning), and also Taurine later in the day.

Ho Chi Minh Multiple Entry Marriage Visa
mark5335 replied to leeedwards's topic in Vietnam Visa and Immigration
I got a 12 mth M/E Non O Thai Visa from the consulate in HCMC earlier this year. I made an online appointment 3 weeks in advance and brought with me the required documents that they had listed on their website, as well as my Thai bank book. It was a painless experience and I received the visa 2 days later. -
I've never been a UK/EU resident so the non-residence issue did not apply. The purpose is for receiving commission income from European clients for a new project I'm involved with. I liked the jurisdiction reputation of IOM and tax treatment, as well as good interest rates on FD's if I accumulate funds there.

I'm going through the account opening procedure with Standard Bank, Isle of Man at present. If doing it remotely it takes a few weeks including video calls and their own due diligence and background checks. The minimum account balance for their Optimum Account which is their transactional account is $7,000. The interest rates offered on their Fixed Term Deposits is of course much better than in Thailand.

With the prevailing poor air quality over the past week the mask wearing at present is not unexpected.

I've been buying monthly from iHerb for most of this year, and the typical delivery time has been about 8 days. However, this month the deliveries are significantly slower. I noticed in the order tracking that this month my orders are being delivered from LA to BKK via Doha, whereas in the past it had been LA to BKK via SG, so this change in transhipment location seems to have slowed the delivery times. Hopefully, the current delays are only temporary.

Cambodia: e-visa / on arrival visa
mark5335 replied to mixmediana's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
The amounts that you've mentioned are for the Angkor Wat entry fees. Instead you should apply for the 30 day e-visa, as per the following: https://www.evisa.gov.kh/information/visa_type/4 -

Krungsri Exclusive - Any experiences?
mark5335 replied to Foxx's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I got the Krungsri Exclusive Visa card earlier this year. In my opinion there's not much benefit in being a Krungsri Exclusive client unless they approve you the visa card, as quite a few of the benefits come with the card. Fortunately, I already had a current Krungsri Platinum Visa card (unsecured) from years ago when I had a work permit. So I had to apply for swapping the card to the Krungsri Exclusive Visa card (unsecured) which took a couple of weeks. I was not required to show updated income documents which was a relief, but I did need to consent to an updated credit bureau report. Without the existing track-record I believe that applying for their visa card on an unsecured basis would be difficult. My accounts are domiciled at their Emquartier branch, which is foreigner friendly. The staff there took care of the visa card swap application, and occasionally they contact me of there's a new fixed deposit offering. They have plenty of info on investing in mutual funds although that's mostly in Thai language. -

Since it was reported years ago that Thaksin's Thai passport was cancelled, I assume he flew in today using his Montenegro passport, and received a 30 day visa exempt stamp. Curious whether Thai Immigration will treat him as a foreigner then....will need to file a TM30 from the Corrective Services Dept, apply for a Thai Elite Card, or LTR etc. Although in such scenario he'd be unlikely to fulfil the requirement for a criminal record check. -

Indeed, including some substantial monetary donations he would have made to ensure a smooth return.

Export-only company
mark5335 replied to Somros's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I did this 10 years ago so unsure whether it's still possible. My lawyer incorporated the company at the DBD as a Thai owned company and a month later changed the shareholders to 100% foreign. The was properly registered at the DBD and our annual audited filings were accepted at the DBD and the RD without problem. (I'm unsure what the penalty would have been is we had transacted any domestic sales.) -
Here's a list of current bank deposit interest rates. The right hand column shows FD's up to 24 months indicating that both K Bank and SCB paying up to 2.0% p.a. Note that this can be a bit misleading as they are typically step-up interest rates meaning the FD might commence at say, 1.10% for the first 5 mths and eventually increase to 2.0% for the final 5 months. It doesn't appear to be an exhaustive list of current FD offerings as I know that LH Bank (unsure if they have a branch in Chiang Mai) have a current promotion of 2.1% p.a. for 11 months. https://www.bot.or.th/en/statistics/interest-rate.html

Driving Licence Renewal - Certificate of Residency - Problems
mark5335 replied to peter267's topic in Central Thailand
I did my last DL renewal at DLT Cha-am also, although my registered address is in Bangkok. Similarly to your experience it was hassle-free, as well as being quick and friendly - in stark contrast to DLT Bangchak in Bangkok. -
If it's an important document, for both speed and safety reasons I use DHL to send from Bangkok to Sydney.
