British woman breaks nearly every bone in face in Thailand
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
Was she wearing the best helmet she could afford? Or any helmet at all? Was she an experienced rider? If riding a motorbike here, treat the activity as an act of war, in a sense that you may be mowed down or killed at any moment. Maintain eyes in the back of your head. Watch everyone. Expect craziness, insanity, lack of reason, and a complete lack of courtesy and respect on the roads, at all times. Expect cars and trucks to be coming at you in the wrong lane. Expect people to overtake you with the slimmest of margins. Expect trucks to be driving very slowly in the fast lane of a highway. If riding a motorbike, only do so if you have many years of experience. Especially on the southern islands, where huge numbers of foreigners leave Thailand in a wooden box. Drive like a grandmother. This applies to ex-pats too. Bring along an international drivers license. This helps you to avoid being fleeced by the local police franchisee. -

Well, we may be not know who they all are, but we sure know what they all are. -
Never been fooled by that. Name a few billionaires who are truly decent people, and possess at least some morality. Ted Turner is one of the only ones I can think of. He is doing alot of good work with his land management, and does not seem to be the slightest bit interested in increasing his fortune, at a cost to humanity. Quite the opposite of Musk, Bezos, the Koch Brothers, Trump, and countless others.

The great man appears to be quite sensitive to criticism and willing to engage in censorship, after claiming he would not. It is obvious his wealth has gotten to his head and he is not wearing his power lightly or with grace. Meanwhile his share holders at Tesla are revolting, as the stock has dropped more than 60%, and he appears to have lost interest in management of the company. Additionally many owners and investors are finding the brand increasingly toxic, due to his continued, unhinged ranting on Twitter. He appears to be losing the plot.

Deputy PM Endorses Massive Plan to Combat Flooding and Drought

While the increased reservoir capacity will help with the floods, the modified Hopi rain dances with help with the drought. -
Hey Vlad. We all know you are very self conscious of your lack of height. And that may be a contributing factor to your level of meanness, nastiness, warmongering, and dissatisfaction with your self and your life. But, that is no excuse for your bullying. Many bullies meet a cruel end. We can only hope.

Message to Vlad the madman. Invading foreign nations can lead to unpredictable consequences. Such as exposing your nation and your military as the broken down, hapless, weak, anemic, sorry, backward, highly incapable nation it really is, and exposing yourself as an unhinged, serial killing, genocidal, power hungry despot dictator.

No reason for the runoff of sewer waste? How about the government and the authorities bring too cheap to build sufficient waste water treatment plants? How about a population that professes to love their nation, yet stubbornly refuses to look after the water, the air and the land? Those seem like good reasons to me.

Can Thailand afford to raise minimum wage to 600 baht?
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
1. Even if the laws are passed, will the government enforce it, and hold bad employers to account? 2. Will they continue to refuse to grant Burmese, and other foreign workers the same protections afforded to Thais? -
Why would the big dogs involvement change anything at all? This was always about the RTP not being compensated and not being partners with the Chinese triads. Will the chief be the top negotiator with the triads now? It appears that way. So, it is likely the only way the Chinese will be charged, is if they do not agree with the RTP mafia partnership terms.

Poll: 50%+ Gen Z Thais say end booze ban on Buddhist religious days
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Closing the bars and preventing the sale of liquor on holidays is like using straw to build a dam to hold back the Mekong. I don't think so. It is futile, oppressive, puritanical, and sad. No wonder the youth disapprove. -
So says the 3 martini lunch guy. Means alot to us. And we all thought dinosaurs were already extinct. Fight drugs - not sincere. And if you consider ganga a good a narcotic, God help the nation. Tackle poverty and inequality - extremely insincere. What have you ever done, or even proposed to help the little guy? When have you not protected your super rich cronies? Address the problem of corruption in government. Really? You mean Prayuth style? Besides this being a good talking point, why would anyone take you seriously? What are your anti establishment credentials? Guard against further pandemics - you mean Xi style? Zero type policies? Or choking off tourism again, thereby decimating the economy even more? Address problems among youth - hold on. Historically, dinosaurs have proven they just don't care about the youth. Quite the opposite. You goons view them as a threat rather than a promising and glorious future. And restore the economy to its former glory. Ha! That window has closed. And it would require the kind of progressive and visionary policies you guys can't even dream about. Nope. You are disqualified. We need the youth you claim to want to help. You really want to help the youth? Help them gain power, so the nation can move forward. They are the only future this nation has. You are not.
