  1. I wouldn't want to have a lawyer and a retired cop as enemies. Both are potentially toxic souls. Both are likely to not know moral boundaries. A legal battle would likely be treated as fun sport by your lawyer next door. And there is no way to know what it would end up costing you. And the retired cop is a wild card. This kind of diligence work is best done in advance. If it were me, I would sell and move on. Find more suitable neighbors, or better yet, no neighbors.
  2. Thanks. Heading there soon. Good to know. It is a beautiful island. Nice when it is not infested with tourists!
  3. Nobody forced him to get on board. It is about kindness and respect. You don't want it no problem. You take it, offer something fair and reasonable. Would you like to be on the receiving end of that deal?
  4. I had a car I was asking $200,000 for. When I dropped the price to $30k, it sold. What they were asking and what it is worth sometimes has no correlation. Do your research. Alot of Thais have their head in the clouds when it comes to the real value of land.
  5. That seems very high for farm land. Is it adjacent to a big city? One of the issues with rice land is it is not easy to convert the land to a more profitable crop. Rice is a horrendous crop. Is it chanote title? In Chaiyaphum province land goes for 30,000 to 100,000 per rai, depending on location and title.
  6. Totally agree. Some are just not needed, not required, just consume oxygen and take up space. Sort of like human vampires. I can think of many here, who will remain unnamed.
  7. This review was partial to restaurants in the five star hotels. Some of them are good, but nearly all are over priced. Simpler restaurants like Mamma Mia, Dorigo, Flavours, Ogen, Ko Mark, S & S Indian, Restaurant 94, and many others in Hua Hin offer great food for the money. It is a shame there is not a good Japanese restaurant there, but the town has alot of great dining options.
  8. While I would certainly have offered her an explanation, and given her some modest cash to get re-settled, he did not feel the need to. Perhaps he felt that she would be easier to escape from, without giving her notice. I could understand why he felt the pressure. No man should have to live like that. We make choices in life. Alot of guys just let woman run them over. Some come from the West, and assume they have to be the same SIMP they were back there. Here, it is not required, nor do most Asian women respect a submissive man.
  9. More fiction from an administration that has been humiliated by their own lack of courage, consistent policy, and being way behind the curve with re-opening. Likely they are including business visas, returning ex-pats, and who knows what else. They have not seem a million tourists in 5 months, four of which had quarantine requirements. Been through the airport twice in that period, and it was very quiet. One of these images was taken earlier this year, and the other taken just a few weeks ago.
  10. Still no excuse for being a cheap Charlie. You take advantage of a woman's services, no matter the circumstances, and if it is PFP, you treat them with kindness, respect and pay them a fair wage. Basic human decency.
  11. No, it appears you are the gutless one. We determine the lives we want to live, and then we set about to create that reality. Guys like you just get dominated and abused.
  12. Congrats. When I first got with my Thai woman, it took alot of adjustment for her to start behaving like a mature woman. She was also very clingy, possessive and jealous. It just did not work for me. Never been my style. I explained to her, that I would not tolerate that kind of childish nonsense, and that if she wanted the relationship to work, she would need to figure out a way to modify her behavior. She did. She was amazing. Granted this will likely only work with a younger woman, as the older ones are far more set in their ways, less open minded, and less capable of change and improvement. The younger ones are more open minded, and less rigid. We now enjoy a very independent relationship, even though we live together. She hangs out with her friends most of the day. I hang out with mine whenever I want. I am able to enjoy alot of solo time, and need that. She takes trips and so do I, and we are sometimes apart for days at a time. We both love our independence, and have been together for many years now. It is a wonderful lifestyle, something NONE of my friends enjoy. It started by being assertive, laying down some ground rules, and sticking with what works for me. Early on in our relationship my wife and I discussed the wonders and value of independence. She did not understand at first, as it is inherent within the nature of most Thais to be overly possessive, jealous and clingy. I told her I would much rather be dead, than live that life. She got it. And we both adore the independence we have to this day. Some accept the nonsense. Some fight it and carve out their dream reality. It is possible. For the more docile guys, this kind of thing would never work, as they would allow the juvenile jealousy and possessive lifestyle of the woman to dominate their lives. No thanks. Would rather be single, than tolerate this kind of thing.
  13. I hope it is clearly labeled, so I can avoid buying it.
  14. Simple divorce is so much more elegant and dignified. Such losers. Obviously things did not work out. Real men just walk away.
  15. Not sure if any amount of money would be enough to be herded like cattle, on a daily basis. No thanks. Very grateful, not to have to endure that.
  16. There are countless exercises you can do in the comfort of your home. The elastic straps attached to a door frame allow dozens of variations. Many YouTube workouts. No excuse, other than sheer laziness. Beyond 60, we pay a huge price for a lack of fitness. All downhill, without it.
  17. Let us hope the retrograde kid is at least taken out to the woodshed for a good beating. Unlikely, in this day and age of parenting. How else is he going to learn about morality?
  18. True. And I forgot officials, cops, etc. Trying not to be too offensive.
  19. You could be right. Regardless, little loss to the planet! One less money lender or money lender's thug. My heart bleeds.
  20. Was she unconscious or in some sort of drug induced stupor? How does someone who has a deadly allergy to shrimp, chew off half a shrimp, without realizing it? Hello! Earth to shrimp woman. Where have you been? Why such a lack situational awareness?
  21. So much of the information in this article means very little. One would only live in Bangkok, if they are a world capital sort of person. As much as I love Bangkok, and love spending time there, I would not want to live there full time. Of course, everyone is different. In many medium and smaller cities in Thailand one can find a small apartment for under 10,000 a month, and nice houses for well under 20,000 a month. That is cheap. That same house in Los Angeles, is 120,000 baht a month. Likely the same applies to many big cities around the world. In the US, Australia, all of Europe, NZ, and Canada pricing for nearly anything is out of control, and only going up. He says Bangkok is 50% less than Singapore. In Singapore a large beer is 400 baht and up. A good meal is 2,000 baht and up. In BKK a beer is 70 baht at a bar. I can get a good meal in Bangkok for 200 to 300 baht. No comparison. Anything labor related? What cost us 500 baht here is $75-100 in Singapore, and $200 in Los Angeles. Sex? 4,000 baht in Singapore for 30 minutes. Here? And now that the saboteurs have nearly decimated the economy, my guess is that it is a renter's market in Bangkok, and it certainly is elsewhere in Thailand. Name your price, if you can find a desperado landlord, which many are now.
  22. Good on you. Yes, the prices will definitely correct. The US RE market is like a huge helium balloon, and with rising rates, the market is already cooling off. You are likely in a secure position having bought well. And rents will drop, but who knows by how much? Again, sounds like you are in a secure position, as nothing is grossly over inflated. Good for you.
  23. I cannot even interpret that. However, I agree with many of your posts, so I hope you and yours continue on with a very healthy life. I do think dropping population is a very good thing for humanity. On most levels. Sure, there may be some labor shortages. But, it will all be worked out.
  24. With the economy having been decimated to the extent is has been, this will become more common. Debt is likely soaring here, amongst 60-70% of the population. Millions of jobs have been lost, due to a slowing economy, and the sabotage of the tourism industry by the goons. I guess this is one way to deal with debt. I am certain he is not the first person to think of taking out a banker or a money lender. He just acted on his impulses. Normally, I am not a supporter of homicide. But, when it comes to bankers, money lenders, insurance people, stock brokers, and many corporate executives, my heart does not bleed.
  25. It sounds like it might have been one of those funky Thai salads with dried prawn in it, and made with a sauce or dressing with dried prawns. Could have also been an oyster or fish sauce. Anyone with an allergy to seafood, having been born here in Thailand should know better than to eat something like this.
