This is not about PC, but anything to avoid supporting a despot regime, that is morally bankrupt, is worth it by me.

Bar owners are finding it hard to recruit Thai girls

While that may apply to most people, that does not apply to the dinosaurs in charge. Everything about them is fake and insincere. Everything. -
Bar owners are finding it hard to recruit Thai girls
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
Not at all. Omicron was a huge blessing. Subsequent variants will be even weaker. If the goons develop some courage and open the country without any restrictions, some bars will reopen and some gals shall return. But, it will never be like before. The industry was already in decline. Now? The fake puritan goombahs may have accomplished their objective. Utter decimation of the industry. -
Kitti Kitti is likely including all arrivals, including business arrivals, returning expats, people with family here, etc. Any improvement is going to help a tiny bit. Scrap the test and go, and maybe you will see 2 million "real tourists" a year. For awhile. Thailand. The forgotten land.

There are no deep questions here. Unsettling, maybe. The RTP at it's inception seems to have been created with a status quo from the government. We will NOT pay you a living wage, but you have a franchise, and the limit of your income is based solely on your own creativity and initiative, and you will always be protected. Is that not the case? So, even if this writer was sincere, where would you begin to change that culture? You know where? You would double all salaries. And invest in modern equipment, forensic labs and an effective highway patrol. Probably a trillion baht to start.

Flights from Hua Hin to Kuala Lumpur set to resume June 1
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Hua Hin and Cha-Am News
Yes. And it is not only about the the cars. I sure would notice a difference flying to Khon Kean, instead of a horrendous and dangerous 11 hour drive. Time for them to man up and perform. -
In Thailand, the war in Ukraine divides the generations
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The old guard are not only conservative and conventional in their thinking, they tend to also be far less conscious. Saying you are OK with the Ukraine war, is like admitting you are morally bankrupt. Sure, go ahead and slaughter women and children. We support you. Thailand desperately needs their youth to take control. Out with the dinosaurs. -
The goofball brigade stays up all night dreaming of ways to keep Thailand safe. Saying this is like saying no somtam, or no Tom yum on Songkran. Each passing day is an exercise in ridiculousness for these guys. It would appear they have no idea whatsoever about how silly they appear to the nation. I have rarely met a Thai who holds them in high regard.

It has just been announced the Thai people will push for a ministry that actually cares about their safety, and actually does something to improve road safety. They might begin by getting the highway patrol, to actually patrol the highways, searching for reckless drivers. Only the RTP and the Thai army are less capable than the highway patrol. Somehow, these ministries who are always asking of the people, need to be held accountable to the people.

Took me awhike to get used to it, but I like it. Comfy and informal. Seen women in malls on Samui in PJ's. Very cool.

Flights from Hua Hin to Kuala Lumpur set to resume June 1

So, one of the most under utilized airports in SE Asia will have some flights again? How about 30 flights a day to all over the nation and the region? Stop the highway congestion!! -
Tourism’ event promotes eco-friendly travel experiences
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
TAT and TEATA have created tourism routes and activities that apply the BCG Economic Model in combination with the Happy Model and Carbon Balance model. OK. Now I know what they are saying. Models are involved. Wonder where they are from? Good, good. -
Even just the term corrupt policeman, when referring to the RTP, is like saying a dog with paws, or a cat with fur. He was likely shocked. Hold on. I am RTP. I am supposed to be above the law. You arresting me? Huh? They told me that would never happen.

I got stopped by the police on my scooter
spidermike007 replied to tethys's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
While it may not be practical for an occasional visitor it is a huge advantage to drive here with a Thai car or motorcycle license, or both. It dramatically lowers the chances of franchisee paydays. -
Nearly every friend I have in the US is single. Why? Because for a man in the US, who is past the age of 50, unless he is willing to get with a woman at least his age, his prospects are dim for finding love, or companionship. Some guys like me, simply prefer younger women. Not kids, but women who are 10, 15, even 20 or 25 years younger than us. For a dozen very valid reasons. I could break them down, but why bother? The PC crew will jump on this and say it is not right. You should not be able to have this kind of life, without jumping over ridiculous hurdles! Means nothing to me. I do not do PC. Why be with a woman our age, if we do not need to? Nothing wrong with it, if it works for you. But It is virtually impossible for a 60 year old man in the US, to hook up with a 35 year old woman, unless she is very fat or very ugly, or he is a centi millionaire, or is famous. Period. It just does not happen in this day and age. Here it is possible. Granted he will likely get with a woman of lesser means, who needs a guy who can provide some financial stability. So what? Who cares? Most women want financial stability anywhere in the world, whether they admit it or not. The difference is here the women are more honest about their financial needs and desires. I know a lot of us are engaged in relationships with lovely, kind, supportive, humorous, and sexy women here, and we have very good lives. Fulfilling lives. Lives we could never dream of having back in the US, Oz, NZ, UK, Canada, or Scandinavia. Even though my wife is very smart, I do not get much intellectual stimulation from the relationship. But, I get so much else. And in all of the relationships I was ever in with really smart women, who I got intellectual stimulation from, there was also so much grief to contend with. Such combative women. So much competition. Yikes. Thrilled to death to have left all of that behind. When I was only in the relationship for a year or so, I had dinner with a very sharp American friend. I asked him about that. He laughed. He said, when you feel the need for intellectual stimulation, call me. We can hook up for the meal, and break down the origins of the cosmos. Do not fret. That same brain that gives you that stimulation, also tends to give you so much grief, it is not worth it, on any level. Get over it. Enjoy all of the other qualities, that make your day so delightful and fulfilling. Great advice, that I have followed to this day. I learned long ago that an intellectual woman, who can match me intellectually, also tends to be a combative woman, and the chance of harmony is low. I for one, love a harmonious house, where my woman is joyful and light hearted, with a great sense of humor, and an amazing attitude toward life, and us. Just my point of view. Whatever works for you, stick with it. One of the most wonderful things about Thailand, is that the judgment level of couples with signifiant differences in age, is not as harsh, as in the west. My wife is quite a bit younger than me too. It works really well for us. When I dated women close to my age back in the US, it rarely ever worked out. Most were very rigid, closed minded, and set in their ways. Plus, many liked to go to bed very early, and behaved as if they were 20 years older than they were. That was not fun. I find younger women to be far more vital, more vigorous, and if you are fortunate to find one, far more open minded and adventurous. I find when we are out in public many men stare at her, as she is still very attractive and fit, and look at me with envy. Women here seem to be fairly neutral. In the US we get some attention. She gets alot of looks, and the guys look at me like they presume I am a centi-millionaire. The gals look at me like I a felon, and have committed a major crime, by refusing to jump over the hurdles prescribed by them, and taking a shortcut to heaven. That is so much fun. It is a wonderful feeling to watch the Western women squirm and to witness their confusion and disapproval.

I have a better idea. How about getting the highway patrol to actually do their jobs, and patrol the highways, and pull over maniacs driving 200kph and other reckless drivers. That is how it works in most nations. So, why does Thailand hold traffic safety and our safety in such low regard? Why is it not a priority? Why do they drone on and on, and do nothing?

Let us hope RTN chief Admiral Somprasong Nilsamai utterly fails with this fools mission. Thailand needs submarines like Iceland needs aircraft carriers. Nobody is talking about how Thailand has not had a sub for over 60 years, why they need them, who the threats are, how they will be piloted, how they will be maintained, nor what the annual albatross budget will be.

Can the Thai hospitality sector survive 2022?
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The Pratin sabotage continues, unabated. Courage is needed, and the admission that Thailand is now the Zombie nation, and tourists should be far more afraid of Thailand, than Thais are of tourists. Once test and go is eventually scrapped, they may see 2 million tourists a year for the next few years. Thailand is being forgotten, and left behind. And the dinosaurs are moving it backwards. Unfortunately, more lives will be devastated and more unhappiness will be brought to the people from the NWRP folks (never want to relenquish power). -
Thailand detects first case of 'Omicron XE' variant
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Most viruses simply mutate into weaker forms of themselves before burning themselves out or becoming a very mild endemic type flu. Same here. This new one is likely to be even wimpier than Omicron. That is cause for celebration, not fear. Though the goons would not want you believing that!
