Good job. Now, they just have to find the other billions of baht. It is likely a police chief here makes hundreds of millions a year, since the entire thing is a pyramid scheme. And does anyone think Big Joke or the current chief are not taking in hundreds of millions? How about the so called leaders?

Anyone else would have been immediately arrested, and locked up. So, what gives? Special treatment for one of their own? Does the law not apply to officers? This man needs to be arrested, tried, convicted and imprisoned for the rest of his life. And his family should be forced to sell their home, and his condos and villas, to pay reparations.

This kind of ignoramus demand is made, when a nation reaches for the bottom of the barrel, for leadership. Not sure they could have found anyone less qualified. Interest rates are only a part of the formula. And what a small minded man like this will never admit, is that he presided over policies that caused much economic devastation, hardship and loss. Nobody is more toxic to the nation, at this time. And we thought Prayuth was a poor leader.

Do the right thing and stop at Zebras - campaign continues

Alternate slogans. Be nice. Do not mow down your countrymen. Just because you are behind the wheel, it does not mean you have to become a maniac. Taking a life is never a good thing. Don't maim. Look while you drive. Be nice to pedestrians. They could be your kids. -
Thousands face jail in Thailand for repeat DUI offences

I think it is a good idea. From a legislative point of view. Now, getting the spectacularly weak and highly partial judicial system to actually enforce the law will be the biggest challenge. -
Marrying a 17 year old Thai girl in the village
spidermike007 replied to Adumbration's topic in Marriage and Divorce
No legal or moral issues here. Just common sense issues. Why on earth would anyone want to marry a 17 year old? Sure she likely has a great body. At least until the first kid arrives. But, what else? Anything to relate to? I totally understand getting with a younger woman. As long as there is some common ground. But, I think I suffer from the disease of CSR (common sense and reason). This sounds like a trophy thing. -
If he had years and years of experience, and was a highly talented glider, nothing wrong with that at his age. Anything short of that and the risk is high. I am quite a bit younger than him, and I weigh the risks of certain activities these days, against a potential injury and handicap. Just one reason I gave up snow skiing.

Foreigners infected with COVID-19 can visit Thailand
spidermike007 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Policy here always seems to bounce from one extreme tto the other. Bouncing from punitive and highly selective shutdown of businesses, that resulted in a devastated economy, rising suicides, life savings lost by many trying to sustain a life long business, and increased homelessness. A total shutdown of tourism, resulting in the possibility that the industry has been permanently damaged, curfews, mandatory mask wearing outside, etc. And now, anyone can come. Perhaps they now realize Thailand is NOT the center of the known universe, the nation needs tourists 50X more than tourists need Thailand, and when you open your doors and relax crazy restrictions after 27 months, tourists will not just come flooding in. -
Wife is dead set on moving to London
spidermike007 replied to cyril sneer's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Has she spent time there? My wife wanted to move. Took here to the US for 2 months. It was so over priced, most people were so sad, stressed out, and bitter, so serious and lacking in joy, she could not wait to get back here. Me too. Very happy to be here. Just say no. I left. I don't want to go back. If you can't wrap your mind around that, we are not compatible. We are finished. Let's get divorced. Go to London on your own. If you can. Bye bye. See ya. -
They are just starting to come to terms with the devastation caused by the Prayuth Decimation. You don't just open up after 27 months, and the world pours in. And the goons still don't realize and haven't acknowledged that Thailand needs tourism 50X more than tourists need Thailand. Predicting a post Covid economy for a nation that was hugely dependent on a grossly sabotaged tourism, nightlife, and sex industry, is likely to have the same accuracy level of guessing the winning numbers for the upcoming mega millions in the US, when it tops $100 million. I truly believe, that 20 or 30 years from now, in tourism industry, business and sociology classes, at the uni level, there will be tours of these hollowed out shells, of huge hotels that were built, and could neither find guests to stay, nor even a market for condo conversions, and ended up abandoned, after buyers could not be found, or owners refused to accept 20% of the land and construction costs, as a sales price. That is where I see the future of Thai tourism.

The snorkeling and scuba are subpar, by any reasonable standard of comparison, unless you are on the Andaman. Then it is decent, but anything but world class. There is some nice hiking here. Some come for R&R. It is hard to find good TLC in the west. I certainly understand the desire for nightlife.
