  1. I think it is a good idea. From a legislative point of view. Now, getting the spectacularly weak and highly partial judicial system to actually enforce the law will be the biggest challenge.
  2. Making any sort of tourism arrival, ticket sales or related prediction at this time is impossible. It is even more difficult for an airline that has fallen off it's perch, has seen it's service drop off, and has a badly damaged reputation too.
  3. No legal or moral issues here. Just common sense issues. Why on earth would anyone want to marry a 17 year old? Sure she likely has a great body. At least until the first kid arrives. But, what else? Anything to relate to? I totally understand getting with a younger woman. As long as there is some common ground. But, I think I suffer from the disease of CSR (common sense and reason). This sounds like a trophy thing.
  4. If he had years and years of experience, and was a highly talented glider, nothing wrong with that at his age. Anything short of that and the risk is high. I am quite a bit younger than him, and I weigh the risks of certain activities these days, against a potential injury and handicap. Just one reason I gave up snow skiing.
  5. Policy here always seems to bounce from one extreme tto the other. Bouncing from punitive and highly selective shutdown of businesses, that resulted in a devastated economy, rising suicides, life savings lost by many trying to sustain a life long business, and increased homelessness. A total shutdown of tourism, resulting in the possibility that the industry has been permanently damaged, curfews, mandatory mask wearing outside, etc. And now, anyone can come. Perhaps they now realize Thailand is NOT the center of the known universe, the nation needs tourists 50X more than tourists need Thailand, and when you open your doors and relax crazy restrictions after 27 months, tourists will not just come flooding in.
  6. The same reasons why any nudity, and smoking are obscured on TV and film, and alcohol is not allowed for purchase between 2 and 5pm. It is a total misunderstanding of human nature, combined with a false sense of purity.
  7. The Chinese real estate correction is just beginning. I think they may be sidelined for quite some time.
  8. And what about the permanent damage to the liver caused by daily alcohol consumption? If ganga affects the reasoning at all, it is by allowing one to see outside the box, and the extent to which we are being deceived by government, society and popular culture.
  9. Has she spent time there? My wife wanted to move. Took here to the US for 2 months. It was so over priced, most people were so sad, stressed out, and bitter, so serious and lacking in joy, she could not wait to get back here. Me too. Very happy to be here. Just say no. I left. I don't want to go back. If you can't wrap your mind around that, we are not compatible. We are finished. Let's get divorced. Go to London on your own. If you can. Bye bye. See ya.
  10. They are just starting to come to terms with the devastation caused by the Prayuth Decimation. You don't just open up after 27 months, and the world pours in. And the goons still don't realize and haven't acknowledged that Thailand needs tourism 50X more than tourists need Thailand. Predicting a post Covid economy for a nation that was hugely dependent on a grossly sabotaged tourism, nightlife, and sex industry, is likely to have the same accuracy level of guessing the winning numbers for the upcoming mega millions in the US, when it tops $100 million. I truly believe, that 20 or 30 years from now, in tourism industry, business and sociology classes, at the uni level, there will be tours of these hollowed out shells, of huge hotels that were built, and could neither find guests to stay, nor even a market for condo conversions, and ended up abandoned, after buyers could not be found, or owners refused to accept 20% of the land and construction costs, as a sales price. That is where I see the future of Thai tourism.
  11. If the post is accurate, it is no doubt a real desperado, with far too much cash. He is spoiling things for everyone. There are alot of weak men in LA, who pay up to $10,000 a month for a very hot, young woman, to hang out with, sleep with and be seen with. What can one say?
  12. The snorkeling and scuba are subpar, by any reasonable standard of comparison, unless you are on the Andaman. Then it is decent, but anything but world class. There is some nice hiking here. Some come for R&R. It is hard to find good TLC in the west. I certainly understand the desire for nightlife.
  13. Is it a reasonable presumption a good part of the aggression is coming from highly defensive pit bull owners, who have not had a child, nor a neighbor maimed yet?
  14. I would not believe the CDC, if my life depended upon it. Same applies to most American 3 letter govt. agencies. After all, we are talking about the feds, who still pursue ganga crimes. Lost in space.
  15. The basket does not even come close to reflecting the average consumer. Every time I go back to the US, things are 20% higher, and I have been back 3 times in the past 9 months. When a chicken sandwich at Carl's Jr. goes up 70% in one year, they are not reflecting the average consumer increases, with that deceptive number. Same with their French fries going from $2.29 to $3.99 in one year. Sorry. But this is covid gouging, and not 8.5% inflation. That is a sick joke, intended to deceive the most naive.
  16. It is similar to owning a burger joint, but requires more creativity.
  17. Great lifestyle. HH is a nice town. Not too busy, plenty of shopping, good food, enough nightlife, great beaches to the south, some nice rural areas within an hour, etc. If and when they start using the airport for more domestic and regional flights, it will be even better.
  18. Inflation is in a hyper cycle now. It is far more apparent outside of Thailand. So, anything that gets imported is going up. Some products are going up alot. Real inflation in the US now is likely 28%. It is stunning and the government keeps lying about the real numbers.
  19. 1. There is no Buddhavistic merit is feeding strays. They are a scourge. 2. Owning a pit bull is never a smart choice. Especially when there are kids around. It does not matter how they are raised. They just seem to have a vicious and aggressive gene. They are horrendous creatures. 3. Compassion is something that should be well placed. There are circumstances where it is just not justified.
  20. I go to a local doctor on my corner, and he gets these tests done at a very low cost. Same day or next day service.
  21. Yeah. If only the police here cared. Their apathy knows no bounds. Upholding the law, is not their strong suit. Always remember, they are franchisees, not law enforcement officers.
  22. And like the previous Omicron variants, it is likely weaker, more feeble, less harmful and results in far less fatalities. This thing is going away. Let's celebrate that.
  23. Some people and some cultures just don't have enough respect for women. There is never, ever a circumstance that justifies a man beating up a woman. Vermin.
  24. Likely the least scientific post of the day. Cannibis changed my consciousness. For the better. Made me far more open minded. So did LSD. And yes, it affected my memory and concentration. Just one of the reasons I gave it up. I doubt it was long term. Overall, cannabis is a relatively harmless drug, in moderation. Unless you count a loss of ambition to be a detriment. Is believing in a higher sense of being such a bad thing?
  25. Yes. There are some outstanding, honest and righteous Thais out there. Most are not landlords. LOL. But, some are. Ours is very fair. A truly kind and honest woman.
