Poll: 50%+ Gen Z Thais say end booze ban on Buddhist religious days
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Closing the bars and preventing the sale of liquor on holidays is like using straw to build a dam to hold back the Mekong. I don't think so. It is futile, oppressive, puritanical, and sad. No wonder the youth disapprove. -
So says the 3 martini lunch guy. Means alot to us. And we all thought dinosaurs were already extinct. Fight drugs - not sincere. And if you consider ganga a good a narcotic, God help the nation. Tackle poverty and inequality - extremely insincere. What have you ever done, or even proposed to help the little guy? When have you not protected your super rich cronies? Address the problem of corruption in government. Really? You mean Prayuth style? Besides this being a good talking point, why would anyone take you seriously? What are your anti establishment credentials? Guard against further pandemics - you mean Xi style? Zero type policies? Or choking off tourism again, thereby decimating the economy even more? Address problems among youth - hold on. Historically, dinosaurs have proven they just don't care about the youth. Quite the opposite. You goons view them as a threat rather than a promising and glorious future. And restore the economy to its former glory. Ha! That window has closed. And it would require the kind of progressive and visionary policies you guys can't even dream about. Nope. You are disqualified. We need the youth you claim to want to help. You really want to help the youth? Help them gain power, so the nation can move forward. They are the only future this nation has. You are not.

Fact check. The terrible thing about facts, is they don't lie. Globally, the number of new weekly cases remained stable (-3%) during the week of 28 November to 4 December 2022 as compared to the previous week with just under 3 million new cases reported. The number of new weekly deaths decreased by 17% as compared to the previous week with about 7800 fatalities reported. As of 4 December 2022, over 641 million confirmed cases and 6.6 million deaths have been reported globally. https://www.who.int/publications/m/item/weekly-epidemiological-update-on-covid-19---7-december-2022 In Canada : Nationally, there has been a slight increase in hospital use by COVID-19 patients, but a stabilization in COVID-19 deaths. The weekly rate of COVID-19 cases hospitalized and admitted to ICU remained highest among individuals aged 80 years and older. https://health-infobase.canada.ca/covid-19/?source=covidTrends

Elon Musk booed off stage at a Dave Chappelle show
spidermike007 replied to Scott's topic in World News
Good, good. The man is an absolute goon, and is not wearing his wealth or status with grace. And is he contributing much to society? Is he giving much back? Or is he a modern day robber baron? -
Arizona sheriff vows to stop 'illegal' shipping crate border barrier

Ducey is obviously an unhinged man, leaving behind a monstrous legacy of waste and a hideous version of Americana. He needs to be stopped and punished for his hubris. -
Hopefully this new variant will be just as weak and pathetic as Omicron. The subsequent variants seem to be getting less lethal and that is a good thing. May this trend continue.

This likely has very little to do with fighting crime, but rather being disenfranchised, by not getting a piece of the action. So, this is about incorporating the Chinese gangsters and the triads into the RTP mafia. Anyone believing anything to the contrary has either not been here long enough, or is very naive.

While any direct flight from North America is good progress, not sure how many Americans will avail themselves of this. I fly from LA. Vancouver, or Taipei for a connection, is about the same for me. Perhaps even a longer flight through Vancouver. LA To Bangkok would be a whole different thing. But, with Thai Air, it would be overpriced. Would need other airlines to offer it. I know they tried it before, and there was not enough demand. That would likely be the case now, perhaps to more of an extent.

Thai PM urged to find ways to prevent collapse of House meetings

Biggest difference this time around is that there is no moral authority to support the coup. A world of difference. -
Norwegian man arrested on Samui Island for 15 days of overstay
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Koh Samui News
I tend to agree. It is a very, very minor offense. It does not rise to the occasion of making an arrest. And the recent crackdown is beyond silly. There are far more urgent matters these nitwits should be focusing their attention on. -
I lived in NYC in the 1980's and was in commercial real estate. I have always known who and what he was. Everyone who had dealings with him had the same horror stories. However, his presidency showed many millions who did know know who and what he was, exactly what the horrible truth was. That was then, and this is now. Everything has changed. Including the attitude of most of his former supporters.

Small hotels in Phuket are yet to benefit from tourism recovery
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Phuket News
Tourism here will likely remain decimated for a long time to come. I just booked a peak season resort for the holidays for 25% of what it would have cost 5 years ago. Woe is Thailand with the cowards in charge. The sabotage was historic. -
This totally unhinged man is likely not serious about this campaign. His window has closed, and his likelihood of victory is next to zero, though there is a small possibility that he is delusional enough to believe it is possible. It is more likely about continuing his life of theft and cheating his remaining devotees of hard earned money.

It is encouraging to see the RTP engaging in activities that keep the nation safe. These kinds of crimes threaten the moral fiber of the people here. We cannot let these kinds of immoral acts go unpunished, and we cannot allow the reputation of Thailand to be soiled or damaged. Sex is a terrible thing, and must be rooted out. Keep up the purification work.

It was certainly novel to have so few tourists around, but there is nothing else I miss about those heinous lockdowns. They decimated millions of lives, countless businesses were lost, and life was rough for many, and not being able to leave the country was awful. No, I would rather deal with some tourists, than have millions of Thais suffer the loss of tourism. The world is not just about me.
