Wife is dead set on moving to London
spidermike007 replied to cyril sneer's topic in Marriage and Divorce
Has she spent time there? My wife wanted to move. Took here to the US for 2 months. It was so over priced, most people were so sad, stressed out, and bitter, so serious and lacking in joy, she could not wait to get back here. Me too. Very happy to be here. Just say no. I left. I don't want to go back. If you can't wrap your mind around that, we are not compatible. We are finished. Let's get divorced. Go to London on your own. If you can. Bye bye. See ya. -
They are just starting to come to terms with the devastation caused by the Prayuth Decimation. You don't just open up after 27 months, and the world pours in. And the goons still don't realize and haven't acknowledged that Thailand needs tourism 50X more than tourists need Thailand. Predicting a post Covid economy for a nation that was hugely dependent on a grossly sabotaged tourism, nightlife, and sex industry, is likely to have the same accuracy level of guessing the winning numbers for the upcoming mega millions in the US, when it tops $100 million. I truly believe, that 20 or 30 years from now, in tourism industry, business and sociology classes, at the uni level, there will be tours of these hollowed out shells, of huge hotels that were built, and could neither find guests to stay, nor even a market for condo conversions, and ended up abandoned, after buyers could not be found, or owners refused to accept 20% of the land and construction costs, as a sales price. That is where I see the future of Thai tourism.

The snorkeling and scuba are subpar, by any reasonable standard of comparison, unless you are on the Andaman. Then it is decent, but anything but world class. There is some nice hiking here. Some come for R&R. It is hard to find good TLC in the west. I certainly understand the desire for nightlife.

The basket does not even come close to reflecting the average consumer. Every time I go back to the US, things are 20% higher, and I have been back 3 times in the past 9 months. When a chicken sandwich at Carl's Jr. goes up 70% in one year, they are not reflecting the average consumer increases, with that deceptive number. Same with their French fries going from $2.29 to $3.99 in one year. Sorry. But this is covid gouging, and not 8.5% inflation. That is a sick joke, intended to deceive the most naive.

Inflation is in a hyper cycle now. It is far more apparent outside of Thailand. So, anything that gets imported is going up. Some products are going up alot. Real inflation in the US now is likely 28%. It is stunning and the government keeps lying about the real numbers.

1. There is no Buddhavistic merit is feeding strays. They are a scourge. 2. Owning a pit bull is never a smart choice. Especially when there are kids around. It does not matter how they are raised. They just seem to have a vicious and aggressive gene. They are horrendous creatures. 3. Compassion is something that should be well placed. There are circumstances where it is just not justified.

Second Omicron BA.2.75.2 sub-variant case detected in Thailand
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
And like the previous Omicron variants, it is likely weaker, more feeble, less harmful and results in far less fatalities. This thing is going away. Let's celebrate that. -
Likely the least scientific post of the day. Cannibis changed my consciousness. For the better. Made me far more open minded. So did LSD. And yes, it affected my memory and concentration. Just one of the reasons I gave it up. I doubt it was long term. Overall, cannabis is a relatively harmless drug, in moderation. Unless you count a loss of ambition to be a detriment. Is believing in a higher sense of being such a bad thing?

Shoplifting like youve never seen !
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I California, many people walk into Walgreens, CVS, or a similar store, load up a wagon with $900 in goods, and walk straight out the door. The "security guards" do nothing, and the police seem to have very little interest. Further evidence of the breaking down of American society. Crime in America is way up and morality is way down. -
I think your instincts are good. Back off. This is one of those rare blessings. You have been warned by providence. Garbage fees are 20-40 baht per month and common fees are included in the rent or paid by the landlord. Make it clear to the agent that you are not going to rent, as the landlord appears to be a scoundrel.

I know that. You made that clear. We both appreciate sports. I was remarking on your statement regarding you know who. -
Electric Vehicles in Thailand
spidermike007 replied to Bandersnatch's topic in Thailand Motor Discussion
Very true. They need support from all branches of government and a willingness to spend real money on a network of charging stations. Otherwise, it is all hype, blabber and PR. So far, other than the announced tax breaks, which may or many not be real, and followed up on (see the details of Toyota VS. Thailand, going all the way up to the Supreme Court), with regard to promises of tax breaks that never happened. Resulting in Toyota pulling Prius production here. The history is not promising. The vision thing seems to be lacking. And EV represents progress, which would appear to be the last thing this administration represents. -
Thailand's COVID-19 Vaccine Expected in 2024
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Whether or not covid is going away is an opinion. One I have. The numbers are dropping worldwide, and each subsequent variant is proving to be weaker and weaker.
