Harris was a terrible choice and a terrible candidate, but even Miley Cyrus would have been a better choice than Trump. -
Democracy has failed the US,maybe it's time for a King

Delusion can be a very very powerful thing, do you really think that you matter to Trump?Give it about a year and you'll realize that you absolutely don't. -
Ha! In reality common sense is pushing the world's population down by itself. I've seen some recent studies that have China's population dropping to 650 million by the year 2060, multiple predictions also have shown Thailand's population to drop to 35 million within that same period. The people are just getting smart and many are deciding not to have children, or to have one child at the most. This is not a great time to be bringing children into the world, and people are wising up. I don't think they're going to be able to reverse that trend. And it's a good thing overall, though some pain will be felt, no doubt. World population needs to drop. What might appear to be an empty lifestyle to some, is bordering on paradise to many millions of us. Though I like kids, I've never had the desire to own any. One hour with one is plenty. It's a personal choice, we all have to make these kind of decisions. 98% choose to go the conventional route and have children. For me children were never an option. And I'm infinitely thankful for that. The best thing that's happening to the world right now is countries like China and Japan just saying no to children. I do not think children are that special, they're not really needed, they are way over rated, and thankfully it's a choice these days and not compulsory. A lot of people are saying no, I don't need the headaches, I don't need the nonsense, I don't need the expense, I don't need the responsibility, and the planet does not need any other kid. Nah, I choose to have a great life, I don't need kids. I did that and it was the wisest and smartest decision of this lifetime. I don't miss not having kids for a nanosecond. The declining birth rates are simply symptomatic of intelligent people looking at life in this day and age, looking at their financial situation, looking at the lack of state support, and just simply deciding that having children it's just not some place they need to go. If they're going to have children, many are limiting it to one child. There is nothing that could possibly be more positive for the future of Thailand, and the world, than a seriously declining birth rate. It's something that we need drastically. The last thing in the world this planet needs right now is an expanding population.

Chaos on Pattaya Beach: Drunk tourists fuel brawls in hotspot

I think that we can all agree that there may only be one aspect of Pattaya that can be called stunning, and that's the occasional 22-year-old that you run into! -
Pete Hegseth Pledges to Restore Warrior Ethos in U.S. Military
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
So is today's version of being a warrior having the inability to be loyal to one's wife? Is that where society has gone, or is that just simply a prerequisite of Trump to appoint somebody who's morally bankrupt? In 2004, Hegseth married his first wife, Meredith Schwarz, who was his high school girlfriend from Minnesota; they divorced in 2009 after he admitted to five affairs. In December 2008, Schwarz filed for divorce after Hegseth admitted that he cheated on her, according to four sources close to the couple; as APM Reports previously revealed that the infidelity was listed as grounds in the couple’s divorce proceedings. As per those sources, Hegseth’s infidelity left Schwarz emotionally and psychologically devastated. One of them told Vanity Fair, “She was gaslighted by him heavily throughout their relationship. As far as everyone else was concerned, they were viewed by many as this all-American power couple that were making big things for themselves.” -
Thanks for the info. I would definitely miss the windshield, I find it to be very convenient on the highway and I find it to be wonderful when I'm caught out in the rain. I also like the instrumentation on the PCX I think it's very well designed and I think it looks good. It's a great bike.

Excellent news. When I grew up if you liked guys you were either gay or bisexual. Now? Here is a list of sexual descriptions, many of which are legally accepted within the US and the EU. What can one say? The term first appeared in the Marxist-Leninist vocabulary following the Russian Revolution (really, a coup) of 1917 to describe strict adherence to policies and principles of the Soviet Union’s Communist Party. “Political correctness” was invented by the communists to camouflage the truth about events and policies in the Soviet Union that had resulted in mass murders, the starvation of millions, and slave labor camps. It was “politically incorrect” to reveal such facts; the “party line” was for all loyal communist party members to promote the same “politically correct truths” about the “good life” under totalitarian government. https://www.telegram.com/news/20200114/roberta-schaefer-history-of-political-correctness-and-why-its-gone-way-too-far When a woman devotes her entire youth to a sport, and becomes one of the best in that particular area, and then a man comes along who decides to identify as a woman, and steals all the awards, all the victories, and all the accolades, something is not right in society. Something is broken, society has become morally bankrupt, and there has to be a pause, there has to be an interruption of the nonsense. No woman would survive more than 30 minutes in the NFL. Women will not participate in men's sports because they won't be able to handle the physical endurance required, nor the brutality, nor the talent level. A woman ranked #5 on the WTA could not beat a #758 man on the ATP as John McEnroe so truthfully stated. Hopefully all this craziness will pass and we'll return to some form of normalcy and indecency.

One of the things I enjoy the most about Thailand is that women enjoy being women, and men are allowed to be men, and women celebrate the fact that a man behaves like a man, is strong, makes decisions, and is not a wallflower. In the West that whole thing is turned around so while Zuck may have been speaking a certain degree of truth, it was inevitable that it was going to offend certain people. These days some people think that being a victim is a new form of heroism. Perhaps he should have directed his comments at Western culture in general and not necessarily the workplace. It isn't, it's just being a weak and pathetic snowflake.

Trump's Nominee Rubio Pledges to Lobby Thailand on Uyghur Detainees
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well if he's successful it would represent standing up to the CCP, and that represents standing up to moral bankruptcy, so that would be a good thing. The only time the Thai government is ever going to do the right thing is through shame, embarrassment or pressure from outside of the country. -
I read a number of the books before I came here so I had some idea of what the games are, what the scams are, the fact that many Thai women will say anything and the fact that a lot of women are coached and trained. So I kind of knew what to expect. The second aspect of this equation was that I really took my time, I lived with her for a long time before I even mentioned the word love or offered any real sense of devotion. It's called self-preservation, it's called self-esteem. Man up. Do not ever allow yourself to be treated like a dog and do not ever allow a woman to dominate you and take advantage of your vulnerability. These are very simple credos but ones that if you live by you are likely to have a happier and more fulfilling life, with alot less tragedy and heartbreak.

Thai Relationships: The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly
spidermike007 replied to CharlieH's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
There is a lot of truth in this essay, most men come here and are very vulnerable emotionally, and many of the Thai women who are working are trained. They know what to say, they know how to act, they know what your soft spots are they know exactly what you want to hear. And when you're in that vulnerable state you tend to think that there's some reality and truth behind what they're saying, when in reality most of the time it's just a big mirage. Some guys just simply fall in love with the idea of being in love and there's no connection necessarily to this person that you're with and whether or not there's somebody that warrants that kind of devotion. So with the exception of guys who are just coming and looking for short time fun, when it comes to relationships here the best advice is to really take your time, time is your ally time is not their ally. If you get involved with a woman likely they're going to be pushing and pushing and pushing and you need to push back and just tell them, look I need some time to get to know you, you keep telling me you love me, but I don't love you, and it could take a long time before I love you, and it's going to take a year or two to get to know you so that I can determine whether or not you're worthy of my time, effort and attention. If she's in a big hurry and she walks let her walk there's plenty more fish where she came from. It's called self preservation, and men who have high self-esteem engage in behavior that pays tribute to the gender. -
Chaos on Pattaya Beach: Drunk tourists fuel brawls in hotspot

After while you begin to ask yourself why is Pattaya always in the news, and I think the answer is that it is still the capital of the sex industry in Thailand, and it tends to attract a lot of low life types. -
"Climate Change" is causing the LA fires...or is it?
spidermike007 replied to connda's topic in Off the beaten track
Yes. Very accurate. Ice cores are remarkably faithful recorders of past climate, providing multiply duplicated reconstructions with small and quantifiable uncertainties. Ice core reconstructions in general do not rely on assumed quantitative time-invariance of empirical calibrations between climate and sedimentary characteristics, but instead rely on assuming little more than the constancy of physical law over time. The history of some of the discoveries that allow these ice-core climatic reconstructions is instructive for students, citizens and policymakers. https://www.cambridge.org/core/journals/journal-of-glaciology/article/reliability-of-icecore-science-historical-insights/92910C4F70F7D55B05484DADD5C45236 -
I have a novel idea, instead of engaging in PR and spending all kinds of money trying to convince the Chinese and other people of Thailand's safety, and lack of risk, why don't they actually engage the government in reform so that they can make this place safer? They could start with public safety and traffic safety and then move on to reform of the spectacularly ineffective police department.

Pete Hegseth Pledges to Restore Warrior Ethos in U.S. Military
spidermike007 replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I think the administrator of a statewide Boy Scout organization might be about the extent of his skill set. Trump has an absolutely terrible habit of picking from the bottom of the barrel, and selecting people that are spectacularly devoid of talent and appropriate experience for the important positions he appoints them for. And it is entirely partisan and it is entirely based on fealty to his fragile ego. This of course is one of the reasons why his last Administration was such a failure. -

spidermike007 replied to connda's topic in Off the beaten track
These numbers are very easy to prove with a 15 minute research project, they are based upon numerous very deep ice core samples and are proven with a significant degree of scientific knowledge. They are simply not debatable. Of course one can always engage in denial but denial without science is just simply partisan nonsense. -

A lot of these people that you mentioned have great flaws, have made huge mistakes, and have a lot to answer for. However the same can be said of Trump and nearly all of his nominee pics. I don't see you applying names to them, your juvenile partisan name calling is just pure ridiculousness, and the act of a relatively undeveloped emotional nature, and a hateful heart. -
Excellent essay. Alot of truth. Russia is an objectively weak state — “Upper Volta with nuclear weapons,” as someone once quipped — with a nominal G.D.P. smaller than that of South Korea. Outside of energy, minerals and second-rate military equipment, it produces almost nothing that outsiders want: no Russian iPhone, Lexus or “Fauda.” If it were not for the minerals, oil and natural gas, I believe Russia would be a highly irrelevant state. Sure, it had alot of culture. Had. What have it's contributions been since the middle of the 20th century? There are a multitude of reasons why very few around the world have sympathy for the Russians. Those reasons are not limited to their serial killing, despot, thieving multi billionaire dictator for life. It is more about their nature, their history as ruthless, homicidal Cossack warriors, and their total lack of manners, and class. Not to mention the dignity, class, decency, civility, and social skills decades of Leninism, Stalinism, and now Putinism has stripped them of. And of course, the utter failure of their leader. This is a clear case of psychological projection: Putin dreamt and failed to create a dollar-free world and establish Russia as an “energy superpower.” He allowed corruption to metastasize through the state’s fabric, undermining its security capabilities. With its mass emigration, skyrocketing divorce rate, and low fertility, Russia, more than the West, demonstrates an immense collapse of family and social values. Russia has nothing but malicious intentions. They are a terrorist state, run by a serial killing desperado. This is a nation so lacking in redeeming qualities. They contributed alot culturally, in past centuries. Now? What are they bringing to the table? How are they of any benefit to mankind? They offer nothing but misery, death, destruction and bad will.

Sounds like you are an overly sensitive individual. None of these are particularly strange happenings, if I were buying a new phone I would expect for the staff to inspect it and make sure it works. The same would apply to any form of electronics that I purchased. The ribbon ceremony and a car dealership is a tradition that seems to make the employees of the dealership very happy, so again why complain about that? Thailand is a very foreign culture and there are many aspects of this culture that are very, very different from where we came from. For me I celebrate that fact. I want to be some place that is different, I want to be someplace that is inexplicable and occasionally difficult to understand. For me that creates mystery and intrigue and makes everyday here wonderful. I do agree that Home Pro does appear to be over staffed, and a lot of the employees seem to be quite bored, but whoever complains about great service? If I go into a Home Depot in America it takes me 15 minutes to get the attention of one individual if I'm looking for something, so why complain about something like this, unless you're a snowflake.

Polish man arrested for spanking Thai woman’s bottom (video)

Does Trump completely lack decency and compassion?
spidermike007 replied to spidermike007's topic in Political Soapbox
Well let me see if I can draw a few distinctions. I've been a business man my entire life. I've always been very fair not only to my employees but to all the contractors that I've worked with, and my customers. I've always honored my contracts and never tried to sue a contractor to gain his cash and in the process cripple his company, so that's one quite distinct contrast right there. Perhaps that's the reason why I'm not a billionaire but I'd rather be in my position having been honest than in his position having stolen billions from trusting and unsuspecting souls. I've also never created a fake University, handed out fake degrees and collected tens of thousands of dollars from unsuspecting students being duped by a fake school . In addition I've never bankrupted any companies, much less to the tune of several billion dollars. I could go on but that's probably enough for now. -
Wow. That sounds like an absolutely amazing property. Kudos to you man, what an enviable lifestyle. I absolutely love Italy, and dream about being able to buy a place there and fixing it up. Spain seems like they're missing the point, and it is likely an overreaction from the massive tourism that they've been suffering from. But they've been plagued by bad government for a very long time.

Thailand Backs Bill to Empower Small Liquor Producers
spidermike007 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
This would be a very welcome and very positive change. Thai beer is only rivaled by Serbian beer, and the mass produced American beers, in terms of the very low quality. Poor grade of hops, barely, and the production process seems to be entirely lacking in pride. Typical of the big monopolies. Even a large production beer, like Beer Laos blows away any Thai beer, hands down. Thailand desperately needs a vital craft beer movement, and the youth are ready to mount it. If only the dinosaurs would stop protecting their "bankers" and move out of the way. In other words, allow some progress, you mindless simpletons! Boon Rawd Brewery, which makes Singha, and ThaiBev, which brews Chang, the country’s best-selling beer, are owned and run by two of the wealthiest families in Thailand. Through longevity and political influence, these two breweries have dominated Thai beer for nearly a century, forcing out or crushing any competition, foreign or domestic. And we all know how they easily accomplish this. Thaopipob Linjittkorn, or Thao as he is more popularly known, a lawyer and homebrewer, was very publicly arrested in 2017 for making beer. He used that publicity to win an election to Parliament in 2019, along with 80 other members of the Future Forward Party. This progressive, pro-democracy party included in its platform a detailed plan to deregulate the beer industry, as well as a proposal for the legalization of marijuana, citing both as ways of putting money into the pockets of small businesses and local farmers. The opposition that Future Forward was up against is a military-backed, hardline government that supports the duopoly with strict regulations that allow it to control over 99% of Thailand’s estimated 180 billion baht ($5.8 billion) beer industry. The duopoly was originally made untouchable with the first Thai Liquor Control Act in 1950, a law which has been amended several times since to push legality even further out of reach of any small brewer. Prayuth's administration has done much to reinforce the isolationist and nationalistic policies that Phibul established in the 1940s and ’50s, and has called again and again for citizens to display a certain level of “Thainess,” which the PM defines in part as unquestioning loyalty to the government. Do not be disobedient! For some, craft beer is associated with anti-establishment politics. “It’s very similar to the French Revolution, which started from a cafe in Paris, where people drank coffee,” says Taopiphop. “The fuel of the revolution is not coffee any more, it’s craft beer.” Taopiphop adds that, after the 2014 coup in Thailand, many pro-democracy activists chose to meet in Bangkok’s craft beer bars. If only the younger Thais were allowed to express themselves, be inventive, be creative, be industrious, and use their smarts and ambition, Thailand could have a future. Craft beer is needed here, and so are the young entrepreneurs. But, that future appears to be suppressed at every turn by dinosaurs, who only answer to money, money, and even more money. Money is the God of lesser men. The money first attitude is holding back Thailand on so many levels.
