Transferring Visa to new passport
gargamon replied to Westen's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I decided to do my renewal here instead of in Canada. Appointment in a week or so. I will insist I don't leave the embassy without my old passport. Are you aware that for around $50 CDN extra they will leave your old passport active and valid until the new one is generated? Doing the NR-O again after a tourist entry is simple, especially since you already have the funds in country(I assume). I had to do that 5 years ago when I got a new passport in Canada and didn't get the special letter required at the time to state I was the same person. Easier and cheaper to restart the process than going to the embassy and getting it in Thailand. -
I used to use my Capital One atm card all the time for OTC withdrawals. It was difficult to find a bank that would do it, and the BKK bank I was using stopped doing it. I now use wise, and the cost difference between the two methods is negligible, at least up to a couple of thousand dollars. Go with wise, much easier than going into some bank and queuing up.

The case that comes to mind is Jennifer Grey, from Dirty Dancing, who essentially destroyed her acting career by getting her large nose reduced.

There's a party in office #3. Everyone's cumming. -
Yes it does. A transformer will consume electricity even if it's doesn't have anything connected to the transformed side. The larger the transformer, the more electricity it will consume.

Thai HIV patient admits having one-night stands with many men
gargamon replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
What convinced me was a paper I read around 2003 that said that in the heterosexual population with HIV, 89.6% were women. Likely, the 10.4% that were men with HIV were not being honest and had been involved in needle drugs or had taken it up the a$$ and didn't want to admit it. I would also disagree with your anal sex assessment. Even in the gay population in San Francisco, only the catchers would get infected, not the pitchers. So obviously anal sex is okay as long as you're not the receptacle. Lots if similarities between the HIV “common knowledge“ and the weed propaganda. It's reefer madness all over again. -
Thai HIV patient admits having one-night stands with many men

Lucky for the men involved that, since there needs to be a transfer of body fluids from the infected, it is somewhat difficult to catch by the male in a heterosexual situation. -
Name Spelt wrong on Emirates Air Ticket
gargamon replied to LuckyLucas's topic in Visas and migration to other countries
Air asia and Cebu Pathetic (Philippines) routinely block passengers with misspelled names or incorrect birthdays. Granted they are both quite sleazy... I'd make sure the passenger has a letter from the airline stating the error has been noted and will not cause problems. Not just a “note in the file“, but an actual email or document from the airline. -
Good luck, you're going to need it looking for a condo in January, middle of high season. Plus, I recently was searching in that are for a condo for 5 months. Even though it was October, there were few available compared to earlier years at the same time. I blame it on the Russians avoiding conscription, etc. Strangely enough, even though all the condos are rented, the bike rental shops are overflowing as few are renting.

UK pensioners flock to luxury retirement resorts in Thailand
gargamon replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well, they can't (or at least not as easily as before) go to Spain anymore since they voted themselves out of the EU. You really can't expect them to stay in the UK, can you? -

Good luck finding a good one, especially when you get old/sick and she tires of all the work. If you can afford it, the care home is a much superior answer. -
Getting used to live in a wheel chair

Hook him up with one of the assisted living places where he can be self reliant until he can't and then some of the living duties can be handed off to the facility. Some of them are very nice, from having private villa with private pool down to shared rooms for the less fortunate financially. They are all over, with LaLisa in Chiang Mai being the most famous. Here's a suite from one in Pattaya. -

Well it seems to me that the banking apps in Thailand are highly secure. Please provide an example or two of scams on mobile apps, especially banking apps if you have some. Thanks -
House elects Mike Johnson as Speaker, ending GOP chaos
gargamon replied to Social Media's topic in World News
I thought this thread was about Mike Johnson. Let's try and get back on topic. How about this: https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/01/politics/mike-johnson-kfile-invs/index.html Before he became a politician, House Speaker Mike Johnson partnered with an anti-gay conversion therapy group. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson closely collaborated with a group in the mid-to-late 2000s that promoted “conversion therapy,” a discredited practice that asserted it could change the sexual orientation of gay and lesbian individuals. Prior to launching his political career, Johnson, a lawyer, gave legal advice to an organization called Exodus International and partnered with the group to put on an annual anti-gay event aimed at teens, according to a CNN KFile review of more than a dozen of Johnson’s media appearances from that timespan. -

Transferring Visa to new passport
gargamon replied to Westen's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I'm needing to get a new Canadian passport soon. Did you get the new one in Thailand or Canada? Did you courier or carry the old in when submitting your application? I assume you checked the box to get your old one back. I think if it was the Canadian embassy in Thailand that screwed up, the only safe way would be to submit in person when you get to take your old passport (with holes in it to make it invalid) with you after submitting the application. -

I had a sim years back, true if I recall correctly that allowed you to purchase extended validity. A simple google search (not research) showed this: https://help.mobiletopup.com/knowledge-base/how-do-i-extend-the-expiry-date-validity-of-my-sim/ -
