I use an old version of gboard on all my devices in PC mode so no matter if I'm using a desktop, laptop, tablet or phone the keys are always in the same place. Newer versions of gboard clobbered the PC layout.

Can you not get mediainfo to show what's actually going on? What the app that is trying to get your money states is irrelevant. What does vlc say it is? I think mediainfo is builtin there. Maybe you could post a link to a video that fails.
