Take China and Russia for example. They do investigate, prosecute and even kill lots of people based on surveillance. None of us knows if the findings that they used were true or correct. Sentenced without a trial. Countries in SE Asia are more likely to follow the Chinese model rather than the western one.

Maybe try island/beachside living? I live on Koh Samui. No a/c in my lounge/office. Doors/windows open all day every day. I only close the windows when it rains. That has not happened for the last four months. Ceiling fans on low 24/7 and a 'floor' fan for the really hot, no-wind days. I have only run the bedroom a/c three times this year - for an hour each time.

Did you know this about 7-Eleven (Thailand)?
Tropicalevo replied to george's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I have never really used a 7/11. I prefer to give my money to local businesses. CP are rich enough already. Two villages within a 10 minute ride. Two 7/11's within a 7 minute ride. I go local. Or if I need a convenience store - Tops Daily is much better than the 7/11's and closer. I use them for ice and Snowy IPA. -
Bangkok Launches Major Pavement Renovation Project

New pavement today and then major repairs in 6-12 months time. Oldest trick in the book for ongoing projects. A double whammy. -
Thailand’s CPPD calls for collective action against youth vaping
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Not only Thai youths. Most folk world wide ignore the health risks. There are more and more cases of permanent lung damage being documented. https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/health/wellness-and-prevention/what-does-vaping-do-to-your-lungs -

Flights to Israel Return to Bangkok Amid Airspace Closure

Nice move by immigration. Well done at a stressful time. -
I was told last night that the police were carrying out breathalyser checks on Saturday. Probably a good idea. The checkpoint was at Central Festival - by the roundabout. (Also checking for helmets but that is quite common there.) This is the first time that I have heard of breathalysers being used on Samui, but then again, I am a bit of a hermit. Moral of the story - do not drink and drive folks.

Rubbish. Even more ignorant and the wrong defence. I have seen first hand a guy doped to the gills on cannabis trying to put on a pair of shorts. He fell over at least five times when he lifted one leg up to put in the shorts. In the end he had to sit on the floor to do it and I had to help him get up. If that is not 'loss of control' then tell me what it is.

BREAKING NEWS! Iran potentially triggers World War 3
Tropicalevo replied to george's topic in The War in Israel
No - see my previous post. By the way - China is stirring the pot. They supply weapons to both sides of the conflicts in most cases. -
Not only that, but usually the journey to the doc is also a 'pulse raiser'. With my krappy old body, I am a regular at the local hospital. Initial blood pressure reading is always high. (I ride a motorbike to the hospital.) I tell them to wait five minutes whilst I regulate my breathing. Second reading - always normal. Last month doc said that I have a very strong heart and could live to 100. I said Nooo. Please!

Third columnists causing disruption in the western countries under the guise of 'peaceful demonstrations' And waiting in the wings - China v Taiwan Get the tin hats out folks, it will be a rough ride for a while. -

Time banks: Are they the solution to Thailand’s aging crisis?

Interesting. But I cannot see many Thais joining the scheme. They love cash too much. -
Bringing human ashes into Thailand
Tropicalevo replied to rocketlad78's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
I have not carried ashes to Thailand but I have carried ashes in my check in luggage from Thailand to the UK via Istanbul and Antalya. Some baggage handlers that I know said to put a label on the container stating that they were human remains. Non toxic. I did have problems at every stop. I was searched and tested for drugs. Apparently the ashes look like drugs on an X-ray scan.
