  1. What an exciting way to end ones days! And no doctors, computers or TV.
  2. I struggle to understand these people that spend so much time, money and energy on 'preparing for the worst'. I things are so bad after a nuclear war or natural disaster, why bother? OK. So I am in my 70's and I have had a great life but would I really want to end my days drinking contaminated water, eating 'nuclear' fruit and berries off the trees and fighting zombies? Bring it on I say.
  3. OK - I was suckered. I thought that it might be a serious comment, not just another conspiracy theory by yet another Tik Tok wannabe. Tik Tok has to be the biggest time waster on the planet. Boy. The Chinese have suckered everyone it seems.
  4. From the main article - they are going after the Thai guy as well.
  5. Same for me last year at SCB. I showed them DL, WP, yellow book, pink id and bank book for existing account there. No - COR please. Opened two accounts at Krungsri instead. (I did not need anything there except passport last year.)
  6. I would think that a work permit is the least of your worries here. As you say, playing/education etc. The only very slight worry might be a jealous 'concerned citizen' complaining to the police about possible child labour. Your D-I-L would be able to handle that one. It is just the granddaughter 'playing'.
  7. Just a thought. Is the arrivals car park the same cost per day as the departures? (I try not to make assumptions when dealing with BA and charges.)
  8. The one time that I had check in luggage a year or so ago, I went straight to Business class check in (I fly economy but have the Bangkok Airways resident card), showed my A4 check in form and that was it. No problem. At first, the security folk were nervous about my A4 form and would ask the supervisor if it was OK, but lately, no issues. I follow the same process when returning to Samui. I ask the hotel to print out the A4 check in form for me. Head for security at the airport. Sorted and then straight to the Bangkok Airways lounge.
  9. I concur with the first sentence - until this year. I tried to open a second account at SCB (been with them for years) and they asked for a COR from immigration. Samui immigration will not give those any more. I showed the SCB my passport, existing bank book, work permit, yellow book, TM 30 etc etc. The bank insisted that it must be a COR from immigration. Went to Krungsri and just gave them the money that I wanted to deposit. Job done. As you say - case by case.
  10. Here on Koh Samui, cold season is at an entirely different level. It was cold(er) and raining during November. Daytime temperatures down to low 20's. And yes, I was under the duvet and wore socks and a T shirt in bed at night. Now, we are back to sunny and 33 C at the moment. It is not usually this warm in December, but in 23 years here, the lowest that I have know in 19 C and that was many years ago.
  11. No they do not. I use this trick when I go to the airport on my motorbike. Leave it at arrivals rather than departures. I usually check in online and only travel with a back pack. Straight to the gate. No queues.
  12. Maybe the passenger has an outfit similar to this one? https://www.insider.com/japanese-man-spends-15000-on-lifelike-dog-costume-2022-5
  13. What is happening in Gaza is 100% down to Hamas. They invaded Israel and murdered unarmed innocents. They hide behind, with and under unarmed innocents. They have NEVER honoured a ceasefire. They kill without fear and lie about everything. Israel 'bombed' a hospital??? That was the easiest one to prove to be a lie. Sad that the Independent is not what it says it is.
  14. and a camera. Yes.
  15. That is an interesting list in the article. Nothing from the UK or the USA in the top 50. (No surprise there.) #1 Picanha is very tasty but in a different price range to # 2 and # 3.
  16. or Do not use apps. I do not even have the WIFI switched on on my phone.
  17. Tell me. I have COPD and it is a buggerrr. Or as one young lady said 'with a mask I do not need makeup'.
  18. This has been law for quite a few years now. It seems that someone forgot.
  19. So he did not cancel the credit cards until after they had been used? Surely, any normal person would cancel the card immediately after the theft.
  20. Difficult to tell these days. Looking at the clothes on the table, I would guess that it is a man who wants to be a woman. Then again...........
  21. There was a trick a while back when Samui was not so developed. (No supermarkets, only a few of ATM's etc.) The staff in a couple of the local mum and pop stores would hold back the small shrapnel. When I challenged them on that 'You are farang. You tip.' was the response. Pleased to say that it has not happened for a very long time. However, many shop staff keep the satang coins these days.
  22. I am with AXA. I have used them since the car was new (2013). I have no idea how good they are as I have never made a claim. They were recommended by a local insurance agent that I have known for years.
  23. As others have said, buying new is a better and more safe investment - unless you want to buy a very old one. Not universal, but I notice that the Thais that I know never put their bikes in for a service. They wait until it breaks down and then get it fixed. I bought a second hand PCX from my local mechanic/bike rental shop to see if it was my sort of bike. As the seller was a mechanic, if I found anything wrong with it, he fixed it. That was the deal. When I took it for a service he asked 'What is wrong with it? What do you want me to do?' (I had the same question when I took my old Suzuki Caribbean in for a service.) Good luck
  24. Hi all How much does the airport charge for parking a car - per day please. I never leave my car there so I have no idea.
