More COVID cases in Surat Thani?
Tropicalevo replied to phetphet's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
No knowledge but I would expect it to be the police. A Covid outbreak does not make sense logically. It takes some days for Covid to show up in tests (4-5 days with our guests.) Closing Chaweng because of a Covid outbreak 4-5 days ago is a bit late? And again - why close at 23.00? Close the place ASAP As they did with the worker's camps in Bangkok. Sorry. Krung Thep Maha Nakhon. -
I thought that it was to allow for checking for phone batteries and battery packs. They are not allowed in the hold and must be in carry on. Quite a few times, whilst waiting to board, I have seen people called to go and remove them from their check-in bags. This then slows down boarding. They have always checked, maybe just bringing that check forward to save time later?

Good luck to you and your wife. Have fun as long as it lasts.

"Big Too" - Thai PM - gets tough on hunters hunting tigers

But he cannot get tough on rich kids killing policemen. -
As an aside, but with a connection :- Most countries have a 'must have x empty pages in a valid passport and at least six months before expiry' rule. I was caught out once as I has less than six empty pages. I ended up 'lifting' some visas that were the 'stuck on' types ie not stamped. (Cambodia and Laos.)

2-year-old boy drowns at pool villa in Pattaya on Valentine’s Day

RIP little one. Fly with angels. -
My electricity is from a private supplier and I pay 9 baht per unit. Bill was about 7,000 to 8,000 baht per month. 13 solar panels and it is down to 2,000 baht per month. I do not have batteries etc. The supplier knows that the meter goes backwards during the daytime, but as long as there is a bill every month, they are not too fussed. My neighbour has the same system and his meter would go backwards and a negative bill at the end of the month. I have a swimming pool. He does not! The supplier installed a digital meter on his supply. They do not go backwards.

Absolutely everything will be Hers
Tropicalevo replied to THAIPHUKET's topic in Marriage and Divorce
That is not always the case. When my English wife died, it took me about 10 days to empty her account using bank to bank transfers. There was a daily limit back then and we had just sold a house. I told the lawyer and asked if I could be in trouble. He said no - everyone does that! For the OP - please get a Thai will and exclude any and all living relatives that you have. The Thai inheritance rules are not straightforward. I had to get letters from my wife's mother and siblings. Also show her father's death certificate. We had written a Thai will but were waiting for the house sale to go through so no signed will. Wifey died two weeks after the sale. She died a Thai millionaire ???? -
Bangkok to bury all overhead cables underground within 3 years
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Therein lies the flaw in the logic. History shows us that they will worry about tomorrow's problems - tomorrow. It would be if I used a Thai provider and my wifi is down. However, I use a private business provider. All underground cables on private land. -

That is going to make fixing your broken wifi connection much more difficult. Never mind the disruption to traffic. Foot and vehicle. -

Warning. Covid19 Thai Insurance.
Tropicalevo replied to Rufo's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
Yes there are hospitels. A number have been identified in various newspaper articles. If asymptomatic or mild symptoms, one can also quarantine in a private villa as if booked via Airbnb and others. Some larger hotels also have private villas but there may be issues regarding using the shared open spaces. -

They do when they rent a villa. We have had 8 or 9 occasions now where the villa guests have quarantined in their villa (home).
