PM is Satisfied with Progress on Field of Waste Management
Tropicalevo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
So the PM has very low standards. -
There is no bridge at the moment and there is no definite plan to build one. There is a request for the bidding process to start. That is all. Then again, maybe no one wants to bid or maybe it will fail the environmental impact assessment. Personally, I do not expect to see a bridge to Samui in my lifetime. The estimated completion date of the electrical project is 2029 and that is only if they start the project now. Not some time in the future. Last New year's Eve, there was a major power outage in the north east of the island, caused by heavy demand. Transformers were exploding one after another all along the roads. Quite a few 5* hotels lost a lot of money over that outage. Their comments to the government departments responsible are probably not printable. Part of the local infrastructure in that area has already been upgraded to cater for additional power. Samui needs more electricity (and water) now.

If that is a photo of actual canal, they do not stand a chance on finding the poor mite. ???? -

ASEAN NOW columnist Rooster wins NE Thailand Scrabble Championships
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Congratulations Rooster. A much needed boost for you after your recent tribulations. 'Live long and prosper'. -
I do not break the law either. That is why I gave them the UK address but I also informed them that I was living overseas. The bank have both my UK address and my overseas address and seem to handle that one well. New bank and credit cards go to the UK address and spam and circulars sometimes come to my Thai address. ????

Cloudy Pool - How Long is Your Pump on?
Tropicalevo replied to Neeranam's topic in Swimming Pool Forum
Slightly off the main subject, but I broke even with solar in less than three years. (Thirteen panels.) BUT - I pay 8 baht per unit for electricity. I do not have batteries, just turn the meter back during the daylight hours. I run the pool from 09.00 to 17.00. Always clear. I usually only use a/c in the bedroom at night for a couple of hours during March and April. Fans on 24/7 - no a/c in the living area. Four fridges and three computers. -
Experts Call for More Rh-negative Blood Donors
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
If you donate at a government facility (clinic, hospital, blood drive etc) then the blood is treated the same as Thai donations - usually free. If you donate at a private hospital and it is used in emergency procedures, again, free. If it is used in after-care at a private hospital, then probably charged but I do not have evidence of that. -

Experts Call for More Rh-negative Blood Donors
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Donating blood does save lives. The life that you save may be a loved one. I have donated blood (Rh-) all of my life and only stopped when I reached 70 years of age. Here on Samui I was registered at a couple of the hospitals and have been called out a few times over the years for an emergency donation. -
Someone going through a difficult and traumatic time and a potential disaster hanging over his head. Yet again, genuine, friendly people come to the rescue. Well done. Thank goodness that there are more good people in the world than bad ones.

Well done HammerMan and everyone involved. 'Nuff said.
