Come on people, who would not be angry if one of your kids was shot. "As ye sow, so shall ye reap." Pachyderm justice perhaps.

It's not the arrest that is significant, maybe the police get to keep the content. -
Refractive Lens Exchange surgery recommendations.
Tropicalevo replied to kohjumboy's topic in Health and Medicine
I obviously do not know your background for this need and I am not a medical expert but this may help I had my lenses replaced (RLE) at Bangkok Hospital Phuket and the cost was nothing like 190,000 baht per eye. I had the 'Bright View' procedure with tri-focal lenses. I paid about 230,000 baht last year for both eyes. No discounts for long term foreign residents. I found a very good residence within walking distance (HOMA) where, again, prices were very reasonable. In spite of the fact that the specialist (Dr Captain) looks about 16, I found that the whole experience was the most professional that I have ever come across. Reception staff, medical staff - all were outstanding. https://www.brightviewcenter.com/ -
Deterioration of Dining Quality and Experience
Tropicalevo replied to Patong2021's topic in General Topics
I guess that I am lucky. I only eat out once or twice a week and go to the same places that I have eaten in for the last 20 years. All good food, good portions and good service at a reasonable price. Only French restaurants for steak. Mostly pork or fish everywhere else. (I eat a lot of chicken at home.) -

Thai PM Pressured to Dissolve House Over Skyrocketing Power Costs
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The dinosaurs are clutching at straws in their attempt to get back into power. This has nothing to do with electricity costs. It is all to do with propaganda and telling the people that they are paying more and that it is Thaksin's fault. 'False advertising' as the saying goes. Print it in papers and put it on the net so people think that it must be true. -
Will Immigration take my bottle of duty-free away?
Tropicalevo replied to pollyog's topic in Suvarnabhumi Airport Forum
Sorry but I disagree. I have lived on the island for more than 20 years and have always been able to check through. Although, I do sometimes have to tell the originating airport check in desk the code for the airport here. They originally say 'no can do' if you name the place but when I tell them USM - Oh yes..... I always book one ticket - source to destination. Two, sometimes three flights. We have many guests flying here on codeshare with the major airlines - they always get their luggage checked through. Thai (domestic) also do a lot of codeshares. Over the years, I have flown with Thai, British Airways, KLM, Eva Air, Lufthansa, Singapore Airlines etc etc. I suspect that the problem is the 'bucket seat airlines'. Air Asia, Nok Air etc but I rarely fly with them. I have flown with cheaper airlines twice this year - Big mistake. I now have claims with both Viet Jet and Batik Air. They changed flight times meaning that I missed connections both times. To be fair to your comment, my destination is always USM. I never fly to Nakhon Sri Nowhere or wherever. -

Thailand Announces New Minimum Wage Increase for 2025
Tropicalevo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Minimum wage in Vietnam is lower than in Thailand yet their economy is booming. -
Your problems seem to have started because of an expired TM 30. Many folk on this site state that if you live in the same address, you do not need to do a TM 30 when you return from holiday. Technically, that may be correct but as we always find out, different immigration people interpret the rules differently. I find life easier and more simple if I always update the TM 30 when I get home.

I also had surgery to remove the need for glasses but it was tri focal lenses. I had cataracts and needed lens replacement anyway. BrightView Centre at BHP were excellent (and a tad expensive) but I will not need glasses for the rest of my life. (I am in my early 70's.) One exception - sunglasses. The world is sooo bright now! 😎
