Lazada - If it looks too good to be true ...
Tropicalevo replied to Crossy's topic in General Topics
I was not at the house. My business partner paid via QR code. We tried to get the delivery guy to go away and come back, but there is a major shortage here on the island and deliveries are unreliable. Postmen are even more rare. I have received zero post since Covid. Almost all Thai/Burmese workers lost their jobs during Covid and went back to the mainland. Many have not returned. Labour shortages in every discipline. -
I do not 'keep' any animals in my place. They all come and go at will. Neighbours' dogs know that there are always full water bowls and food in the fridge. Always a selection of tokays and geckos inside and lizards in the garden. Squirrels are regular visitors. They have just eaten the last of the pomegranates growing outside of the bedroom window - and I gave up on growing pineapples. Stray cats sneak in now and again. Rats, mice and snakes are frequent visitors and there is still the occasional monitor lizard. (I do put rat traps in the roof space. When they are practising 'Riverdance' it keeps me awake.) There is also a wide selection of birds but I am trying to deter the mynahs. The poop everywhere. Oh, and bats in the utility area under the house. They sometimes come in and fly around eating the insects that the geckos miss.

Thai Taxi Driver Assaulted by Foreigner in Pattaya, Seeks Justice
Tropicalevo replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
But this cannot be true. The deniers tell us all that weed users are harmless and wouldn't hurt a fly. The usual 'it must be alcohol' will appear here soon.- 104 replies

Thaksin Outlines Vision for Transforming Thailand's Northeast
Tropicalevo replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
He is the only Thai leader that has done something for the people - especially those in the north. Yes, he may be corrupt, but name a Thai leader or ex-leader who is not. The difference is that Thaksin has delivered more than verbal promises and useless mega projects that only put money in rich folks pockets..- 39 replies

Thai Virologist Dismisses Norovirus Outbreak 'Fake News' He should know - he is an expert at that. -
Wishing you all good luck in your quest.

There used to be a big one in Chaweng but it was told to close down. Sorry, I do not know of others. A bit like the 7/11's and Tops Daily used to sell alcohol 24/7 - they have been told to follow the legal hours (for now).

Another busy 'high season' coming up.
Tropicalevo replied to Tropicalevo's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Samui is at maximum number of flights now - 50 in and 50 out. First flight out at 06.45. And the roads are a battleground. Allow extra time for journeys. The road from Choengmon to departures at the airport is still flooded. Almost knee deep. I had to push the bike through the last 10 metres. Soon dried out though. Only large 4 x 4 trucks were getting through. (And one crazy Brit on a bike.) -
Lazada - If it looks too good to be true ...
Tropicalevo replied to Crossy's topic in General Topics
I usually pay by CC when I order and I have no trouble with refunds. Recently I ordered COD - for some reason, order number 2 out of 3 had 'there was a problem with your credit card - please use an alternative method of payment'. Ordered 10 items COD. I knew before opening it that it was wrong weight, wrong size - they only sent one item. Still waiting for the refund after three weeks. I never order from overseas and I will never use COD again. 100% failure rate. -
Myanmar to release Thai fishermen, fostering regional peace
Tropicalevo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I have lost count of the number of times now that this has been said. Yet - they are still in gaol. One should not believe illegal military governments. -
OK My bad memory. Nite Hunter is 89 Baht. 109 baht is Orion 'The Dark' - 5%

Money grab at Fisherman's?
Tropicalevo replied to Tropicalevo's topic in Koh Samui, Koh Phangan, Koh Tao
Update: It is a money grab. My Thai business partner was contacted by a guest the other night 'Help - paper stuck to my windscreen and the car is clamped' so she went to Fisherman's to sort it out. She managed to get the car released. She said that there were about 15-20 cars clamped and a load of motorbikes chained together. At 500 baht a pop that is not bad for one night's work. I said that the local Thais must be pxssed off about this and she replied 'Oh no. Thais not have to pay.' -

Thailand Unveils Digital Global Driving Licence via Mobile App
Tropicalevo replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Not quite true. My IDP (Thai) has six pages of different languages plus Thai and English. I had to get one when renting a car in Portugal. They said that I needed an IDP because I was British even though my Thai driving licence has been fine in many other countries including the UK. I had to show the IDP before they would hand over the car. This was in 2019. -
Yes - Not a bad one at all. It is in my collection.
