Bangkok Joins Beijing in Landmark Air Pollution Solution Pact
Assuming that folk are serious about doing something, this is where Bangkok fails. There is no strict enforcement of anything here.

Why is AI so goddam awful?
If used correctly, I understand that we do not have to put up with it. AI does what you ask it to (in theory). if you want flowery rubbish padding out basic statements, that is what you get. GIGO

Thaksin, Anwar Ibrahim, and Brunei Sultan Discuss Myanmar Crisis
Someone needs to do something about these things. The governments are just pussy footing around and doing nothing. If it is to be the Three Stooges - so be it.

China Pressures Thailand to Uphold Myanmar Utility Bans
Scam capital is right next to the Thai border at Mae Sot. To get to the Chinese border, the military would have to escort them through territory held by the freedom fighters. These are the folk that the military are fighting.

Future Uncertain for Retiree Bank Accounts in Thailand
I thought that the facial recognition thing came out a while back. It was supposed to be for old and new accounts but the banks struggled to sort their side of it out.

Why are posters on here are reject living in the West?
Nothing. I built a house here 25 years ago. No rent. No mortgage. That's pretty cheap. It cost me a LOT more than that to live in Oz, Singapore, Hong Kong and the UK.

Thai PM Calms Tensions Over Cambodian Anthem Incident
More misbehaving tourists coming into Thailand visa free. Or are they spies? According to reports in other papers, the Cambodian military officer (he was a general) was wearing a long sleeved, plain white shirt. Not in uniform.

Sorry, you are not going anywhere. You will be reincarnated as a very powerful person - an AN mod perhaps?

Samui's Real Estate Draws Global Attention Amidst Phuket Boom
This was true back in the early 2000's when I started building. The guy who built my second house was an established builder from Phuket. He could not believe how cheap the land here was compared to Phuket so he moved here full time. He finished my second house OK, but did a runner on the third (and last) one. Wife #3 found out about wife #2 and they were both taking him to the cleaners.

Patong Police Crack Down on Reckless Foreign Tourist Riders
They should try this one on the other holiday islands here. Tao, Phangan and Samui. Koh Phangan last week was a free for all with foreigners driving badly.

This has been happening in elections here since Noah was a lad. I wonder why they worry about now. Maybe too many plebs 'out-bid' the hi-sos?

German Chemical Engineer's Cannabis Brew Prompts Krabi Police Intervention
And the usual comment from the deniers. It's never the cannabis, it is always something else. Lots of article stating otherwise. https://www.npr.org/sections/health-shots/2019/03/19/704948217/daily-marijuana-use-and-highly-potent-weed-linked-to-psychosis

South Pattaya Enforces Strict Parking Rules as Clampdown Begins
Here on Samui it is not PR, it is revenue generating. They are not hitting the villages/towns where locals block parking spaces, but they are hitting parking near tourist areas and attractions. The local clinic has had to rent space for their patients and the patients have to pay to park there. Still 100 baht parking is cheaper than the 1,000 baht 'fine'.

Solutions Sought for Dealing with Unruly Tourists in Mae Hong Son
As ye sow, so shall ye reap. Decriminalising weed and then pretending that recreational weed is legal was a huge mistake Thailand. Just enforce the laws. Dope-head Anutin strikes again.

Pai's Deportation of International Musician Sparks Outcry
It is nothing to do with being tourist unfriendly. Tourists do not need work permits. The WP process is a form of protectionism though. They do not want foreigners taking 'Thai' jobs. Thailand never wants to be seen as needing outside help in any way, kind or form. I ran a charity some years ago, we were helping to educate Khmer kids in the poorer provinces of Cambodia, but as I am based in Thailand, I wanted to set up the charity here. Forget it said the lawyer. Thailand does not need help from outside charities and you will not be able to register it here. But we are working in Cambodia was my response. Not in Thailand. That is not how the Thais will see it said the lawyer.

Efforts Continue to Lift Alcohol Ban on Thai Trains and Boost Tourism
I just do not see how allowing alcohol will boost tourism. People do not sit at home and think 'Oh I can drink on trains, I think that we should go to Thailand'. Tourists who catch trains are usually already here.
