  1. And that headline shows just how flawed this dingbat's judgement is. President? OMFG - pleeeese, not again.
  2. True, but then, money is everything - until the chase kills you. RIP kh Koetdee.
  3. To be expected really. The government does not have a great reputation for data security - especially with phone apps.
  4. Not just aeroplanes. Boeing has still got two astronauts stuck on the ISS two months after they arrived - on an 8 day mission. From USA today 2 months after Starliner launched, astronauts still haven’t returned: See timeline
  5. Really? In a country that monitors and censors what we do on the internet?
  6. I am not surprised. The government admin sections on Samui have not really moved into the digital age yet. I received a Land and House tax bill for a plot of empty land. I had to go to various government departments to explain that there were four houses on the land now. (My house had been there 20 years or more back then.) Two of the houses were still mine and I managed to pay the tax. The girl in the revenue office then asked me to contact the owners of the other two houses and to tell them to go and pay the tax! She was unable to access records at the Land office.
  7. Must be American beer (Budweiser?) if it tastes like water.
  8. Disagree. Most elephants on Samui are in sanctuaries. They are not linked to the 'abusive tourist trade'. Most interaction with tourists is strictly controlled and little or no physical contact. Tourists pay for their food and watch them. I have been to a couple of them. There maybe a few that are still tourist magnets, but the majority of these magnificent beasts are well looked after. To the OP. There are probably few official figures. Some sites name their elephants on the site but the best bet is probably to contact the individual sanctuaries and ask. try Samui Elephant Sanctuary https://www.samuielephantsanctuary.org/our-elephants Samui Elephant Haven https://samuielephanthaven.org/ Samui Elephant Jungle Sanctuary https://elephantsanctuarythailand.com/koh-samui/elephant-jungle-sanctuary-koh-samui SamuiElephant Kingdom https://www.elephantkingdomsanctuary.com/meet-the-herd I think that there may be a fifth one but I cannot remember. Unfortunately, the folk at the Na Muang waterfalls still offer the elephant rides. Not nice. Definitely not ethical.
  9. That's the problem when you gamble. Sometimes you win and sometime you loose.
  10. Unfortunately, this well intended comment will have the reverse effect. With the exception of China, Thailand will usually do the opposite of what outsiders suggest.
  11. If the beach photo really is Pattaya, then it has convinced me to stay away. That is not what I want to see on a family friendly, beach holiday. Apart from a fly in/fly out day-trip for a cremation, my last stay in Pattaya was 2000. Went with friends and we did not go to the beach, nor did we visit any temples.
  12. I agree re the no autopsy. I suspect that they say that so that folk feel better. My wife was 55 and died at home, in her sleep. I was told that there would be an autopsy and to wait a week before booking the funeral. It was a money grab. Body stored in the morgue for a week and I had to pay storage. I had to help to dress her body for the funeral (smart clothes) and there had not been an autopsy. (There were a few more money grabs - the police for the 'no crime' report, the hospital for God knows what and delivery of her body to the temple - since when was a songteow more expensive than a limo?)
  13. From what I have seen, 3 day cremations (or more) tend to be for Thais. All of the foreigner's cremations that I have attended have been one day, overnight burning and then pick up the ashes/bones the next day. This is for five out of five cremations of foreigners - including my wife's.
  14. Rubbish. It does not support those poor Thais who really are in need. It is a bribe to the lower and middle classes Real people in need do not have internet plans on smart phones and are not technically savvy. Stop the lies. Pllleease.
  15. I had a Prostatectomy. Seems quite effective.
  16. Technically. As long as she pays you a salary, and you pay SS, taxes etc. Minimum salary of 50k per month last time that I looked.
  17. Yet the police believe that she was a foreigner? Why? Need further info please.
  18. I always used to use Vasu as well. Sorry - it has been a while. Search Vasuexchange Bangkok. Soi 7/1 used to be famous for another reason, but the club is not there any more.
  19. This is probably the real reason that numbers to South Korea are down.
  20. And how many folk looked through their loose change after reading this one?
  21. Oh, that esteemed political tool that sends Burmese back to a war zone. That sends political refugees back the China and Vietnam etc. There are very few Human Rights in Thailand. Medical treatment is a fundamental Human Right. What business is it of the NHRC to decide how that treatment is given? This is nothing to do with Human Rights. It is everything to do with political removal of the opposition.
  22. Sorry Apple. Telling the truth and making light of it is not allowed in this woke world. Thais that I work with do not understand the outrage. "But it is true" they say. They are laughing at their fellow Thais for being dumb.
