  1. I think that may vary depending on location. Over the years here, I have been involved in cases with the police and the judiciary in Hua Hin, Samui and Bangkok. Pretty fair and justice was served in all cases. I did not have to bribe anyone, but I did offer a reward for the theft cases.
  2. And Big Businesses are recommending to the government that VAT is increased from 7% to 15%.
  3. Seems as though the AN jury has decided on this one and the dog has to die. I don't suppose that nine kids running around, shouting and screaming and possibly taunting the dog has any chance of being the case. Unfortunately, the dog cannot defend itself.
  4. You are missing the main point. Hamas does not want peace until all Jews are dead. End of. No matter what 'political' solution anyone comes up with, Hamas will carry on attacking, bombing, killing, raping. kidnapping Israelis. Hamas will agree to any political solution at the moment, as they now need time to re-finance and re-arm. As soon as they are ready - kill!
  5. It is easy to 'End Gaza’s Cycle of Suffering'. Just tell Hamas, and all of the Palestinians supporting them, to stop killing, kidnapping, raping etc all Jews. Oh, and hand over the remaining hostages and/or their bodies and arrest the murderers and rapists that invaded Israel. Oops, I forgot. It is Hamas' published agenda to eradicate ALL Jews. ie commit genocide against them. Oh well - same old same old.
  6. Sad. The real animals are the people setting the traps.
  7. Love the acronym for the self service - CUSS. There will be a fair bit of that I am sure. These systems rarely work properly when first implemented.
  8. Does conditional bail include withholding his passport?
  9. A minor point, but how can you lose something that you never had?
  10. If the USA is serious about this mock proposal, then we can expect an Afghanistan V2
  11. Well done for the quick response from the neighbours.
  12. Sadly, this is a common experience these days. People are just not prepared to wait. Glad that the kids are all OK.
  13. Those are not wasted votes. It is usually people that are fed up of the fixed election results and bad government with little or no choices. It's called a protest vote.
  14. Sorry, but please remind me what happened in Tiananmen Square?
  15. Probably because he could not swim. There are not too many Thais taller than 2 metres.
  16. Most Thai people still love Thaksin. I suspect that it will take another coup or a political court case to remove him.
  17. 7/11's selling beer all day today here on Samui.
  18. Apart from the recycling benefit, cans do not shatter and leave broken pieces on the sand where they can cut your feet. Then there are the professional scavengers. These folk go through the bins etc and collect the cans to sell to the scrap people. I had one pool guy who left because he could make more money scavenging - and flexible hours.
  19. From what we can read, it seems that his mother did nothing wrong
  20. A whole article of waffle when the guy was probably only caught because he was leaving the country. Nobody had to 'swoop' at all.
  21. No mention of fines for not wearing helmets.
  22. Hmm. I wonder where the rest of the money went?
