  1. So, no major storm but increased rainfall. That's a relief.
  2. A leader, who against all of the odds, has kept one of the world's largest and most aggressive armies at bay for a lot longer than many other leaders would have. Yes, I would call him a world leader. Your distraction re a corrupt country is just that. A distraction. There are very few countries that are not corrupt. They just hide better than Ukraine does. eg USA, Russia, China and so on
  3. Thailand - hub of drug smugglers.
  4. What the effing heck!!! A teacher, frequently drunk at school and sometimes armed!!! A few people need to loose their jobs over this one.
  5. As long as Boeing were not involved in the software design, testing or production - fine by me.
  6. Any chance of extending the Statute of Limitations to the RB policeman killer? Thought not.
  7. Yes. The UK is much more civilised. They only use knives and bottles there..... sometimes.
  8. A very sad state of affairs. The government keeps on saying 'everything will be OK'. The people say 'it happens almost every year'. And nothing is done about it. How about building some dykes? Lots of them.Better than the Belt and Braces Road for China, airports in areas where tourists do not want to go and so on.
  9. So you know the lady? I see nothing in the article that says that she was a lesbian. PS Not all women with short hair are lesbians. My wife had short hair all of our married life and she definitely was not a lesbian.
  10. Paradise for me is :- Warm climate Cold beers 24/7 Spicy food Pretty girls No debts or mortgage Good friends and a great view every day with my beautiful wife next to me. Wait a minute....... Sadly, wifey passed away 8 years ago. Still 7 out of 8 ain't bad.
  11. I do not have a landlord. Commercial rates are higher than domestic rates depending upon a number of factors. The PEA do not provide electricity to my property. You seem to be trying to compare apples with durians.
  12. No one. Standard rate for many private developments here is 7 - 8 baht. Plus VAT, plus FT - somewhere between 9 - 10 baht a unit depending on the FT. PEA will not supply inside most private developments as the cables are all installed underground. Higher maintenance fees. The highest price that I know of was a nearby development that was charging 29 baht per unit. Now THAT was a rip off.
  13. It was 50 baht back in 2000. And that was with a receipt. It is obviously more now.
  14. Crikey. 24 years of living here and the police cop someone at last for driving dangerously. They could catch someone every day here on that one. However, he did not get a fine for his driving. The fine was for not telling the LTO about the change of colour of the car. Amazing Thailand.
  15. So the poor wee lass was crying and in pain for almost 24 hours?
  16. Foreigner does not mean farang. Not all foreigners are farangs. Other Asians are foreign as well.
  17. Come on government. It is not as if this was unexpected.
  18. And the poor old lady next door to me does not have a phone. She is not a very happy bunny.
  19. Obviously he was a man committed to the school and dedicated to his job. A sad accident.
  20. Strange. Does that mean that the man was lying down as if having a rest?
  21. The funny thing is that as soon as one goes abroad, they have to use cash and the ATM card! Isn't progress wonderful.
  22. Totally agree. I worked in software development for 30+ years. No way would I put most of the apps that Thailand touts on my phone. I do not even have the wifi switched on. I was talking to some guys who worked on the WhatsApp software and they agreed with me. Unfortunately, they HAD to use it. Many young guys in software development say the same thing - minimum apps.
  23. I for one had no idea that hydrogen sulfide gas formed in wells and I have have one. That is the great thing about being old. You realise just how little you really know and you are constantly learning. There are many, many wells here on Samui but I do not know anyone who has a gas detector for them.
