  1. As far as I am aware, UK pensioners living in any European country get the full increases.
  2. You forget the one most important fact in your statement. TIT, even the thought of rocket science here is an illusion.
  3. Yes, it is cruel, but unfortunately has been like this for many, many years. The cost to the UK exchequer would be in the billions of ponds to upgrade those living outside Europe. Due to the spendthrift governments of all colours, to increase all pensions on a yearly basis would bankrupt the country.
  4. Someone with a big spoon having a stir, just to keep this to the forefront of everyone's mind. I can't say its annoying as I don't think about it that much. I will try to ensure I only bring in up to the limit and trust that keeps me tax free. However, until I get my first tax bill, like everyone else, I am trying to dodge the hook.
  5. I self insure. The premiums were going up at a rate of knots I couldn't keep up with. What I was paying in premiums 18 years ago, I put away for when it may be needed. I have had a couple of hospital visits, but they were for minor things, so just paid from my monthly expenses. If I don't have enough if it should come to something serious, so? We all have to go some time and I have had a good innings. Sh*t happens.
  6. With which company and how old are you?
  7. A case of foot and mouth perhaps?
  8. I can't say I hate Facebook as I have never used it. Is it possible they hate me for not using it?
  9. I rather like the outfit, I could laugh at it all day. However, I shall pin it to my dart board, and see if I can knock his eyes out in two shots.
  10. Pension rises, what pension rises! OH! Sorry you mean personal pensions of course?
  11. My personal experience of 'inflation, is more in the way of 'shrinkflation'. Some of the items I buy have dropped in weight but still cost as much. The same thing with the roadside food stalls, you know you are getting less, but still paying the same. A restaurant I visit puts his prices up each year on all food and drink regardless of what he pays for his provisions. Everyone is in the same boat, take your choice and pay up, or go without. Up to you!
  12. Seen his statement in more than one international news outlet. He clearly admitted he was not wearing his seat belt.
  13. I don't know? They could all try suing God!
  14. You are missing the most important fact, bob. He has admitted he was not wearing the seat belt at the time of this incident. The airline could refuse any compensation under the circumstances.
  15. PERHAPS! They all realised they were getting nowhere with their education, and decided there was no point carrying on?
  16. "Reportedly, five children were seen at the hut before the incident. Two of them, who also resided in the temple, had left the premises." Makes one wonder, was the fire started from inside or outside?
  17. Thia's show 'respect' to their elders and supposed betters. The problem is, it has been forced on them by their elders and supposed betters from a very early age, over many centuries, so ingrained in the culture.
  18. Ah, but the sun was shining this morning and this afternoon it rained and a thunder storm. That's climate change for sure. Don't under estimate these kids!
  19. A university close to me was closed due that problem. It is taking along time to get back on its feet after a two year closure.
  20. At Private Schools no doubt. There still those who learn from their parents or employer, the rote way. No critical thinking required and no chance of advancement to better themselves. The pendulum swings, but that is all it can do.
  21. “From what I’ve observed, the government has merely been repairing the current education system". It has neither the tools or the parts required to make the repairs. Throw all the money you want at the broken system, but it will never improve until the learn by rote is scrapped, and students can ask questions. Teach them to think, not what to think with teachers who can teach, not someone applying for a cushy job for life.
  22. Very sorry my sense of humour fell short of its mark this time.
  23. Haggling over a price in the markets is all part of the fun of a market visit. I learnt that lesson in Chiang Mae over 30 years ago. A very nice tooled leather belt with a buckle I really liked. 500b was the price quoted. I paid 300b which at that time would have been £6:70. I still have that leather belt, but it is now too short.
